Hope the new job is going well chanie. I'm a bit on edge, one of my kids had a covid test on Wednesday and no result yet. Their school had to close down as so many teachers with covid or isolating so if she can get back to teaching it will be a big help for the school. I'm feeling a bit bored but can't decide what to do. I have some wool so could do some crochet, have a pile of new books so could read, having ingredients so could bake but I don't feel like any of it. Maybe I'll buck up if DD gets a nice negative result.
I bought a new firestick on Amazon Prime Day so can now watch netflix or prime in bed if I want to, it seemed worth it for under £30.

I'm getting prepared for potential lockdown. Got new clothing for the winter and some extra sport equipment and sorted out the hair. I guess this time I'm not panic buying as nowhere ran out of food.
I honestly didn't look too much at amazon day, the billionaire seems to be doing ok without my help. Its gonna be a mess shopping with them as I will have to use the German or french site to buy as it will cost tariffs and no eu protection. I can translate the sites online. Amazon were not great about helping customers who are eu based.
I'm going to try shop local to keep business going. I'm afraid of the supply chain getting slower this winter more so in January when things get sticky with customs and post Christmas and new year covid rise and consequential staff shortages I can foresee things being longer in transit. I predict a few 747 and 787 freighters will need to move freight. I'm all doom and gloom.
Basically covid and brexit will mess up goods moving as freely, but hopefully it will not impact me to badly as I imagine the hauliers will stop driving through the UK as a land bridge to ireland. The stuff will be loaded on mersk container ships from France and go direct sailing to Ireland. Hopefully saving some pollution from hgvs going from Dover to holyhead.
So anyway I am trying to buy local and reduce the impact of spending going to large multinationals.4 -
I got a new hair do before what I hope is not a lock down- this time I am being organized. I got about 2 - 3 months months of sustainable fuel for the stove. I am moving to click and collect groceries shopping from now on as it is easier to budget. I ended up buying a duvet in the centre isle and a jacket (which was like a tent) that I had to return. I donated a few items of clothes that were cluttering the wardrobe up. Its all a matter of being practical for the next few months.

I'm relieved I got my hair cut as well this month.
I have noticed that my loo roll has been missing from my shopping deliveries twice now as they said were out of stock so some people must be bulk buying again. I saw that a local shop is selling loo roll quite cheaply so I will buy from there as I can pass the shop every day on my walk.
I like the black lounge wear I got from Amazon and I will buy more of them. They are very soft and comfortable too. I need to order some new knickers as well.
I'm off to have a bath and then get dressed and go out. It's quite nice and bright here. I have started taking 5-htp tablets as they helped last winter and I prefer taking that to anti-depressants. I have my light box too although I'm trying to get real vitamin D from the daylight.
It feels so good to get out and walk again after being cooped up at home all last week. I feel totally back to my normal health now.

savings lots of great prep for winter.
wednesday I haven’t had any problems buying loo roll. I did notice shelves were empty a few weeks ago, but this was when there were rumours of a second lockdown. I think it’s calmed down since then. It may be easier to buy in person.

It was Ocado and Tesco deliveries that both arrived without loo roll. I will just buy locally as the shops around here did run out during the last lockdown so if I buy some each day I can make sure we don't run too low. It was good value in the local shop. £2.99 for 9 rolls.
I ordered some more lounge wear. They were out of my size in black so I bought navy instead. I treated myself to a bunch of fresh flowers when I was out as well. A cheap way to brighten up indoors.

My husband bought a light box last week, he reckons it has made him feel better. He hates the dark days of winter and will be in a grump this weekend when the clocks change, I like the changes with the seasons honestly we are so different I'm not sure how we've lasted this long.7

chanie- it was not winter prep, unfortunately. The government put us on a 6-week full lockdown so It was a mad dash to get some winter clothing before shops and business close down. Only supermarkets, pharmacies and petrol stations will be open. Of course, the horse racing will go ahead- can't keep the horses stopped. I will only be able to travel 5 km from home or face fines. The schools are remaining open so hopefully they can get some education- it's not ideal being closed or open- they are just doing their best.
I had to get a hi-vis jacket, winter jackets, sweaters, and a few basics in the sports shop. What a mad situation. We have 48 hours before everything shuts until mid-December.
I want to keep active so bought the hi-vis jacket to keep walking- Is this a normal thing elsewhere? I never have seen people walking in builders hi-vis jackets in other countries. It's harder to keep active as it is colder and wetter outside. But I have hats, scarves, and need to be motivated as staying in on the dark days is too much- it leads to too much eating and lack of joy.
Purplepixie- Could you tell me which lightbox your husband box- I have often wanted to get one - but this year I think It might be advisable to have every chance to improve mood.4
