sheilavw said:I know what you mean Wednesday. Me and my Husband were always happy with our own company, not ones for going out that much. I have a lot of acqaintances, but not a best friend, he was my best friend.savingfortomorrow said:Wednesday- I realized that I spent too long chasing the money and financial security. I didn't take time off to really build as many friendships. I have loads of people that I'm friendly with but a handful of amazing people. It is going to be harder to expand social networks in lockdown but we can. I am going forward realizing that financial security has given me another set of worries. I want to volunteer and take up more social hobbies.
Savingfortomorrow - that is precisely what I was thinking when I woke up this morning. I have been so focused on my husband retiring after he got ill that I have neglected my friendships. I was thinking of joining Facebook over lockdown and I was thinking I would only have a couple real life people on there as friends. I met three of my friends last year (after not seeing them since 2013 when my husband got diagnosed with cancer) and two were moving out the country and one has moved house even further from where I live.
It's ironic that if I moved to the US I would feel like i had more friends over there as I have known a few people for years online and I think we would really get on. I think if I met a few people on here like Candygirl we might be friends but she lives far away.
i really need to change my life after this weird period in time is over. I am thinking about volunteering too, actually.

Well here's something to give everyone a laugh, I've broken a toe. How stupid is that. I hate slippers so always barefoot in the house and just stubbed my toe on a kitchen stool, done it loads of times before but this time I have managed to mangle my middle toe, it is very bent and very painful. I have had to raid my emergency "if I have to go to hospital" supplies and find a pair of slippers as I am so scared of hurting it. One thing I can say is pain puts other worries into perspective, the state of Sainsbury's isn't top of my list just at the moment. Just to add to the chaos I am looking after the two little GC today, I just hope they keep their social distance and don't get near to my toe.6

Oh dear pixie......bet that hurts. So many tiny bones in our toes, so easy to break them. I did the same a few years ago. Makes your eyes water doesnt it. 😂😉.
Well good Morning lovey ladies
a very successful Morning here. Decided to nip to Aldi's for a bit of f&v. It was lovely and quiet so I took the opportunity to do another lockdown/bad weather stock up on essentials. Flowers and wine are essentials of course. 😂.Decided to see if my favourite chazzer was open, it was. Had a browse bought a nice straw picnic basket for £4, a decent size. Apparently they accept donations in Wednesday and Saturdays so I can drop a couple of bags off tomorrow after chiro. So nice to browse a Chazzer again. Saw a stunning dress jacket combo, very smart and dressy and only £8 but walked away. I'm regretting it now.....😂🤣. If it's still there tomorrow I might be tempted.Ladies..... very interesting comments about friendships. I think good friends are so important and it's so easy to let them slip. Over the years I let a lot of people drift away.....not any more. Now, I make sure I nurture my relationships. Having said that I think a handful of good close real friends is probably better than hundreds of casual friendships. Not that there's anything wrong with casual friends and acquaintances but I do now operate a "red velvet rope policy". Only a very select few are allowed inside .......the rest I keep at arms length. Sadly, since Sistergate that now includes my only sister. We are pleasant and friendly to one another again but I will never be close to her again. She hurt me too much. She appears contrite but I know her, she cannot believe that she did anything wrong. She thinks it's just about the money, It isn't - it goes beyond that. She will never Understand what she did unless she herself becomes widowed. Only then will she get it. Hope it never happens to her.Oddly enough, since my husbands death I have now grown closer to my SIL. We were always friendly but, now since both our sets of parents have died and Of course my husband, her brother, it's basically just us two left and our respective children, so we have formed quite a bond. Same with one of my cousins. As children we practically ignored each other, then when we hit our 20s we decided we liked each other after all and now we are quite close. Life is strange isn't it.I must admit I do believe that friends come in two guises.........Lifelong friends and those who are friends for a season.Right coffee break over, time to get cracking. Are we ready for the heatwave on Friday . 😎.6 -
Your friend has done exactly the right thing LL. Very sensible lady. 👏 Glad she's not got to wait as many did at the height of the pandemic. ☹️
I think it's today you've got your grandson coming round sugarbaby. Enjoy your family time. 🙂
I've done food shopping every week, mostly in Aldi. It was quieter before they had the traffic light system at the door but it's still quick and OK. The new system means too many are ignoring the 1 person/1 trolley. I know some will genuinely need help but others are just selfish. ☹️ Our Sainsburys is quiet too as it's next door to student halls and always fairly empty at this time of the year.7 -

When I move house next year (or the year after due to the pandemic) I am going to have to start from scratch and hopefully build up a few new friendships.2025 GOALS

I just went out to buy a crossword puzzle book to start my hobby box.
I was hoping to start my vision board today but the magazines in the newsagent near me were rubbish.
I got my Joe Browns dress delivered today and I'm not sure I like it! It's not really me, the colour is my colour navy, but the style is not really the type of thing I wear. Hmm, it looked different in the picture. Annoying but at least it was on sale as I recall. I will still keep it to wear around my local area. Maman had an expression for that. 1 mile clothes, was it?2025 GOALS

That's right Wednesday. It came from a fashion feature. I think it's even more appropriate for now. The idea is that you dress comfortably and casually with clothes just to stay at home but wouldn't be ashamed to be seen in them going to the local shops or post a letter. 😉 I think for too long have worn old, scruffy clothes at home. Fine for DIY or gardening but as we wear 'house' clothes so much (especially now) it's worth buying something that makes you feel good. I just wear leggings and a nice top. Not hugely expensive, although they are good quality tops.
I wouldn't keep the dress if it doesn't make you feel good

I didn't do my vision board but I started my hobby box and also ordered my SAD light box, adult colouring books, pens and a jigsaw puzzle. All arriving tomorrow from A*azon.
It worried me a bit about what Boris said about a second wave! I want to make sure I'm prepared this time in case we have another lockdown situation.2025 GOALS
