This is the article about beauty routines:
Home beauty tweaks for lockdown liberation
Pamper, primp and peel your way to happiness, says Hannah Rogers
Not everyone is bothered by beauty regimens. I am. My salon was the last place I went before lockdown 2, and it’s the first place I am booked into the week of our sweet liberation. FYI — that’s just a fortnight away. We are officially halfway through, yippee!
Ooh, you’re thinking, she’s optimistic. Yes, I am. Come December 2, I expect to bounce out of Hershesons with a glossy blow-dry, festive red shellac on my nails and a spring in my step.
Until then (and just in case my well-laid plans are smeared by this pesky virus. Pah! Like that would ever happen), there are small tweaks that those of us that way inclined can do at home.
Before you judge, this is less about vanity and more about keeping morale high. By which I mean avoiding the horror I experienced last week at the sight of my inner thigh, long since tended to by hot wax. Yes, let’s move swiftly on.
Baby feet
No, not the patter of, but rather the somewhat slimy socks that promise smoother, more attractive piggies after use. Baby Foot masks come in bootie form: just slip one on each foot, leave for 15 minutes (or as long as your next Zoom call) and wait for it to peel away the dead skin. Lovely. (£13.10, amazon.com)Grow your own lashes
The three months of lockdown 1 gave us ample time to grow out over-plucked eyebrows. In lockdown 2 it’s all about pimping our lashes. Start applying No 7 Lash Impact Serum now (it goes on like mascara) and see the difference it makes when you’re flirting across a socially distanced pub come December 2. (£16, boots.com)Get glowing
Fake tan doesn’t have to mean a mitt, streaks and stained sheets. Tan Luxe drops mix in with your moisturiser and deliver a subtle, pretty glow overnight — assuming you get the right shade. If it helps, I am fair and freckled and use light/medium. If it doesn’t, at least you have two weeks for an over-zealous glow to fade before re-entering society. (£35, lookfantastic.com)The DIY wax
Yes, you can. I was brave enough — something had to be done about that aforementioned inner thigh. If you think you can hack it, nothing beats Veet Sensitive Easy Grip Body & Legs Wax Strips (£7.29, superdrug.com). Just smooth down and swiftly yank away in the opposite direction of hair growth. Then enjoy extreme levels of self-proficiency and smugness.

I'm here, I'm just not feeling very motivated about anything at the moment. I have lots to occupy myself at home but I just sit around watching YouTube. I am still not feeling 100% either. I tried another water fast of 36 hours this time (it was really difficult!) and I feel quite a bit better. I just can't understand why this stomach bug lasted so long.
I did read about the deep cleaning done on here and as I was feeling better I did scrub my bathroom sink, tiles, bath and kitchen sink last night. I also cleaned and decluttered my kitchen cupboards. It feels like I am always doing that as my kitchen is small and attracts clutter.
I did declutter my 2020 diary as it seems pointless to keep it!
I went for a 30 minute walk today and at least the weather here was bright and not rainy.
I am going to have a hot bath and shave my legs tonight and use lemon scented body lotion and maybe those softer feet socks as I forgot I have a pair of them. I was planning on going to the chiropodist again in December but we will have to see. I want to do my bikini line properly too as I haven't done that for ages!
My husband has to work this week but then he has another two weeks off so at least he will be at home with me. We have to get around to watching some of the films and box sets.

Hello Ladies,
Sukey such a calming view. Thank you for sharing it with us all
Wednesday, good to see you posting. You made a good headway on your cleaning and decluttering, so at least you were motivated to do that much. I am sorry that you are still feeling less than 100% even after fasting, I wish you a speedy recovery, but if your symptoms continue you would be better off having a conversation with your Doctor.
I am having a lazy day apart from doing a few loads of washing and drying. I still find it difficult to be curtailed by my Arthritis but I need to use common sense and wait until I feel able to continue my deep cleaning. I decided to start early, as I knew I would have to take a break between each room. I will get it all done eventually. I do not have to rush.
It was such a lovely afternoon and evening yesterday as my son decided to stay for a visit and to have dinner with us. Mind you it may have been the smell of my jerk chicken legs in the oven and helped him to make the decision to stay around.Normally he just drops off his dirty laundry and picks up his clean laundry and is off back to his student accommodation. I do love cooking for my son and daughter and watching the both of them enjoy my food.

I am sure like many others I hate wearing a mask - so today I have made some Christmas ones for myself and DH with some Christmas fabric from my stash.Debt free and Keeping on Track6

That sounds good Mrs Porridge. I have some stylish home made ones (courtesy of eldest DGD), one in leopard print, one zebra and a floral one. Christmas ones are a brilliant idea. 😊🎄😷 I did a bit of shopping in Home Bargains while I was out and got quite hot and bothered with a mask on but it was still good to get out for a while.
Good to know your son appreciates more than your laundry skills sugarbaby. 😉8 -
I haven't been to a shop for 3 weeks, I had a Sainsbury's delivery yesterday and was chatting to the delivery man as I unloaded the shopping and I suddenly realised that he was the only person I have spoken to face to face in a week, well except for DH. Last week I said hello to the postman and again had a short chat with the delivery man. It is so strange. Today the sun is shining and I have done a packed lunch so we are going to drive down to the beach and sit and watch the sea and eat our lunch. I might be brave and go to the little outdoor cafe and get a takeaway latte, how daring is that.
Had telephone calls from two of my sons yesterday and my sister today so I am lucky but it still seems a very isolated life. Hopefully all this good news about the vaccine means things will be better in 2021, we just need to get their safely. One of my little grandchildren has a birthday in February, wouldn't it be lovely if we can meet up.
I'm not feeling very Christmassy and isn't it hard to think of shopping when we don't know if we can have visitors. It is a strange world we are living in.5 -
I didn't use the foot socks last night as I thought I would keep them in case I can't see the chiropodist next month. I did use heel balm and some fluffy socks on my feet.
I feel a bit brighter today. My husband and I have decided to try Intermittent Fasting as we watched a couple of podcasts about the many health benefits. I found it hard to stick to last time but I thought after doing two water fasts it must seem easier and it is so far. It will at least give me something to focus on during the day. I also used my trampoline this morning and managed 15 minutes which was okay. We both weighed ourselves this morning and we will see what happens each week. I bet my husband loses weight and I don't.We are doing it more for the health aspects anyway.
I just did some laundry and will probably watch some YouTube again this afternoon!
I'm going to do my banana Garnier hair mask tonight. I'm going to wet my hair and put the mask on and put a microfibre towel around my hair and leave it on for an hour.

Wednesday I'm not sure if you are nervous about the chiropodist or if they are closed. Our local chiropodist has stayed open, he says as he is classed as medical he doesn't have to close. Just thought I'd mention it in case you thought they had to close.
Went to the beach, had a latte, bit of a disaster as DH felt unwell and we had to drive straight back, didn't even eat my nice lunch.
I'm distracting myself making a crochet blanket for my DD, she saw mine and liked it so I thought I'd make one for her. I've done it slightly fancier and I'm really pleased with it, I've used what I'd call jewel colours, purples, green and blue with a cream to break it up, I thought about putting red in but it didn't work somehow. I have to remember to count, I'm doing a zigzag pattern, if I get distracted I end up doing a zig when I should be doing a zag which isn't good.
My nails aren't great, they've never been strong but I think all the hand washing and sanitizer is finishing them off. They've also developed big ridges, not sure what that is. I've been looking at some products but haven't decided what to get. I don't want to just put a coat of varnish on as I think that will just make it worse in the long run although maybe I'm wrong and it would protect them. Any nail experts on here? Advice gratefully received.
