Candygirl that sounds awful, water can do so much damage and such alot of clearing up.
I have one lifelong friend, well we met at 11 on first day at grammar school, our lives are very different, me with 4 kids and 6 GC she never married or had children. We live hundreds of miles apart and can go months without seeing each other but when we meet up it is like we've never been apart. Apart from her my real friends are family, my sister, daughter and niece are my main female friends, DsIL as well but not as close and of course my sons, GSs and last but not least DH. I suppose I should make more of an effort but I don't seem to have time. I do occasionally see a couple of old friends from work back in my home city, if we move where I want to it will be easier to keep in touch.
Toe isn't quite as agonising as this morning, I don't think it is ever going to be straight again but I guess I can live with that.
There was something on one of the breakfast shows this morning about how much stuff has been donated to the charity shops, people having clear outs during lockdown. Some of you will be having a field day by the sounds of it, I'm hopeless in charity shops, I just go "blind" but the local shops are a bit chaotic and I imagine some city shops are a bit more organised, think jumble sale round here.6 -
Ouch to your toe pixie. Shouldn't you be getting that strapped up or splinted or something?
Funnily enough I've had a problem with my toes last week. I think it's called metatarsalgia. I had it once before which was when the podiatrist recommended the orthosoles. I'm sure it's from slopping around in slippers for 4 months. I've made a point of putting shoes on more and all seems well now.If I ever get back to dancing again, I wouldn't want a problem with my feet.
My oldest girlfriend lives about 50 miles away. We've kept in touch almost daily through lockdown but haven't met up yet. Normally we go to the theatre regularly and have lunch together. I've got other circles of friends too. We've sent each other the odd message to touch base but I know that when we do meet up we'll just fall back into conversation easily. It's like that with old friends. Neither of my brothers lives locally or any of DH's family. I've spoken to my brothers more since lockdown than usual although not heard much from the younger one since golf resumed!I do value my virtual friends though. It's like the techie version of pen friends!

Maman I was told the best thing to do was just to leave it, mind you I find the trouble with a doctor in the family is a bit like the cobblers children going unshod! Actually a friend of mine used to work in a nursery, she said you could almost guarantee that the children who came in who were too ill to be there were doctor's children. Maybe I should investigate. It is so annoying, my hands have improved so much so now I have a dodgy foot. Typical.
Candygirl I hope you get the loo fixed. Some modern conveniences are non negotiable.
Off to consult doctor google.6 -
Well Dr Google seems to think if it isn't the big toe, isn't pointing outwards and no cut the best thing is to leave it. Says it will take 4 to 6 weeks to heal, so the school holidays with GC for a few days a week is going to be fun. I should be OK by the time they are going back to school/nursery. Happy days. It isn't unbearable, I think I have a high pain threshold and redheads are supposed to process pain differently so hopefully that is helping.5

purplepixie- it might be a good idea to get it checked out sooner before bones heal. I injured my leg got it checked out too late and honestly years later I get infrequent pain and soreness. I wonder if I had dealt with it easier would things be different. Look after yourself.5

Evening all. Several interesting comments about friendships. It is surprising really. I have a friend from school who knew my Husband longer than me really, he worked where she did before we met. She was away for his funeral, but I rarely hear from her. yet less 'close' friends message me constantly. I am a firm believer that communication is a two way thing, I always make the effort, I dont expect people to constantly ask how I am, they have their own lives. I have had a friend down this evening, we worked together many years ago, she only lives a mile or so away, I constantly pass her house when walking my Daughters dogs. Without fail, she will ring or text once a month , so kind.Pixie, my sister has stubbed her toe too, the top of her foot is black and blue, so bad that she could only wear her crocs7

candy I think having a working loo is a necessity. Hope you get it fixed soon.Purple ouch. I hope your toe heals well.
Joining you both with a broken fridge freezer. I’m annoyed, as it’s only 3-4 years old and this will be the second time it has broken (same problem). It will cost £100+ to get it fixed, so we have decided to cut our loses and replace it. When it broke the last time, the repair man told me what he did as a temporary fix while he ordered the replacement part, so I have done the same, which means we can use it for now.
Today was DDs First Holy Communion. Due to coronavirus it was very different to DS one a few years ago. The programme was messed up because of lockdown and we only had three weeks notice of the new date. Luckily, I bought DDs dress before coronavirus was even a ‘thing’ so we were ready to go.7 -

My jobs for the next two days is to finish off the outstanding DIY tasks. Luckily I don’t have much to do, just a bit of painting. Fridays job will be to tackle the shed.6 -
