Good Morning lovely ladies.Love the purple outfits SUgarbaby. I am another one who likes tonal dressing. I found it very helpful when I was heavier.Sheila.....good to hear your daughter is on the mend.Had to laugh about the price of scarves. I think there must be an alternate universe out there, one in which people think nothing of spending silly amounts of money on designer items etc.I have a beautiful vintage white mohair coat. I bought it in a Chazzer for £10. When I paid for it the lady at the till actually stroked it and said "they dont make them like this any more". Well just the other day I saw one quite similar on Etsy for £425. As much as I like my coat I don't think I would pay that much for one. I suppose I could sell it if ever I got desperate for money. 😁
Judging from the descriptions and photos of outfits that you ladies share sometimes I reckon we could teach some of these spendthrifts a thing or two about style and design. As SUgarbaby demonstrates we don't need oodles of cash to look good. Its the same with interior design. I love a bit of property !!!!!! and often look at premium properties on RightMove. I am often astonished at how tacky some of them look.Money can't always buy style and good taste.😂🤣6 -
Looks like another nice day here. I made a start on my wardrobes yesterday, but think I might have a break today and spend some time in the garden. There's a few more jobs I would like to do before the bad weather hits. I can finish the wardrobes when it's raining.I have put the garden furniture and BBQ away, the boiler is being serviced later today and the chimney sweep is coming on Wednesday. So that's about it, hopefully I'm all organised. The decorator still hasn't painted the outside.....I think it's getting a bit late now. If he doesn't come soon it will have to wait until next year. A bit annoying to the least......I have downloaded the track and trace app. We are still medium risk here.Stay safe and well.6

My phone is too old for the app. It is a smart phone. Not sure what to do, I pay £5 a month for my giffgaff and don't really want to spend hundreds on a new phone or sign up to an expensive contract. Really annoying. Is the govt trying to get us all to spend more money? DH is very techy and he says there is no reason why they can't do the same thing on older smart phones so is it deliberate or are they being as useless as they usually are.5

Mine is an Iphone, several years old now so definitely not the most up to date. And tbh it wasn't the most recent incarnation when I got it. I think it's an IPhone 6. Oddly enough they contacted me last week and asked me if I wanted to upgrade. Didn't bother. Can't see the point if I'm honest, it serves me well enough for what I need.Maybe they will roll out the app for older phones in the near future. There do seem to have been a lot of issues getting it up and running, hopefully it will continue to improve fairly soon.Think the decorators ears must have been burning.......
spoke to him a few minutes ago. 😂5 -
I've seen alot of people with iphone 6 saying they can't access it, I wonder if there are software updates? I must ask my son who has one. I don't have an iphone, my phone was 2nd hand when I bought it 6 years ago so definitely not a recent one but it works perfectly and does what I need, the only issue I have is that the camera on it isn't great but that is rarely a problem as I'm not big on taking photos everywhere I go. The battery died last month and I was upset at the thought of having to buy another phone but DH realised it was the batter and a new one cost me £10 and it's as good as new now.
I've read reports that some places won't let you in without the app which is a worry, not that we go out much.6 -

I agree it's perfectly possible to look good without spending a fortune. What I like about the CSs is that you an pick up a quality garment for the same price (or less) than brand new fast fashion. The same applies to TK Maxx but, as with CSs, you have to be prepared to browse regularly as sometimes there are good bargains other times nothing.
It's another glorious autumn day here. I don't plan to go out but maybe will tomorrow as I need cards for various October birthdays. I really need to take myself in hand and plan regular walks like you Wednesday.5 -
😂🤣😂🤣. I thought it was just my eldest son who was paranoid about the app being directly linked to the Chinese government. Lol.Yes Pixie ...you are right some establishments won't let you in without you registering the app first. but if you are say, going into a pub or restaurant, you are likely to be there for a couple of hours so the risks of transmission would be higher. Like Maman says, I think it's unlikely to catch the virus just by passing someone in the street or supermarket. My understanding is also that you need to be in close proximity to someone for around 15 minutes, unless of course they cough on you.I agree it does all seem a bit Orwellian but I guess for the time being, distancing and tracing and tracking are probably the only weapons we have. A vaccine may well be a long time coming, if ever.Having said it's Orwellian tbh if I ruled the world I would have gone much further, much faster. Surely the government could have learned from the mistakes it made in March. There was an excuse then, the virus was new and no one really knew what they were dealing with. Now we know more and we should be putting that knowledge to work.I would close all venues of entertainment down immediately for say two weeks and then review the situation (continuing full furlough to help businesses and individuals to stay afloat). We have spent so much money that I don't think another two weeks wouldn't have made that much difference to the economy but it might have been enough to damp down the virus if they had acted swiftly. The 10pm curfew is an absolute joke......you only have to see what happened at the weekend.....people partying in the streets and crowding into tubes and buses. Surely the powers that be could have seen that one coming. It was a given,
Also I would not have allowed the universities to herd students into halls of residence. It was a huge and totally unnecessary risk, they could have stuck with online learning for this semester and then reviewed the situation in the new year. But, as always, greed and profit win the day. 😟Lovely autumn day here too. I have just spent a happy couple of hours cleaning my brick paved drive. After I have digested my lunch.....a very rare treat of cheese on toast .....I am going to do some weeding.4 -
I got a message about the app yesterday. I haven't done it yet. I haven't been going on public transport that much but I don't understand what happens if you are standing near someone who tests positive when you are on the tube for 15 minutes.
I went out today to walk to Superdrug but the store must have closed as I was walking for ages and couldn't find it! It was open last year. At least that meant I got in 8000 steps today. That will mean I will probably have to go on the tube one day this week to go to another store.
I wore my red tights (they felt really bright compared to my usual black ones) and I thought the red cardigan looked too much so I wore my burgundy one instead. I didn't even need it as the weather has gone back to warm here. I was going to buy purple tights as well as they probably will be a bit more subtle. I won't order them this week as my husband is on nights and I don't want to woke up by a delivery driver. I might get some purple dye as well and find some clothes to dye in October at some point.
I managed to avoid the chazzers and Gregg's today.

AFAIK you can still give your details manually if you don't have the app. I hope so anyway. ☹️
I think 'unprecedented' is wearing a bit thin now. Too many of the actions aren't thought through properly. It's all very well putting lockdown plans in place but that shouldn't be done without criteria for success and review.
I don't necessarily agree with the motives of the group of MPs who are insisting on parliamentary approval for curbing freedoms but I think it could have a good unintended outcome. If something has to be debated then all the errors and loopholes will be raised in advance. So, if the decision to open schools and send people back to offices had been debated then there wouldn't have been any excuse for not anticipating the increased need for testing. That was a joke! ☹️
Apologies for getting carried away. It doesn't take much to wind me up on the politics of it all. 😉8 -
Hello Ladies,
I too got an invite to download the app. I have a smartphone that is so old, that it is impossible for me to add any apps to it. I never use it for more than calls and texts, so I never intend to upgrade my phone.
I got myself another pair of new Van Dal sandals for only £10.98 including P & P costs from eBay. I wanted them, so I bought them for myself. I will most probably not wear them until spring or summer 2021. They look lovely on my feet and are ultra comfortable as well as being stylish.
