Sign me up, please apple. Awesome challenge. I will not be slaying any dragons, have seen a wonderful one this weekend and definitely a friend of dragons. Would like to be a mermaid but doesn't suit my current shape. I have seen a herd of buffalo this morning but they were not in the near field so were just vague brown lumps. Perhaps I coud have superpower of an affinity to animals, particularly dogs with some buffalo or wolf spirit.

Will read through and get myself into some sort of order later.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

• Hello, I’d like to join for January.
I’m reactivating my account, addressing my debt and my job is at risk, I’m urgently trying to hoard cash in case of unemployment. January should be a quiet month and I shouldn’t need to “buy” much aside from some bread, fruit etc.

NST January 2020: A Turtle Quest

We welcome the challenge: In November I challenged myself to go veggie for 30 days (ended on xmas day thankfully). I like trying new things, so I have decided in 2020 I will do a challenge a month. So far I have ideas like 'plastic free', 'learn to juggle' 'knit a baby hat a day for the hospital'.

Question everything:
Your habits :- Now that I play/practice with a band, my sax practice must be turned up a notch and become more structured. I need 1) A proper warm up routine. 2) Learn my scales & chords. & 3) Transpose on the fly (The guitarists play in C, I'm Eb. I'm used to playing one key per song, they change chords throughout the song, so I need to keep up.) Routines:- Need to get back to my fitness routines and run plans. Plans :- I need to boost my savings/emergency fund account. My plan this year is to out away every spare penny I can and spend as little as possible on non-essentials. Last year I spent £4583.20 on non-essentials. My laptop died in 2019 so that was a big expense, hoping for no big surprises this year. I'm hoping to at least halve that.
Ugly, unloved or unused - This is perfect for January. My monthly challenge will be the Minimilist 30 day challenge (31 in Jan). You get rid of 1 thing on day 1, 2 things on day 2 etc etc. If I manage the whole month it will be 496 things out of the house.

Exercise your mind and body. Got to get back into my health routine. There is a gym opening literally across the road from me, on track to open Jan/Feb. And I want to get back into my running routine.
Savings. I want an Emergency Fund of £5000. I'm 1/5 of the way there. Aiming for 50% by the end of the year.
Thankfulness.

The non-negotiables:
• 16 NSDS minimum. 0/31 NSD. Going right in with a huge first month, going to try and not spend at all (bar groceries & my dentist appointment). My birthday is the 4th, and I have a little xmas & birthday money, so I may get a thing or two on my wishlist but I think that's allowed.
• Budget. Budget done. I have already planned a few presents for the upcoming early birthday months. So will get them out my birthday budget once my wages hit.
• Post at least three gratitudes daily please. We like to hear what you are thankful for.
• Give. Money, time, food. There are others out there who need you! And look after yourself too.

What's your January quest? How much do you plan to pay off debt/mortgage or to savings? When is your debt-free-date? How do you plan to reduce your outgoings? How will you look after yourself?

As I've said, I quite like the idea of being Diana, Wonder Woman, especially where she runs and leaps off a shield. So my quest is to end the month more like her than I am currently.

To get there, I need a) to be able to run; b) to be able to run fast; c) to be able to run fast and leap up; d) a shield; e) some strong friends to hold the shield while I bounce off it :D.

To get started I'll do some running (more like waddling puffing steam train..) and dd fancies paropur, so maybe a bit of running with getting over an obstacle...

For 2 weeks. As then, I'm having a minor op (hernia squishing n and keeping in) under general anaesthetic, so the last 2 weeks will focus on simply being mobile. But I can still wear my cape :rotfl:.

Please can I join in for Jan? I start off well on these challenges and then lose track a bit.

I am working away for most of January :( as I start a new contract at work. It will be awful but the alternative was no job and it is just for 1 month so I am looking at it as a challenge for us to spend as little as humanely possible and for me to use the hotel pool/gym to get my fitness kick started.
Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

Turtles come ready packed in their own shield, and the shield maidens are already here cheering you on. So just the running and bouncing then?:rotfl:
