South_coast said:In my defence (if there is one?), I'm trying out boxed wine à la Mrs Frugalwoods - although that does mean I've laid out £12.50 in one go! Now £62.63 to last 4 shops (spent £3 on some frozen fruit as well 😀)
I bought a box of wine just after lockdown, had to wean myself off it!

Do you have a balcony or sunny windowsill? A chilli plant will grow happily on a windowsill and I second the herbs. My mum grows ‘micro greens’ on her windowsill - basically mini salad. If you have a balcony you could grow lots! Or would BF allow you a patch in his garden? Or even some pots?
I’d definitely die of starvation if I had to rely on what I’ve grown, but it’s great to pick something for dinner (sugar snaps and spring onions tonight). If you could use BF’s garden planting fruit is a winner - generally perennial and low maintenance - and even he’d like being able to pick berries in the garden, wouldn’t he?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Hi GHF, the boxed wine is just boxed wine 😀! It gets frequent mentions on the Frugalwoods blog as it's cheaper than buying individual bottles. My problem is making sure it lasts as long as 3 bottles-worth should, as I can't see how much I've had 🤣!
No balcony Vix, but the lounge windowsill could be a possibility. BF has a section of garden which would be perfect for fruit (and would provide some screening from the people that stand in the road and stare over the garden wall), but he'd find some way of destroying it - my Mum gave him a chilli plant a few years ago and he killed it after insisting it would be better off outside, I think he got one tiny chilli off it in the end 🙄! He does have some mature apple trees though (already there and fully-grown when he moved in!), which I'm determined to make use of this year. Last year most of them ended up as windfalls and got driven over....😮Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Very disappointed to learn it isn't Friday yet - I'm definitely ready for the weekend now 😢 On the plus side, the 45-minutes-according-to-the-recipe dinner which took me over an hour last night (I'm such a slow cook!) will at least only need microwaving tonight - and only a plate to wash up!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Prolific approved, so that's now safely despatched to the credit card, along with bank cashback (£1.05 net 🤣). Have paid off £21.87 in the last couple of days, all of it free money. Feeling very motivatedMortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Thank you 😀 Have paid another £2.88 this morning, I've discovered Qmee surveys. They're very tedious but I'm loving being able to cash out any value - did 3p the other day 🤣!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Go you! 3p! 👍
I might give them a go as getting to cash out on some sites is taking foooorrrr evvvveeerrr...If it's not adding up, compound it!5 -
Does QMee have short surveys then? I find them tedious if too long, but no minimum for cash out sounds appealing!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
