PebbIes the kitten is settling in and is cautiously playing and exploring. DD is delighted with her cat as we surprised her. It was a bit of a mad rush as we were due to pick the cat up in early August and then the date shifted to today. Yesterday, I hot-footed it to town to buy the stuff we needed. As I’m determined to support local businesses more, I went to an independent pet shop rather than a major chain.Today, I popped to IKEA to buy some throws for the leather sofa to protect them from cat scratches. I saw loads of people who weren’t wearing masks or who had their masks pulled down etc. I know there are exemptions, but I was surprised by the numbers of people who weren’t wearing them. I was minding my own business, but it was just an observation.6

savingfortomorrow said:wednesday- I wonder if sizing could be done to a universal standard. Its so frustrating. I tend to stick to brands I know if I've bought online because I know how they fit. returning clothes online is worse than returning them to a shop.
I find it easier buying from chazzers as I can usually tell by eye what things will fit me. I don't usually go by the size it says on the label.
I am going to venture out to the chazzers next week for the first time.2025 GOALS

Clothes sizing is an absolute minefield. It's influenced by so many things. There's vanity sizing by some brands and then some of the cheaper brands literally cut corners and can come up small because they've skimped on the fabric or they vary massively because the quality control isn't up to much.
My target when I was losing weight was to get into a size 12 in a decent brand but it can vary depending on the style. Like most people my wardrobe has a range of sizes. I'd rather buy a bigger size that fits. Too tight clothes look far worse IMO.
Sadly I know I am influenced by the size label but the plus side of that was that when 16s were starting to feel tight it motivated me to do something about it.😁8 -

Well ladies I have a confession......
I popped myself on the scales. I wish I hadn't. 😂. But I knew anyway because I'm struggling to fit into some of my nice new clothes I bought after losing all that weight. I refuse to buy "fat clothes" again. So now I'm on a mission. Lose it all and more by Christmas. The good news is chiro is definitely starting to work. I am feeling so much better already. Thank you for sharing your chiro experiences, it has really spurred me on and given me confidence. It's a lot of money If it doesn't work but I'm very hopeful. So a big thank you.Gardening today, the rain has softened the soil so a good opportunity to work it again. That clay breaker stuff has really helped. I'm going to give it a second treatment and then hopefully I can planting in early autumn.I want to be a fab me, with a fab house and a fab garden. The whole package.Sensational at 70. This will be me. 💃🥂.9 -
Hello Ladies,
I received the great news from my chest x-ray that both of my lungs are free of any scarring or other damage, so I will not need any follow up chest x-rays because of Covid-19. I feel so relieved. I still have to contend with fatigue and memory issues, but they are a small price to pay for surviving Covid-19
I have been pampering myself even more than usual, as there is going to be a family party for one of my great niece's when she turns 10 next Saturday. I would have been happier if I had not gained most of the weight that I lost before I went on my holiday to Jamaica, but I will eventually lose the weight. I did not want to try to push myself to lose a substantial amount of weight in only 4 weeks, when I got the party invite, so I have concentrated on making sure that my face, skin, feet and hands are getting plenty of self care, so that hopefully by the day of the party they will be looking their best.
My grandson and his lovely girlfriend are coming to visit us on Tuesday.I have been busy getting his presents wrapped and buying a birthday cake and other food and drink for the celebration we will have for his 21st birthday. I have cooked super hot & spicy chicken wings, as they are my grandson's favourite cooked by his Granny D. I cooked them yesterday, cooled them down and put them in a Pyrex dish with a lid on in the fridge until Tuesday. I have bought my grandson 21 inexpensive presents, in fact more than half of the items were from Poundland. As I was so ill with Covid-19 when it was his girlfriend's birthday, I also have a belated birthday gift for her as well. I will definitely be taking plenty of photos of this small family celebration.
I am still only prepared to shop in my local Lidl, Morrisons, Savers and Poundland stores. They all continue to have really good social distancing measures in place, which enable me to feel really relaxed as I shop. When I went to Lidl in Peckham yesterday, I was really pleased to see all of the customers in the store wearing their masks.

I've been gardening as well. Totally exhausted as had a busy morning, breakfast, tidy up, walk round the car boot on a local field, bagged up (and cut up some huge brambles) all the weeds GS has cut down/dug up. The brambles were like something from a horror film, they have gone a bit out of control on a hidden bit of garden behind the shed. Then I cut the lawns front and back, swept the drive and patio and collapsed in a heap, well not quite but I am having a sit down before sorting out lunch. I will need to book a trip to the tip to get ride of 4 large black bags of gardening stuff.
I bless my compression gloves, a few weeks ago the pains in my hands and wrists would have meant most of the above was beyond me, I know my left shoulder and right elbow are going to ache a bit but I can cope with that. I feel quite happy with what I have achieved.
LL I don't think you are alone with putting on a bit of weight in lockdown, I have seen a couple of people that have put on alot. I think I might have put on a bit as my trousers feel a bit tighter but now I have pain under control I will be more active so I think it will right itself. If you do well with your chiropractor you might find it works like that for you, fingers crossed.
We are all going to get lectured about our weight, I wonder if it will work? I had to have a little chuckle watching Boris telling us he has managed to lose just over a stone, I imagine nearly dying might have done that for him but it isn't a diet many of us would want to go on. Wouldn't be any use giving me a cycling prescription, I would be terrified to go out cycling as I'm not very stable on a bike, I hope they offer alternatives.
One thing I've noticed is that I don't seem to eat as much if I am active, sitting on the sofa feeling sorry for myself and my sore hands seemed to give me an appetite. Seems the wrong way round. Well I'm off to see what DH wants for lunch, hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

It is tough now isn't it to lose the kilos and pounds we carry.
There is nothing to really motivate us to change out of the comfy clothes and dress up. some of the people who had staycations said it was not the same- all the faff is not the same.
While there is no slimming world in real life (virtually- I don't know if it would work for me.) There is no easy answers- however we are all on the same journey trying to keep healthier and more fab.
LL I love the idea of sensational at seventy- sensational everyday!
sugar delighted to hear that your lungs are not showing damage and that you are constantly improving. Your grandson will enjoy the spread of food and gifts.
