Hello
I am properly on my hols now. I feel like I'm relaxing and I'm spending lots of time in front of the telly with a glass of bucks fizz or G&T in my hand. :rotfl::rotfl:
Been out today to fill up the car with petrol, pick up a prescription and collect meat from the butchers.
Spending the afternoon in front of the telly with the kids - watching Home Alone 2 and now Scrooged.
Will be seeing my sister and her dd in a bit as it's my niece's birthday today. She's always in high demand on her birthday though so it'll be a fleeting visit no doubt.
I will be about on here over the next couple of weeks so I'll check in regularly. I need all the help and support I can get at the moment in terms of finances and life in general.
Dawn - I really hope your heating is sorted soon. It must be really unpleasant this time of year. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Well, it isn't too bad because we have a wood stove that keeps downstairs toasty, and takes the chill off the first floor, and an electric shower on the top floor (and I keep an electric radiator on up there to avoid it getting too cold /damp). I miss having a working airing cupboard and hot water coming out of the taps though, and I would LOVE to have a nice bath!0 -
Finished work yesterday - had my quarterly review (nice things were said), then a team meeting, then we all went out to the Toby Carvery just over the road for a meal.
Today is a full day off, so I gave myself a lie in (woke up at 6, made tea and porridge and took it back to bed to eat, then dropped off again). Then off to the gym for 9:30, home, hot shower.
Then I managed to get three loads of washing done and draped around the radiator. Cooked up a big pot of bolognaise sauce, and got rid of some leftovers in the process. Had some for lunch and portioned the rest for the freezer. Did a bit of work in the office.
On to the sofa for a snooze with the cat this afternoon. A very pleasant day, all in all.
Have a good Christmas everyone - see you on the other side.

Thanks Ally - I'm not sure if it's just general exhaustion, or that I'm still recovering from being ill but I feel quite emotional (and not festive at all) and I don't really know why. When I think about it I just feel grateful for everything I do have (as long as I don't think about my finances too much) but little things send me over the edge at the moment (videos on fakebook etc). It's weird. Not giving up

Hope you have a good rest CCL. You can't have properly got over that nasty illness yet, it was only a few days ago.
I now have working heating and hot water :j:T
Had a lovely bath when I got in from babysitting last night
Today looks like being a busy one
I have to:
Do last minute shopping (might send OH) Sent OH. There was a storm of biblical proportions while he was out  despite there being a less than 50% chance of light rain according to the forecast. Cue much grumbling :rotfl:
Take old TV to local charity furniture / electrical shop. Decided to donate it. Couldn't face FB messers so close to Christmas, and I need it out of the way. I bought OH a larger, smart TV for Christmas as he was always moaning about our small one :rotfl:Still not huge mind, I am not a fan of those huge ugly screensThey were pleased to receive it and OH even remembered to do the Gift aid stuff
Be here later for someone to pick something up Done
Bit more tidying Done, but still more to do in the morning
Cooking and food prep:
Make a bolognaise for dinner and to use up various bits and pieces Done
Make sure everything is out of the freezer that needs to be Done
Cook braised red cabbage Done, froze some
Prep rest of veg ready for tomorrow Still got the potatoes and parsnips to do
Make a big trifle In hand, will whip cream etc in the morning
Shifted loads of stuff out of the fridge into the meat safe / conservatory to make room for the trifles  It is cold out there, and it is only till tomorrow lunchtime.
My brother appeared as promised with a huge leg of pork that he had purchased (very cheaply) from work. And then DD turned up with a stuffed turkey breast from her freezer. I was wary of leaving the provision of the main part of Christmas dinner to these two  In fact I almost lost my nerve and asked OH to pick up a turkey while he was at the supermarket! Good job I didn't
OH had to cut the leg of pork into 3. Frozen 2 bits. Weapons grade freezer tetris has been done. Left one really big joint out for Christmas lunch. I reckon we will be up early cooking that lot!
Happy Christmas everyone

ccl - you've been through a wringer this year - it's just everything catching up with you. It happened to me too over the past few months. everything had me in floods of tears.
Rest up as much as you can and you'll soon feel more yourself.

I remember when we got our new telly. The money was a gift from OH's nan and she wanted us to replace our CRT telly. We like telly but neither of us are massive techies so we opted for a small-ish large telly but decided we wanted the best picture that our £400 could buy us. I remember fil's horror that we had "only" got a 42" telly when we could have had a 60" telly for that price. We are still very happy with the 42" one 4 years later!LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
Good morning folks!
It was Christmas eve for certain!
Thanks to purps for starting us off yesterday. Sorry I didn't get to post but I had a good chunk of work to finish in the morning as I had the afternoon off as I had an MRI at 5pm. MRI's are WEIRD! The room was kitted out with purple spotlights like some mad club. I expected there to be a bar in the corner of the room. Then they put a screen thing over my head and they were playing video at me of pandas. I was wondering why it was crap and out of focus but then realised it's cos my glasses were off :rotfl:
Today's things:
:heartpuls B/L/D from stores
:heartpuls Pack for mil's as per my list!
:heartpuls Pick up the turkey on the way
:heartpuls Cook turkey at mil's
:heartpuls Put away washing
:heartpuls Poss some crochet - have took the guilty wip to mil's in the hopes I finish it
Have a lovely day all. I hope your last minute prep all goes well. I will post tomorrow probably but if not, have a lovely Christmas. Slightly belated solstice blessing s for those of you who are more yule based and a slightly belated happy Hanukkah to others
