purplepixie keep thinking about all of the progress you have made so far. Maybe you should take some photos of ‘before’ and ‘after’ if your next project to keep you motivated. Coincidently, today was a good reminder for me, of my shed decluttering over the summer. My car needs oil and I was able to walk straight into the shed and pick it up, rather than having to search for it.

Continuing the deep cleaning theme, I spent Friday and Saturday moving the furniture round in my bedroom and living room. It seems to have created more space in both rooms. I also cleaned some silver ornaments and jewellery, just the smell of the polish brings back memories of doing this with my mother when I was little.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget7

Hello Ladies,
Purple Pixie, it is a shame that your husband has lost his motivation for his decluttering, but he will regain his motivation in the future. It is good that you have other tasks that you can get on with.
I woke up at 6am and after spending an hour trying to fall back to sleep, I gave it up as a lost cause. I got on with deep cleaning my Living Room. I started at the end of the room that has the most items that have to be moved, cleaned and put back into place. I had a few items to add to the charity bag. I finished up today with mopping a third of the floorboards with bleach. I will continue tomorrow with the middle of the room and then hopefully finish my Living room deep clean on Wednesday.
After a well earned rest, I had a lovely relaxing bath with Epsom bath salts, bath oil and herbal bath foam. I also gave my feet a pedicure.6 -
Hi everyone, thanks for the encouragement. I got my organiser last night, I think Amazon must be doing longer hours for deliveries. Kitchen drawer looks great, instead of cutlery tray being surrounded by a heap of stuff everything now fits in and it is great.
I went shopping today, part of my sort out involved out of date things going in the bin. Some of it was stuff that I don't use much of but that lasts ages and some was stuff that doesn't have such a long shelf life but because GC haven't been here for nearly 3 weeks they just didn't get used in time.
I went early and Lidl was quiet and I used the self serve checkout so no contact with anyone.
I intend to blitz the spare bedroom tomorrow, I've stripped the bed and put everything in the washing machine and left the bed to air.
My blanket for DD continues to grow and I don't have enough yarn, bit of a miscalculation but I've ordered some and hope it will be delivered tomorrow.
Better listen to Boris now.6 -
Yes, Amazon do seem to be making deliveries at all sorts of times pixie. DD1 has been having Christmas gifts for DGD delivered here and they've turned up really early morning on Sunday and sometimes late at night.
Well done on making a start on your sitting room sugarbaby, especially as you chose the hardest section. Do you have floorboards and rugs? That sounds really stylish.
I know what you mean about the memories of metal polish sft. I have just a few inherited pieces including some brass candlesticks from my grandmother and it always takes me back when I give them a clean.
You're right chanie, it does make a difference when things are tidy. It's not just the look and getting rid of clutter but we know what we have and where to find it.
I did some ironing earlier including a duvet set. I don't normally iron bedding but this one is on its way to the charity shop. I treated us to a new set which we put on the bed at the weekend and I'm very pleased. It's a traditional design of taupe on white but it looks right in the room. It looks a bit like this but mine's from Primark.😁

I also put on some new sheets and plain Oxford pillow cases. I bought these in Asda a while back and I'm really pleased with them especially the fitted sheet which is really deep compared to some of the others which are quite skimpy. I'll definitely buy those again.
Sometimes I think I just want a change. The 'old' duvet set wass looking a bit tired/not as white as it was but I just fancied the new one and it matches the carpet and wallpaper very well. Not very mse, definitely a want rather than a need. 😉7 -

My yarn turned up, post must be working late as well as Amazon.
I think most of us have spent less during lockdown, no meals out no holidays so I think we can allow ourselves a few treats. I'm planning on getting some new bedding. I bought a new duvet in Lidl today, it is Silentnight and was £14.99 RRP was 49.99 I think. Couldn't resist it, I got some new pillows from Amazon last week and they are so lovely, they were Silentnight as well.
Thinking about it my biggest saving has probably been not feeding my teenage grandsons most days. I swear they walk in and eat bread, biscuits, drink juice and then a meal. They are here for about 2 hrs and having more than we do in a day. I never understand where teenage boys put it all, my 3 sons were the same.5 -
Just booked a delivery for Christmas week. I've never done it before and feel a bit nervous about stuff not being delivered so my order is earlier in the week so I will have a chance to go and get anything that is missing. Feel a bit torn as obviously some stuff you want last minute so I will have to go out on Christmas Eve I think. Not sure if I've done the right thing. I'm feeling ridiculously stressed about it, I need to get a grip, we won't starve, it won't be the end of the world if the bread is out of the freezer.
I'm being really ungrateful, I am going to have the bulk of Christmas food delivered and if I do have to go out Christmas Eve it will just be a fast trip to grab some stuff.
This virus is getting to me now. I hope we get the vaccines soon. Hope everyone else is more rational than I am.6 -
Pixie - try not to stress too much - I know things are so different this year, especially the run up to Christmas which can be stressful at the best of times. I am sure your delivery will be fine - you can normally set for things to be substituted if the item you have ordered is unavailable and generally you will only get charged for the one you ordered if they send a more expensive item.
It was my birthday yesterday so we made the most of what we are able to do by going out for a lovely walk by the river and then enjoyed a nice M & S meal in the evening with a bottle of wine 😀.
Love the new duvet set maman - mine is looking a bit tired but until I find a new job I am keeping the purse strings well & truly tightened.
Your cleaning regime is putting me to shame sugarbaby - I must get stuck in soon.4 -
Glad to hear you enjoyed your birthday sukey. 😊
I was really lucky as my birthday was the week before lockdown in March. Little did we know then that it would be our last restaurant meal until our wedding anniversary in August. We were also able to celebrate DH's birthday in September. I have various things pencilled in for next month but all will depend on whether we wend up in Tier 1 (as we were before) or Tier 2. I think we're supposed to know on Thursday. I think Boris is going to have to come up with logical criteria for each tier .
I rarely do online grocery shopping pixie but it is quite painless. I generally take advantage when wine is 25% off as it saves carrying. An order is coming this week. 😉 I'd have thought they'd have lots of stock coming up to Christmas. Personally, because I don't rely on it , I always click no substitutes but that's my choice. You could always have a dry run prior to Christmas just to get the feel of it.
I went out briefly this morning and was pleased, when people watching, to see some much smarter women than usual just in the local shops. Perhaps people are making an effort as they don't get much opportunity to go anywhere. Instead of beige anoraks I saw people with smart, short quilted jackets and tailored trousers. I saw some good, groomed haircuts too, maybe people are grabbing appointments when they can in case they stop again.
It's a lovely autumn day here. I feel I should make an effort and get out for a walk. 😊5
