DS1 would love a hound, but we will prob go with OH preference for another couple of kitties in a bit. just on a break at the moment.
I'll just have to toughen up and get organised, or run quicker so it doesn't take as long. Just spent today on OHs friend's friend's narrowboat - which was lovely with enough walking to get up to 7000 steps, so just popping out for 30 minutes, then will do the Gym on Monday morning, and will try and just get up a bit earlier this week - next week is mainly off work so that will be easier. Would be sweet to do 10K every day in August. I would settle for that as an average though.

got up early to goto the gym, but a quick 5 minute job at work turned into a major revision so I didn't get out until 6:30 but managed enough to get to 10000 in one long walk. that was a long trek, and I didn't really enjoy it at the end, even though it was nice to be out in the sun.
expenses got paid today, so although my current account is a little lower than it should be, its still well clear of the overdraft especially as my OH salary is still to come in mid-monthI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Just catching up. Doing well with the steps. Do you do much weight training as well as cardio at the gym? Building muscle will bring up your resting metabolic rate slightly = 'free' calories - get the impression you like your food. I think it'd be worth you getting a PT - decent one will take your fitness to the next level and help you to build understanding of how diet and exercise interact with resultant weight. Not just about getting hench.
I wouldn't regret taking more risks if you're generally happy; take it from someone who's taken plenty of risks and always has been unhappy that's what's important. Sounds to me like you've got a lovely wife and family, almost grown up kids who want to know you and spend time with you, friends, good job, tiny mortgage and plans to wind down iirc. Lot to live for mate.

Thanks @alt80 - my son is keen for me to get into weights for the same reason. I have done them before and do plan to, but for now I'm going slowly slowly. I also use the rowing machine as my weights substitute for now, as I am actually OK at that, and although a long way off my peak I still have pretty good technique.
Thanks too for your second para above - very kind - I almost had a moment

Rowing is a great full body workout. Building speed with good technique mastered is the best way. Weight training likewise - technique is everything.Fml mate I don’t say anything that profound lol.5

10/10 now - 12000+ did a 6K treadmill after work with a long warm up and cool down. same pace as before but felt much easier and HR lower throughout although not right at the end

Thanks SH - again you're very kind.
I'll try not to bang on too much about it, just the diary does make you feel a little more accountable and that sometimes helps when you are doing something difficult or being dumb/lazyI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

12/12 - short walks throughout the day and a longer one (4 miles) straight after work. going to spend the rest of the day (after supper) doing some admin.
NSD - Not counting formally but I may start. Interesting chat on habit tracking on some of the other diaries - I thin I would be scared to do that!
Its been nice weatherwise, cloudy but sunny with a cooling breeze. Yesterday in the gym was a bit hot, but I prefer running on the treadmill (easier to stop if you overdo it and you're not 4 miles from home)I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
