Hi everyone,
The card is lovely nmm, such a nice design. Well done for finishing the sampler Charly27, and bang on time too
It's been a stressful few days. My DDad who lives in Cyprus was taken into hospital on Thursday with a temperature of 38 and difficulty breathing. He is 80 and has had pneumonia in the past, so my Stepmum was obviously worried (and also about C19). He has been tested twice for C19 and both tests are negative but pneumonia has been diagnosed. He is on oxygen and intravenous anti-biotics and I have managed to speak with him. He sounded okay but a bit bored and the food isn't great. I haven't seen him for over a year and no news of when I might get to see him, so obviously quite upsetting.
DH was travelling on the motorway yesterday in torrential rain when the car in front aqua planed and spun across three lanes of the motorway and was hit in the side by another vehicle and shunted into the central reservation. The occupants (driver and two rear seat passengers) were hysterical as the front passenger was badly injured. DH parked up on the hard shoulder and ran to help. The passenger was in a really bad way, and he found a pulse and did the best he could for her. Unfortunately she died of her injuries - she was just 23. DH obviously very traumatised and in complete shock as there was lots of blood and it's not the sort of thing you ever expect to see. I just feel so proud that he tried to help - lots of folk just sat in their cars probably fed up at the inconvenience. Just so awful for the girls family and friends.
Sorry for hijacking what is such a positive thread. I have so far made 8 angels for my Christmas fundraiser, so lots more to do, but it does help my MH and general mood to think I might be able to raise funds for those struggling, particularly given BJs announcement yesterday.
Please stay safe and well my friends. Life can change so quickly, we need to stay positive and make the most of every day, even if it means staying home.

Coxy so sorry you’ve had such a stressful weekend. Poor DH, well done to him for trying to help. It would be so easy for him to feel guilty when he was very brave and dud everything he could. Hold him close. You’re so right, life can change in a heartbeat.
Love to your Ddad. Life is so hard at the moment. I’m not going to be critical of BJ - I’d hate to make these calls. Thankfully not likely to ever be PM.
I’m so very lucky and count my blessings that life will probably continue unchanged for me and mine. Is it too early to start the xmas card exchange, pretty please coxy, i have a little secret to tell we've bought a motorhome and will be moving into it full time after lockdown. Major selling of stuff including car and possibly house (might rent it out) and all other possessions we no longer require. So come December i may not have a fixed abode
Zero crafting done but i'll have loads of free time soon

Nmm that sounds really exciting. I’m green - with envy. What is the Christmas card exchange? If we’re making cards for each other I already know what yours could be 🤣

Thats exactly what it is charly27, stitch a card but no posting photos, then send it to your recipient usually in the first week of December for the big reveal. Coxy, usually mixes the names up, but i'm intrigued by your comment
I've still got all my old cards, its the one tradition i look forward to each year, as fellow stitchers we appreciate the effort

Hi all,
Sorry for the radio silence, have been hunkering down this past week, just getting on with things. My DDad has now been moved to ICU and is on a ventilator which is very distressing for him. My stepmother is beside herself and is giving us twice daily updates. She's not allowed to visit obviously. My DSis and I had been able to speak with him on the phone when he was in a normal ward, but not now obviously. Hoping a new type of anti-biotic will kick the infection into touch and he will be on the mend soon fingers crossed.
In other news, I've managed to knit 16 angels of various colours - all have white wings and using up my white sparkly yarn. Have now exhausted that supply, so plan white it is. Knitted DD a rainbow striped angel with rainbow wings and sent it off with emergency food aid (snacks, mini bottles of rose, jellies etc.) and she received it today. I think Monday's are her most busy day with lectures starting at 9am and finishing at 7pm - with only two hours break in between. Hoping she will send a photo of the rainbow angel as I forgot to do so before packing it doh.
I'm happy to co-ordinate the Christmas Card Exchange nmm - do you want me to post on Face-ache about it and canvass interest? Clearly I'm an idiot as gifted all my card making stash to my friend during lockdown - double doh. Will need to think of something else to make
Exciting news about your motorhome purchase nmm - do you need to book into campsites to hook up to the electricity or will you use a generator (sorry if that's a dumb question...)
Take care all

Oh Coxy, sorry to hear about your dad, fingers crossed the new anti-biotics work. The rainbow angel sounds lovely. No harm in asking the FB group, charley and i are in have you heard from FOS recently? No dumb questions, to begin with we will probably go on campsites but are looking into generators and battery banks to be more off-grid in the future.Cross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:2

Hi Coxy so sorry to hear about your DDad. Very upsetting. I hope the new antibiotics take effect soon. Do you find the angels keep you sane, focussing your brain on your hands is quite meditative. I have carefully washed and pressed the sampler and will try to frame it myself. We visited The Range last Sunday, before lockdown and bought some mounting card and a frame.
I’ve started stitching the Cotton and Twine October box of the Christmas tree as well as picking up the bookmarks from last year.
is there a FB group then? Point me in right direction x‘One of our greatest freedoms is how we react to things’ said Mole.Cross stitch cafe TaDa Enjoy the Little Things, WIP Love cats, ‘A Year in the Life of’ HSC July-December and The Seasons graphic sampler. Read 13/100 2025 all owned or borrowed.
