Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

Pixie I feel the same as you about Christmas, I love my family but a quiet one would be quite nice for a change. I have been married for 47 years and think I may have cooked over 40 Christmas dinners !!!! It does get a bit challenging the most I have had to cook for is 13.
I read an article in the paper a few weeks ago by Bel Mooney who agreed that many people would not accept being apart from families at Christmas so I agree that there could be problems ahead.
Thanks so much for the shredder tip Floss, although like maman I am so pleased when DH takes over.
Went out early with DH this morning and walked round a local nature reserve, beautiful sunny morning we stood and watched a huge flock of long tailed tits in the hedgerow . Further on I looked for the family of swans we have been watching since the spring, the 2 adults had 9 cygnets and this morning they were all together still despite the youngsters being as big as the adults,
DH said they will stay together for the winter but it was great to see they had been so successful.
Even managed to pick a few of the last blackberries before it started to rain and we had to run back to the car.

Hi everyone.Pixie - I used the term “Luddite” incorrectly. I meant that my OH, much as he embraces technology, doesn’t embrace on-line banking. My partner is like yours - he’s into every gadget and technology you mention. He can turn his hand to anything. He’s built power supplies, you name it and even installed central heating nearly 40 years ago when we didn’t have much money (of course, we had to get it approved by a recognised heating engineer). When I said he doesn’t like on-line banking, he DOES use it to pay bills but prefers to use the local bank a few miles away to draw money out. Why? 🙄. He says he likes the personal touch, bless him. It has just recently closed down so he will have to use a cash machine or let ME be his bank! I’ve warned him that ‘Free’s’ bank doesn’t offer credit!
I mentioned a week or so that I crashed into the shower and broke the shower door. We went to a bathroom place ago just over a week ago and we’re getting the replacement glass in the next few days. Luckily it was only the door that broke so we can still use it but unfortunately we have to replace all the glass so it was more expensive than we thought it would be. Our toilet is also over-flowing but OH managed to fix it temporarily. The guy who came to sort out our shower said OH had done a good job by reducing the water pressure but if it didn’t work it would mean a far bigger job by removing the toilet from the wall and repairing it☹️ so hopefully we might have got away with it.
With regard to eBay - I have bought (and sold) many items. I sold a lot of my work clothes when I retired (as well as giving a lot to charity) and I have bought a lot of stuff on there which have been great. My particular weakness is Paul Costelloe tops. When I was working I wore them under jackets and when the heating kicked in too much, when I took them off, they looked equally as good. I have found several replacements for the ones I have worn out of and now wear them in the house. I like to wear comfy jumpers out of the house in winter but I can’t wear them indoors as I get so hot. Today the weather outside is quite chilly but, although I wore a long sleeve top in the morning, I am sitting here in my Paul Costelloe sleeveless top now, as the central heating has kicked in. If I lived by myself I wouldn’t turn the heating on but my partner, since he had his heart attack, feels the cold so much and despite wearing sweaters the thermostat has to be of a certain temperature. I don’t care, at least I am stylish in my Paul Costello top😁6 -
I oven baked salmon fillets and made a white cabbage, onion and other vegetables stir fry to go with it for mine and my daughter's dinner this evening

I like carb free dinners as I try and limit the amount of simple carbohydrates for dinner. I really cut out all carbohydrates a few years ago before the dietian told me they were needed.
I have to have some oats nearly daily in the morning to keep me going.
I use cannoli beans or pinto beans that I soak and boil myself as an alternative to pasta or potatoes. Of course I'm immune to the wind effects as I'm used to them but I get extra fiber and protein.

I just went to a £1 chazzer. I think that will be the last time I go in a while as I'm getting worried again about travelling on public transport. I have my flu jab next week that I have to go into town for but that will be all for a while.
I got a knitted vest, a white cardigan and a white top as I'm going to buy some purple dye to dye them into a more interesting colour. I also found a lovely size 14 purple coat. Not bad for £4!
I am making potato wedges and salad for lunch. I was reading about low carb and keto again and I was thinking of trying it next week. I was going to test my blood sugar to see if it changed. LL - I will pm you to ask what kit you use if you don't mind as I'm sure you said you do that at home.

Made the mistake of watching Boris last night and have felt a bit fed up ever since. Pulled myself up this morning and did lots of sewing (am making a quilt on machine and by hand - well actually 3 quilts)! Found a jar of mincemeat in the cupboard which was still in date from last year and made up a batch of mini mince pies - they are delicious though I say it myself, they are very small though, only one bite and its gone! Was hoping to put some in the freezer but DH has got his hands on them.
Have also made some pizza dough, tonight is pizza night with a topping of sausage casserole (left over from yesterday), some defrosted pepper slices and lots of cheese - served with some left over home made potato salad.
Also done a bit of decluttering and we have the joy of a trip to the dump tomorrow.Debt free and Keeping on Track8
