Discovered my daughter in law (GP) and one granddaughter had to have covid tests last week, so whole family off work/school. result should have come in by 11pm thursday, so they planned to be off work/school friday. but they suddenly came in friday morning at 8am, both negative, thankfully, but it was a mad scramble to get everyone out the door to school and work at the last minute. a lot of consequences for this new way of life!7

Maman.. a few items I didn't declutter at the start of the summer promising myself
That I would use them. Well, I only wore them once and didn't love the items. I'm going to just clear out a few dresses that are suited to someone else.
If I limit my clothing into more decent clothes for work and a few miles from the house. I find the clothing for within the house difficult as hoodies look like slob gear on me. So I'm going to get rid of worst.
The spicy sauce for tomorrow sounds much better.
Its easy to get tasty but unhealthy ready meals and take aways. I don't know many super fast meals that are effortless that are healthy. Even a jacket potato can be high in carbs.6 -
everyone's had a busy day it seems. Plenty of nice sounding meals. Being on my own I get stuck what to make. I cooked a chicken yesterday. I had my Brother for tea, we had roast dinner, took a plate up to my Daughter who is getting her appetite back, plated up some for tonight. Quick tea then off to gym , managed my 40 lengths in just 35 mins, got 20.733 steps in, smashed my 100k in sept, 2 days to go! raised £375 to date for MND. Quite proud of myself!Called with some more broncho stop cough mixture for my Daughter. She can go and have another covid test tomorrow. If negative whe can return to work towards end of the week. She's coped quite well, her 2 little puggles have only been able to go out in the garden. They will be ready for a run around!8

SFT. I haven't lost any weight this week, just holding steady. A bit disappointing, but at least it's not a gain. I'll just have to persevere. I agree with you about white fish though, it definitely needs a sauce to perk it up a bit.Actually you have helped me decide what to give DS1 tomorrow. He loves kedgeree and I have some smoked haddock in the freezer so I'll make that. It's funny but even now I do like to cook my sons their favourites. I guess once a mum, always a mum. 😊.It is so nice to see their eyes light up though when you dish up something you know they love but tend not to cook for themselves. The other day I did shepherds pie......DS1s face when he saw it was a picture. I had told him I was doing spag Bol but then changed my mind. He was chuffed to bits. You are right about quick healthy meals, especially if you are tired after work. Can you Sometimes cook a bit extra and freeze some so that you have some healthy ready meals on standby. Then just add veg or salad. Quick meals for me are often some protein - meat, fish, chicken and then a salad. Omelettes are quick although I don't really find them very substantial, ok for lunch or breakfast but not really enough for dinner/supper. I find stirfries quick and easy, especially if I cheat and buy the stir fry veg ready prepped. I am not above taking a few short cuts like buying prepped veg, especially if I can get them yellow stickered. 😅8

I think it is lovely to make food that you know your sons and family enjoy. It shows you care LL and were really thinking of them.
Holding steady is great LL. The line is trending downwards. Honestly, it is a great thing as the slower progress resets the body to a new normal.
I'm having a not great week, activity wise as am feeling not great. However, I want to get back to activity soon. As long as the line trends downwards we all are doing ok.
Sheila.. you are doing brilliant so much activity. My goodness you must wear heels down so fast. Your skin must be glowing.
I saw a YouTube video of 4 women doing a 10000 step a day challenge. They didn't lose a load of weight but their skin glowed and improved at each week of the challenge. It was not mentioned by the paritispants but the glow was something that could not be replicated by a bottle of makeup.5 -
I'm feeling like a right loser with how many steps the ladies on here are getting in!
So many more than I am doing.
To be fair I only count when I walk outside so maybe I must have more when I'm indoors, walking to the fridge and back, haha.
I am going to go for a 3 mile walk tomorrow morning to go to another Superdrug and then Holland & Barrett, hopefully. East London is one of the worst hit areas apparently, even though the app I now downloaded said I am only medium risk.
I am doing a heavy face cream tonight as my skin is feeling dry lately.6 -

Hello Ladies,
I was sorting out all of the items that I have already bought for Christmas presents this morning.I have presents for my 3 granddaughters, my grandson and his girlfriend, my 4 sisters, my older daughter, my son-in-law and my younger son. I have put everything into named clear freezer bags, so that I am now aware of whom I have already bought presents for. I am being a lot less generous with presents this year as who know what the future heralds. My family all love Christmas and exchanging presents, so I still wanted to buy presents for my more immediate family members that I am really close to.
I have also started buying the food extras for Christmas. I find that if I start buying a few items with my online grocery shop each week at least for the 12 weeks prior to Christmas week. I will not have to do a large shop for Christmas and New Year, as I will have spread the cost of the extra food over the preceding weeks.
My older son and younger daughter have decided that they prefer not to exchange Christmas presents with me this year due to their lack of funds. My older son is fortunate enough to still have employment, but he is struggling. My younger daughter is unemployed.
I want a really festive Christmas with delicious home cooked food, a table laid with a cloth tablecloth, napkins, crystal glasses and my best crockery. I am going to go all out with the Christmas decorations and decorating the Christmas tree.
From the 1st week of November , I will start a deep clean of my home, tackling one room per day with rest days in between so that I do not overtire myself or aggravate my Arthritis pain.
I was also sorting out what items to pack in a small box to send to my sister J for her 60th birthday on October 14th. I will seal up the box and post it nearer the date.7 -
Freetodo, well the shredder is hanging on to life by a thread! I have three big black bin bags full of the shredded paper, it isn't all done but is a big improvement. My husband can't even use the luddite excuse as
he loves gadgets and computers, writes computer programmes and likes nothing more than repairing a computer. I think his hoarding is a sort of mental illness, he knows it makes him miserable, he knows it does nothing to improve our lives but he just can't seem to help it. I suppose it is hard as I am so much the opposite and can't understand it and he thinks I am going to throw things out if he doesn't hang onto them. Toxc mix.
We've had a bit of a plumbing fest starting off with the new boiler which is great, then the loo broke so had to have a new one and a tape stopped working. Yesterday we had to have the plumber back as a radiator started leaking, he leaned back (small downstairs loo) and the waste under the sink snapped so he had to come back today and fix that. I am hoping all plumbing issues are now resolved but I do need a new bathroom which is going to have to wait till next year.
I'm feeling very fed up with covid, I feel so sorry for those kids who have gone off to uni and are locked in their halls. So glad my kids are past that and GC not quite there and yes Maman if I hear unprecedented again I will scream, not to mention moon shots, circuit breakers, whack a moles, flattening sombreros. I wish we had a grown up government that was capable of talking like adults.
We had a beef casserole last night, it felt like proper winter comfort food with lots of buttery mash and veg. Not sure what we are having tonight, maybe fish?
Stay safe everyone.8
