Happy belated birthday Sukey.
It's lovely and sunny here today. I was looking through my wardrobe and I want to wear some different things as I tend to wear the same outfits. I was just going for a walk and I just tried on a navy maxi dress I hadn't worn during the summer and wore a jumper over it with a necklace. I think the dress looks very frumpy on me as it is a very loose shape. I am getting rid of it after wearing it today!
I noticed when I got in that my hand bag strap is coming off as well so that bag may have to go too. It's annoying as I like that bag. It was just from a charity shop this year but it is exactly the right size.
I should do some deep cleaning. It is so demoralising with having four pets as as soon as I clean anything it is covered in pet fur again very quickly!
I am wondering if my husband and I will be able to go out after Christmas for a day out as he has the whole week off. I am not sure what the restrictions will mean yet.
I might see if I can book a Christmas grocery slot too, actually...

Sorry I was a bit confusing. I have been doing online shopping since lockdown and had very few problems, just worries me at Christmas for some stupid reason, I mean if you go shopping on Christmas Eve and they haven't got what you want you can choose something else but with online you either don't get it or if you've said they can substitute you might get something unsuitable. I know I am being ridiculous, I'm getting shopping on the 23rd, I've got a co-op and Lidl in walking distance so can easily go out and get something on the 24th. I think I'm transferring all the covid/lockdown anxiety in to one issue. I suppose the other underlying thing is I can't plan, can any of the children/partners/grandchildren come, what if they all want to come, what if none of them want to come. Yes I'm going potty.
My kitchen drawer/cupboard sort out is continuing, I think I'm enjoying that as it is something I have some control over. I'm looking forward to things easing next week, I think I might get a grip then.5 -
I'm sure you're right and it's the lack of control that's affecting all of us pixie. It sounds as if the nationwide Christmas arrangements are soon to be finalised so then you'll have a better idea of what you will be planning for. The good thing about your online order is that you can change it so if you do hear later this week that family can join you then you can up your supplies. 😀 I never mind buying in extra in advance of Christmas . Most years, about the only thing that might get wasted is some salad leaves everything else gets eaten eventually. I've already got the turkey in the freezer. I looked at the gammon joints on Friday and most had mid December end dates so I'll buy that in a week or so. I generally freeze my pigs in blankets in advance too so I can use the sausages I like.
We're just back from a walk along the shoreline (almost 9000 steps). The sunset was beautiful so looks like another good day is coming tomorrow.😊6 -
Hello Ladies,
Belated birthday wishes Sukeyboo. I am glad you enjoyed your birthday.
Maman, yes I do have floorboards with a rug in my Living room. The rug is a bit flat in places, but I have had it for years. It was a bargain buy from my favourite auction site.
I did some more of the deep clean in my Living room. I love reading and I prefer to read physical books, preferably hard back books, so I have had to dust 104 new books so far, but I own quite a few more. The middle section of the Living room has now been mopped with bleach and the other half of the rug is now clean underneath. I also cleaned out the leather sofa and washed down the back and sides of the sofa. I will do the opposite end of the Living room tomorrow to finish the deep clean.
I am starting another creative writing group on Thursday for 5 weeks.I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to join another creative writing group so soon after the end of the previous one.
My son has just arrived for a visit5 -
hi just catching up,computer is set up on tv, all been unplugged, been having some decorating following new fireplace, everything in middle of room. just a little bit to finish (he's coming back tomorrow) then new carpet lounge stairs and landing. Happy belated birthday Sukeyboo. Everyone sounds busy with cleaning regimes! good time to get straight before Christmas decorations go up.I think that we will be tier 3 unfortunately!7

Hello Ladies,
I am so exhausted from deep cleaning my Living room, that I will not be finishing it today after all. I am aching all over, so I will rest for a few days then finish my Living Room. I have taken some pain killers, so they will kick in about 30 minutes and I will feel more comfortable.
I am going to pamper myself today with a lovely relaxing, long bath. I am also going to put nail polish on my fingernails and toe nails later today.5 -
Good idea sugar- you have to rest and pamper your self. You have done so much in so few days, you will be exhausted.
I have to take a leaf out of your book and do some housework- now that sounds like I live in a hovel but 30 minutes of run around will do so much. I am working outside of the house more and more- so I'm not home as much. I have a lot of chores to do today and only hope places are open. I have tried ringing but sometimes no answer means nothing as they could be on lunch or something.
sometimes fabbing begins by getting our environment right and starting to get all the boring chores done.

You have been really busy sugarbaby and by starting early you can finish at your own pace. Hope you enjoy your bath and pamper session. You've earned it! You want some energy for your writing group tomorrow too. 😊
I posted last week that the fashion pages in my paper were getting desperate. I used to look forward to Wednesday's section for a few tips but no more. Today they featured clothes to wear in every tier of lockdown . What they suggested was blue jeans (black too formal) a top/jumper or jacket with a bit of colour or sparkle and pretty heels to make you feel good. I can see what they mean but I think with doing so much walking I don't think I'll be bothering with the heels and I like my slippers too much indoors! 😁
I think shops are going to end up with a massive amount of party clothes on their hands this year. I'm assuming production and orders were all in place before lockdown started back in March. I suppose there might be some good bargains to be had in January but I can't really think of anything I really need, certainly not in the way of 'dressing up' clothes. I would buy a longer duvet coat with a hood if I could find what I want though. I wore mine yesterday for our walk on the waterfront and it was brilliant except my hair was getting blown around. I plan to tuck a little hat in my pocket . Which reminds me that my favourite everyday woolly gloves (also in my pocket) are getting past it. They're rainbow stripes and make a change from my smart, leather ones. I seem to be making a shopping list! 🤣 Anyone else got plans to treat themselves to anything? Black Friday? 🤔

Hi ladies, I hope that you are more comfortable today @sugarbaby125, it is so hard when our bodies rebel, especially when the mindset is right to get some things done.
I had a couple of busy days earlier, but am lucky that OH is here and willing to do the heavier stuff, currently have the builders here, large hole in the roof ATM, they are fitting a Velux window on the landing for us, needed to move many things and cover the rest, it is a dirty process, but they are very good and also Covid aware.
@maman No plans for BF purchases, I have updated my tech (Kindle Paperwhite, Tablet and phone), also bought a Sage sandwich toaster and waffle maker as well as an inexpensive air fryer for the kitchen. Lockdown has meant that I had adequate funds left without touching or reducing savings, I really do appreciate my good fortune. I would have preferred having the holidays and the resulting memories, but as they say "it is what it is"
I have been guilty of only wearing the same things over and over, I gave myself a hefty kick last week and have actually worn skirts several days, looked good and made me feel good too, will continue, but too cold today with front door wide open and a hole in the roof to boot.
Take care and stay safe. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)4 -
Glad to hear that the hole in the roof is planned maddie. Until I read on it sounded like a disaster! 🤣
You've bought quite a range of gadgets. Like you said, no substitute for holidays but it's something you an use and enjoy.
I'm feeling pretty despondent today. It's not exactly a surprise but we are much worse off in Tier 2 than last month in Tier 1. I'd got used to meeting up with a few friends in with the rule of 6, that was bearable and manageable. Being able to go 'non essential' shopping really doesn't make up for it! It didn't help that my brother phoned and having had their proper firebreak in Wales things are much better there.
We had a walk today. Not so far today as we were walking along shingle for much of the shoreline and that's slow work!
Not much else going on here. Hopefully I'll lift my mood soon. 😉7
