It’s very counter intuitive, isn’t it? I put £100 into my S&S ISA today, but logging in to see it was down 25% (£3000) was excruciating and extremely depressing!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

They say don't invest what you can't afford to lose / wait 5-10 years for. I also have been wondering about whether to invest now - it looks like bargain city out there. I completely understand the lure of the sure thing eg pay off debt / mortgage rather than putting your money at risk. Some people describe it as like trying to catch a falling knife. I haven't got the guts yet.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I'm in the middle of moving to a SIPP, so my daily transfers from the cash transfer into funds is scary! 🙈

Thanks all, I like the falling knife analogy - I'll be the one trying to sidestep the catch altogether and ending up stabbed in the foot 😂!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Been spamming everyone else's diaries and not sure I've got any news for my own now 😂
Er....
Sent a £200 OP yesterday, which is the last of the payday ones. They seem to have lasted well and kept me interested this month, will have to see if I can scrape something together next week and then will have sent something every Friday this month. Two-day week coming up. Not going away now thanks to Flybe, but decided I'd still keep the days off as I need the break. BF has cancelled his leave as he's likely to need the days to use for other trips later in the year (lads' holidays, bless him 😂), so I'll have a few days of R&R and then we're doing a one-nighter in a city a couple of hours away so we still feel like we've been "away". And the real positive for me is that I don't have to do any work this weekend as I got it all* done yesterday, so despite the upcoming two-day week I'm not actually panicking 😀
In more positive news, has anyone else noticed the roads are getting quieter? Think less people are driving due to self-isolation. That, coupled with falling petrol prices, means I'm starting to enjoy driving again. Actually, now I think about it, the weather is meant to be good this week so could go out for a drive round the coast while I'm off and enjoy some deserted beaches 😀
Feeling pretty chipper now 😀
*Not really "all", as it will never be "all" done - but at least everything which needs to be done for Monday!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

P.S. Thoughts of spring always make me think of this ad, especially the music!

I took a sneaky peek at my S&S ISA this week and shut my eyes quickly. I am not even looking at the investment I made to a SIPP three weeks ago !!We have noticed how quiet everything is around here. I met a friend in the city yesterday and when we left the bar/ restaurant we were in around 7 pm it was nearly empty.....on a Friday. Businesses are really going to struggle through this, unless they are selling hand sanitizer, freezers and push bikes, where sales are apparently very high.Your staycation sounds nice, we will probably be doing similar in a couple of weeks time as our holiday has been cancelled too.4

Thanks BM, I wonder why people are buying bikes?Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Morning sc, shame about the break being cancelled but it’s probably for the best. Perhaps the bike buying is people trying to avoid the bus and tube, think I’d rather risk it than cycle to work, the excericse would kill me 😆
Love the advert, everything is so miserable at the moment, even a bit of sunshine would help!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4
