I have also received my statement after putting on my readings yesterday. Still got £50 credit. I agree peterx they were such a great company0

We are being switched to British Gas Cap Tracker. I've just checked the prices for my region (southern) and compared them to the tariff I was on with Breeze. It's an increase of 46% in the standing charges, 21% in the gas unit price, and 30.2% in the electricity price.
How soon can we switch away?!0 -
Usually around 3-4 weeks. It's best not to try initiating a switch too soon as you can end up in limbo if the systems cant cope. Hopefully BG should tell you when.
When IRESA went belly up, Octopus took over and it was around 3 weeks, then another 3 weeks to change over. I was off like a shot as soon as I could. Even being with them for a short period of time cost me around £30 extra and it wasn't even winter.
I went to Eversmart, who went bust last September but I escaped a week before their demise to SymbioNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Thanks peaberry.
I've gone to the Ofgem website and found these two articles, neither of which explain the exact British Gas tariff that we will be moved to - only that it will be 'a deemed tariff rate' (whatever that means):

Where did you get the information that says we will be on a 'British Gas Cap Tracker'?0 -
It's on British Gas's website - oh apparently I can't post links! Well just go to the British Gas front page and there is a banner on there with a link for Breeze customers.
I will be paying an extra £50 per month at this time of year, and that's if I agree to pay by direct debit to British Gas which I don't really want to do. If I decide to pay by cheque instead, then it's an even higher tariff.0 -
Thank you matelodave. So we could be looking at 6 weeks of these new rates, and in winter
I have switched twice before and both times it took at least 3 weeks, but was hoping that there might be a way of speeding it up if it's due to a company going out of business. Ironically I switched from Yorkshire Energy because they were no longer replying to emails and eventually I couldn't get through on the phone either, so I started worrying that they were going bust. Now of course I wished I had stayed with them!0 -

OK, I see that, thanks.
I've worked out that I'll be paying 26% more for my gas and 36% more for my electricity while I'm on that BG tariff (around £24 more per month, at current usage).
I'll be moving away asap - but to where?0 -
That's just it... so many energy companies have gone bust lately, and we just don't know who will be next. I don't have anyone in mind yet because I wasn't expecting to be thinking about switching for another 6 months.0

But Ofgem forced them out of business by demanding a payment of almost £0.5million to the renewables obligation fund.

Ofgem didn't force them out of business... they owe multiple organisations a lot of money.
The RO bills aren't just surprised bills that Ofgem hand out for fun, every supplier 'should' in theory collect money for them throughout the year, then either buy ROC certificates to meet their claim or budget to pay for the buyout if they don't have any certificates to represent.
Instead you have companies like Breeze Energy who use the money which should be saved up on these bills to subsidies cheap tariffs which are unsustainable.
If a company is cheaper than the rest, then they either have massive investment from people not worried about making a loss... Or they won't pay their bills.0 -

....
So they just ran off with lots of other peoples money, did they?
That's disgusting behaviour. Glad they've gone0
