Thanks @alt80 - you right. Maybe my biggest regret is I didn't take more risks
Steps are all in the mind and I've made a plan for August, alternating run day with walk day x3 and one lazy day as needed
Weight - bit above maintenance atm, but staying steady, I'm just going to tighten up a bit as ideally I want to be 10kg lighter (under 200lbs) which would be nice. Let's see what a bit of focus and discipline does for a month or 2
In other news my bro had a bit of a windfall from his OH side of the family, and although I had told him we were all square, in reality I did feel a bit down on the deal in terms of some help given a few years back. so he made a large gesture (about £1k) which I didn't try very hard to turn down, so that's gone straight of CC3 (only CC with a balance) and countered some of the recent post lockdown spendinessI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Another 6km run on the treadmill last night - might have overdone it except it was a very slow run. Feeling a bit sore this morning, but nothing too bad, and nice to get over 10000 steps 2 days running.
Will try and get out for a walk this lunchtime and then at the office tomorrow so I might try and find a lunchtime walking pal and get a few in.
Will do my money spreadsheets this evening so expect so financial updates, and will be looking to explore how it all got a bit more spendy than plannedI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

3/3 on the steps front - went out the minute work finished and walked 10K+ steps while listening to podcasts. The pottered round the garden clearing enough stuff to fill the garden-waste bin and added another 2k. So my 28 day average now over 5k and my August average about 11000. I always walk a bit more at the office than at home, so together with a lunchtime walk I may make that 4/4.I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

done my numbers - overspent on all my discretionary pots and OP'd CC3 by more than I should have (miscalculation).
Still July was fun!! Just like the bad old days, hangovers, over eating, not checking budgets, grocery overspends.
Not very MSE. Will have to nip it in the bud for August. Then we will seeI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

All change for today, my work meeting got moved to in person and in London. So an early start and a long walk along the Thames set me up nicely for the day. I took the long way round and am smugly at 12500 steps already for the day 4/4. I need to get home sharpish so will be on the Tube, but probably another 2-3000 to add by the end of the day
Lovely day too cool and sunny, but my legs don't know what hit themI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

car at the garage today so did a long walk while dropping it off, then a shorter walk in the evening. just long enough to get over 10000 so that's 5/5. just managed to fit it in between downpours
DS and GF are having a few days by the seaside so will be quiet in the house which will be niceI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Friday - long walk round to pick up the car and a trip to the gym in the evening where I did some faster (ha) shorter running on the treadmill then a long uphill (5% incline)
Saturday - walked to Lidl did the weekly shop and got a lift back with OH, and just back from a walk while she caught up on Corrie.
So that's 7/7 days over 10,000 steps - I can't say I've got into a routine, and I can't say it was hugely mindful or restful, and I haven't lost any weight off the back of it - but tomorrow we have plans for a walk and Monday I'm back in the gym so I'll keep it going for a bit longer. Mainly out of stubbornness and because when I'm walking I'm not spending

It is conditioning your body @mark55man - it might not show on the scales just yet, but it will be toning and strengthening your muscles and that includes your heart and lungs. You will also ache less from the running if you can stretch it out with a decent walk, so will be able to do it more often and are less likely to injure yourself.

Thank you @f0xh0les - I am enjoying the walking/running, its just not obvious how I will be able to fit it in - I walk about 100 steps a minute so 10000 is 100 minutes, and I don't seem to do much naturally (sedentary keyboard warrior type job apart from the odd webinar that I just have to listen to). I need to find a natural slot but in the morning that would mean quite an early get up to be at work by 8:30 and/or not helping with supper/chores at the end of the day. And I don't particularly enjoy going to the gym later.
I'll find a way, mainly it will mean trying to find a gap both before and after work say 7-30 to 8-30 and then between 5pm and 6pm. Am enjoying listening to my music on the go - I used to do that for my commute which is mainly a thing of the past at the moment
