Wednesday I currently have a 6 month magazine subscription for RED which only cost me the introductory price of £10 but as I got a £10 Marks & Spencer gift card for signing up, I am essentially going to get 6 copies of RED worth £4.99 each for free.
I love to hold the physical copy of a magazine or book, but for those that are not bothered, there are also online subscriptions. I have only received 2 copies of RED so far, but I really enjoyed this magazine.
Chanie, as a black woman, I do feel that most weekly and monthly magazines available are not really aimed at black and brown skinned women. I decided to subscribe to Black Ballad, so that I could read articles and personal stories from black and brown women every day online, time permitting. I can also take advantage of cut price or free tickets to events through my Black Ballad premium membership.

Sorry to read about your FIL DurhamMim.
Chanie - I used to read Smash Hits too, haha.
I used to read the UK "celebrity" magazines, probably over 15 years ago now. I wouldn't even know who the people were on the covers these days as I mostly watch all American TV and films.
I know what you mean Sugarbaby as I can read magazines for free on my kindle with Amazon Prime but it doesn't feel the same as holding a real magazine!
I just bought a health magazine - Top Sante and also a copy of Woman and Home. I will see what they are like and if I get anything out of them.

Good morning lovely ladies.
I love magazines, although not the trashy celeb gossip ones like OK or Hello. Pure trash......not even a guilty pleasure........😉
Over the years I have read everything from Jackie to Spare Rib to People's Friend, via Cosmo and NME. 😂. I have to say magazines are not what they were......I recently counted that one magazine I was looking at had over half of its contents given over to advertising, very little in the way of articles and at over £4 a pop, I think they are just not worth the money. Even the once mighty Vogue isn't a patch on what it used to be. I didn't buy it every month, but every now and then it was my special treat.....Don't even bother with that now. Last time I bought it I was so disappointed.
However I am very lucky.....our library lets you borrow them for a week for free so I can get my fix..... Some good publications too. I mainly read the posh interior design magazines, also Psychologies, Derbyshire Life, Red, Woman and Home and a couple of health ones, can't remember the names. If they are free then you don't mind if you only read one article .....I certainly wouldn't pay for that little lot. I have amazon prime, never thought about looking on there. I must give it a try.
Well the expected storm hasn't arrived yet, although it has been raining and it's grey and murky. So I'm going to have an at home day. Housework, and give myself a skin peel and do some decluttering. Aiming to do a tip run next week, if we get a dry day.
Glad you are feeling brighter Candy. It's nice when the "gloom" lifts isn't it......I think sometimes we don't even notice that we are in the doldrums, it's only when the black clouds dissipate that we suddenly realise we feel better, more energised and more optimistic.
Went to see Emma last evening. It was fun.....nice posh lunch tomorrow at my favourite restaurant. Almost time to come out of my winter hibernation.
Have a lovely weekend. Keeeeep Fabbing dahhhhlings. 😘

Oh yes, Just Seventeen was the other mag I read as a teenager.
I couldn't think what it was called yesterday.
I liked Top Sante so I set up a subscription for 13 copies as it does work out cheaper that way. I realised that was one of the ones I used to read. I was looking at Psychologies magazine too.
I was looking through the Woman and Home magazine and they have quite interesting articles. There was an article about women in midlife becoming flatmates. SpareRoom (flat sharing website) said that there has been a 700% increase in women aged 45-54 looking for a flatmate over the past decade.
I just made a delicious veggie curry with a jarred Korma sauce I bought. It was so lovely! We are watching more of Supernatural later on and I am going to use my foot spa and then put on those exfoliating socks that take the dead skin off your feet. Then put on foot cream and fluffy socks. I have ordered some rose essential oil that is arriving later from Amazon. I love using my oil diffuser in my house.2025 GOALS

I have been keeping up with the exercise and trying to get the steps in. The weather was a bit changable theis weekend so was limited to working out inside only.
I mentioned that last week I cleared out items that were a bit frumpy or not my style. I pulled out new items i saved till I could fit into them. I was able to wear dresses that I had saved with the tags for a while. All the diet change seems to be having some effect. It seems to be vety difficult to loose weight, I've really changed the diet and the mindset last year, this year all the changes are even more reinforced.

Good morning lovely ladies
Brrrr. Still windy and rather nippy but at least the worst seems to be over. As far as I can tell no further damage, no more water ingress so the roof guys did a good job. Don't know about you lot but I'm really fed up with it all now. I'm a mass of aches and pains, I feel that I really need some warm sun on my bones.
But.....I count my blessings.... I have been let off lightly......some people are really struggling. It must be awful to have your home flooded. My garden is flooded again of course but it doesn't really impact me that much......some dead shrubs is hardly worth bothering about.
Had a lovely weekend with my fab family. Lovely to have a little get together for no particular reason, purely for the joy of being together. Time for family, friends and loved ones is top of my agenda this year.
My dear FIL died yesterday morning. He was 97 God love him. He was a wonderful man, sorry to see him go but he was ready. A "good innings" as they say. We rose a glass in his honour.
Not much news this end....... aiming to do a bit more decluttering today, ready to do a tip run one day this week. The plan is to do one tip run a week until the job is finished. Ive also set aside some items to sell so will get on that too at some point.
Right time to get cracking....,have a great week, y'all.

Hi all,Had a lovely trip away - Stranger Things was great fun and enjoyed wearing my 'punk' outfit. Took me back to my teen years lol! (Tbh I was a bit more goth/rock than punk but similarities) We were pretty lucky with the weather as well, bit cold and windy but managed to dodge most of the showers in London. Bit nastier at the weekend when hit the NW to visit the folks but at least managed to get home so can't complain really.Weighed with a bit of trepidation this morning as I did have a few treats while I away - have maintained though so shall take that. I'm feeling quite positive as I tried to go with the idea that was on holiday so wasn't going to be super strict but still trying to think about food options and portion size - it's reassuring that can have a more relaxed week once in a while and not pile it all back on again
Anyway it's nice to be home and have a quiet day today before back to work tomorrow.
Hope everyone's doing well, shall try and catch up with all your posts later x8 -
Hello Ladies,
I find myself very affected by the suicide of Caroline Flack even though I had not been particularly interested in the programmes she hosted. I just feel that it was just so sad that with all of the career success she had achieved, she had never been able to really enjoy her personal life, because all her personal mistakes were held up for everyone else to comment on. Domestic abuse is never acceptable no matter who the perpetrator is, but I am still wondering why the CPS went forward with her prosecution when she was not a 'danger to the public'.
I cannot begin to imagine the pain and anguish that Caroline's family are feeling, but I hope that the media will leave them alone in their very private grief. I also hope that Caroline's celebrity friends will keep their comments and their need to apportion blame to themselves and not take to their Twitter accounts and other social media accounts to air their views as this too will only bring more anguish to Caroline's family.
I had a fall today at the top of one of the flights of stairs in the maisonette I live in. I am not sure if I simply lost my balance or that my right knee collapsed but I landed very heavily on one of the steps. I was in pain and so winded, that it took me a few minutes before I could grab onto the bannister and haul myself to my feet. My right knee and ankle are a bit painful. I have taken painkillers and I will be keeping my feet up. I am thankful that I did not fall down the whole flight of stairs. Arthritis is the medical condition that just keeps on leaving me with obstacles to overcome.
