Hello Ladies,
I was up very early, as I just could not get back to sleep this morning after my normal early awakening. I decided to finally make a start on the huge task of getting my home completely cleaned in time for Christmas. I started in the kitchen and with the 2 kitchen cupboards that are situated high enough on the wall for me to need my step ladder to reach the top of them.
Unfortunately for me, having more than one type of Arthritis limits how much demanding cleaning I can carry out in any one day, so I am being eminently sensible and allowing my body to dictate the pace. I am not going to try to hurry the process along, as I cannot afford to be incapacitated by pain. I have got my sensible head on today. I shall tackle part of the cleaning every day until the whole maisonette is sparkling clean and ready for my family Christmas and New Year celebrations.9 -
Hello
Hope it's okay to join..........
Sugarbaby, your organisational skills impress me on every thread. I too started on the kitchen this morning. 2 junk drawers (yes 2 !) cleaned, organised, sorted.
Today I will be looking for a suitable moisturiser. Skin very very dry.

Welcome Bala, it is great to see you over on this thread as well. Everyone is very supportive on this thread as well.8

You're very welcome bala. 😊
I wouldn't be without my daily moisturiser. I don't know how much you want to spend but you could do worse than try Lidl and Aldi own brand day cream. It doesn't suit everyone but it's worth a try and if you're not happy with it on your face you could always use it up on elbows, knees and feet.
You're very positive about being able to enjoy Christmas with family sugarbaby. I admire your optimism. I've made some very small steps towards planning Christmas but we'll have to see what transpires in terms of regulations after this lockdown. I know you're governed by your health but, in any event, I think breaking the cleaning down into manageable steps is a great idea.
It's horrid and wet here so I took advantage to spend extra time on my shower. I'm all creamed from head to toe. 😁 I don't mind days like this (provided there aren't too many😉) as I'll just potter about doing some cooking and listening to the radio. Today I'm going to make some soup for lunches as I have carrots that need using up. I'm also determined to have some exercise every day until I can get back to my dancing.10 -
Another one who is trying to clear a declutter before Christmas. Its something for me to do this lockdown. The spare bedroom has been done and DH has gone into the loft and got some books down. I have ordered a small bookcase which should arrive today. Once its up that will clear books from the kitchen (thereby freeing up a cupboard), my craft room (thereby freeing up a window sill) and the books that were in the loft - not to mention the odd ones scattered about the house. How silly, but am excited about getting a bookcase and getting my books organised!Debt free and Keeping on Track9

Bala, I agree with Maman about inexpensive facial day creams. I switched to the Lidl facial day cream some years ago and have never looked back. At £1.47 for a 50ml pot of cream, it is an incredible buy. If it or the Aldi version does not suit your face, then you can use it up as a hand cream, but either one would be worth a try.
Mrs Porridge, not silly at all, it will be great to have all of your books organised on your new bookcase. As a complete bookaholic, I would get very excited if I had room to put another bookcase in my home, but alas I do not.
Maman, it will just be my younger son and daughter here for Christmas as usual. My son is coming home from his London university for 3 weeks over the Christmas and New Year period. He has a longer break, but likes to have some time either end of coming home to himself. As he lives so local, he will definitely be coming home.He almost doubles the weekly grocery budget when he comes home and uses copious amounts of electricity playing his computer games, but I absolutely adore having him at home.
He gets along so great with his sister and the 2 of them can always been found in fits of laughter. There is always far more family games when it is the 3 of us, which is why I have never donated all of their board games from their younger years.
Once I have finished cleaning my home, I will be putting up the Christmas decorations and the tree. I intend to make even more effort this year than in previous years.
I have bought all of the extra supplies, including 6 bottles of low alcohol sparkling white wine and numerous bottles of Shloer in various flavours and bottles of J20 Spritz for the holiday period. I will drink a glass or two of wine on Christmas Day, but I do not drink soft drinks, so it will be bottled water for me the rest of the time.8
