I feel a bit down with the covid news too Vulpix. I had a long walk today with a friend I haven't seen all year, so that helped cheer me up a bit.
The Christmas t shirt doesn't fit over young sirs head- the Jersey isn't stretchy enough, so I need to unpick and put ribbing on. I thought I'd have to when I did it, so must trust my instincts next time! I won't bother with jersey for the adult ones either now, but may need more ribbing- not sure I'll have enough for adult ones too.
I put together the practice shirt, son loves it. Wouldn't take it off, even though it is just made out of muslin and wasn't hemmed, and also short sleeved! Wrestled it off him at bedtime, ready for hemming and then he can wear it as much as he likes.
Started the play apron- assembled nicely, just wrestling the binding on the arm holes. Not my favourite thing in the world, but the colours look good and it's getting there. Might even be done for christmas!

  • Finished the Advent Calendar, spent Sunday night filling it with sweets. Also finally finished 3 cushion covers for a friend at work - they look good, if I do say so myself!
    18/25
2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used
    Crafting 2024 - 1/9 items finished
  • Everyone has been so creative! I love the ideas of fabric cracker hats!
Not much to report here. My mum has knitted a few more things, but I haven't felt up to much. I made a Halloween calendar but ending up buying a wooden base-just used paint from the stash. So not much there-will have to tally up again now its December! Can't believe the year is almost over!

Cupcake, the cracker hats are brill, thought they'd be something a bit special for this years Christmas. I was feeling very sad about it all so planned a month long extravaganza of crafting, baking and old fashioned fun, and that was part of my celebratory plans
I have another make done 84/52- I'm so incredibly proud of this one. A play apron as a present for my friends kid! The back really shows it off- I hacked the pattern to include ties instead of buttons, and I've never used binding before, so beyond chuffed!

    Very nice work indeed emsi.
I altered and shortened a new blouse by hand, using up thread!
Finally got the sewing machine out.
I made a Christmas table cloth from a duvet cover.Pattern in the centre with a red border.Looks nice. I need to mend a tiered dress that has been waiting for the machine for over 2 years. Machine will then go away again probably for years. If I had the space to keep it out I would use it much more.
I started to make a Rudolph pom pom wreath.I have bound flax rope all around the cardboard wreath I made but I think it's too big.I will see if I can get the rope off and get some more boxes today to make a smaller wreath.I did buy some brown pipe cleaners to make antlers but wool for pompoms, googly eyes and red pom pom noses I already have.
I do think my stash is reducing.I will carry on next year, the aim is to be able to keep it all in just 2 storage boxes.Hahahahahaha.
    Total 42

Good luck with your plans for the two boxes Vulpix! My husband and I have decided to get rid of the bed in the spare room, get a futon type thing and then he will move his modelling desk in with me. This will require me to get myself in gear and both tidy the room up, and clear some of the UFOs and things I will never use!! So, in the spirit of getting stuff sorted, I went through my pattern box, found an old knitting basket and promptly found 4 more UFOs 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ last night I hand appliquéd a Christmas tree onto a piece of stocking that now needs to be made made into a stocking (good timing, my son can have it!). I've hemmed the practice shirt 85/52, taken the neckband off the little Christmas t shirt and cut another ready to put back on today. I also have a few more little bits of hand sewing for in the evening, and pile of t shirts to make up (including Christmas ones for me and husband to match son). Hopefully will be a few more projects completed today! I've been off work sick for a few weeks now with stress (a terrible year compounded by a long standing vacancy), and the sewing has helped me feel better. Don't know when I will be back, so making the most of it whilst I can and feel able to.

    Try again.
Not my pic but this is the wreath I am making. No idea why,all my children are grown up!
Emsi I am sorry you have been feeling rubbish.Crafting is a great mind soother. It has helped me all my life.I was watching Kirsty Allsopp's Christmas crafts programme last night and she said something similar.Keeping brain and hands busy is a fantastic distraction.I have made things from being about 10.
Dress fixed, machine packed up.Onto the wreath now.
I went to the patchwork material shop yesterday but they are only open 3 days a week. I need to buy a fabric I like to make the star.I have had an idea to make a little Christmas tree too...damn you pinterest!
