I meant to say that I asked the pharmacist today if they were running low on flu jabs as I had read that about Boots. She said they were and they were no longer taking online bookings. She said she knows that some GP surgeries are also running low. Just a thought if anyone on here is getting a jab. I'm glad I booked up in advance as I thought this might happen. I'm not sure if it is just where I live, though.
I finished my book and have bought the next one from Amazon. I know I said I wasn't supposed to be buying any more books but I found it a good read and I wanted to read the next one. I still have 44 books on my kindle so I have a lot to go through this winter!
It actually was quite nice weather out today, typical as soon as I put the heating on and the weather changed from chilly. I think I'm going to make myself Colcannon tonight.6 -
Still mostly lurking along ladies 👋 Just popping out of lurkdom to say that I also had my flu vaccination at Boots last week Wednesday & the pharmacist said they have run out of flu vaccination stock in our branch. Apparently a lot of businesses are using corporate deals to buy up the stock for their employees (I got mine through work).
My DS who is 3 had his nasal flu vaccination today along with his MMR booster jags so he wasn't particularly happy. He was very brave though and didn't cry and I gave him some chocolate afterwards as a wee treat. He was happy enough as he was going to nursery this afternoon and he loves it. He came out of nursery covered in mud, it's even on his scalp. 🤦♀️ I hope it comes out of his nursery jumper, it cost me £12 because it has the nursery logo on it. 😮
Wednesday have you thought about buying reusable cotton/bamboo pads for make up removal? I bought some on amazon and use them with micellar water to take my make up off before cleansing then chuck them in a mesh bag until I'm doing a white wash and the bag just goes in as well. They're easy to use and you don't run out unless you're behind with the washing! Mind you my washing machine is on every day with small kids and I also use cloth nappies and csp so it wasn't a big jump for me.

We have a large student population too pixie, but fortunately still only low Covid numbers. We're on 37 in 100 000 whereas Manchester is 500+ and your area 300+. I haven't seen many students about but maybe that's because I haven't been anywhere much! 🤣
Snap to the stew! 😋😁 I've just put some on for lunches for me as DH isn't a fan. I've made a traditional Welsh cawl which is really just a broth with minimal meat for flavour and heaps of root veg.
Dancing was brilliant this afternoon. Today was in a dance studio with an amazing floor. I wore a long skirt and long sleeved White Stuff top. There were mirrors everywhere so was very conscious of posture LL. 😉
I'll post again in the boring post competition. 😁6 -
It doesn't seem to matter which I use it's still a faff getting rid of the leaves. The strainer in the little teapot or the single cup thing are easiest to empty completely although they still need rinsing. The basic one is best for a bigger number of people but the teapot still needs washing out. I tend to have loose leaf tea as a treat - Earl Grey or Assam for Masala Chai- but mostly I use tea bags. 😉😁

maman thanks for joining the boring thread. I didn’t realise that teabags were made of plastic. When I found out, i made a mental note to try using tea leaves. I’m finding it a bit of a faff, so I may just try and it at work for now.

I have a tea maker that I got from Amazon and you can use loose leaf or teabags in there.
Maman - I have a teacup with that same pattern. Emma Bridgewater?
Sashy - No I haven't thought about using them although that is a good idea. How many washes do the reusable pads last for?
It's a different mascara I'm using at the moment that is hard to get off. I tried my face wash and also oil cleansing but the facial wash didn't take off the mascara and the oil kept getting in my eyes and hurting. I maybe should just go back to my old mascara, thinking about it!
I'm about to watch the second half of The Comey Rule with my hubbie.
Tomorrow I want to go for a walk to get in some steps and listen to a podcast, buy some fresh fruit and cinnamon from the shop, read some of my new book, clean the bathroom and then research some presents for my husband's upcoming birthday.
I might go and drop off the bag to the charity shop on my walk as I didn't do it today. I think there is a local shop I can walk to that is taking donations.2025 GOALS

Many thanks everyone for the good wishes , My GD is doing great,
Maman
Why stop at Lego, your DGD deserves a medal moll. What a sweetie. So pleased to hear that it wasn't as bad as it might have been.
Is your concern that more people will go to the leisure club as they open up more facilities? I'd have thought they'd have a Covid safe limit. I know that applies to my dancing classes.
What worries me about opening up the the sauna and steam room , they closed it because it was a health risk at the begining of lockdown with sweat dripping from the ceiling inside onto people , then the people who come out ( The sauna is at the side of the pool ) always jump in the pool to cool off, they have a limit of 10 people which is far too many if all in the pool ( Its a tiny pool ) , but when you book you can see how many are in , Usually 4 at the most, but now the other bits are open im expecting the numbers to rise, Im still in isolation for another week , ill assess how its gone then ,
Chilly again tonight , Think a nice warm bath is in order and a lot of pampering . . Without not sounding too crude, I keep getting a lot of itching down below , so i cant chuck the perfumed stuff in the bath , Not as nice , but still ok xx

I have been internet shopping again and bought myself a couple of dresses in the Hell Bunny sale - Fantasia and Felicia - they arrived today and are a nice fit and length so I'll keep them. But I really need to go through my clothes and get rid of the things I don't wear or even particularly like so that I can wear the nice things more regularly.
I've not been able to wear any shoes or boots recently, just trainers, as I have an infected ingrown toenail 🤢. It's been hanging about for weeks now, I had a week's course of antibiotics which cleared it up but it started to get infected again within days.
I self referred 2 weeks ago and the first appointment I could get with a podiatrist was for this week & in the next town, so I'm just keeping my toe clean by bathing it, using antiseptic ointment and wrapping it up when I need to wear my trainers. It's been so painful and my DS keeps standing on it for some reason! Amazingly it was quicker going through the NHS than going to a private clinic in my town. 🤷♀️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Wednesday I switched to reusable cotton pads about a year ago. I only use them once my face is clean, with my facial toner, which is why they are still white. I wash them once a week, along with my children’s school shirts, so they fit in with my regular routines. The downside is that they arent cheap, I think I paid about £15 for 20 of them on ebay. I wanted to buy enough so they would last me for 1.5 weeks, using 2 a day, as I hate having to scramble to wash things. I did buy them for environmental reasons, but I really valued having them during lockdown, as it was one less think I needed to think about.
i still use regular cotton pads for removing nail varnish though, as some of them aren’t suitable (and I don’t want them stained).6
