I don't get where this 28 days business is coming from and the guy in the complaints department could find no record of such a requirement. He literally said to me you could start it today before I revealed I actually had already done that.
I gave my first readings and put the switch in. From my perspective why would you not! The worst BG is going to say is like above "no", and they have to produce a valid reason. If I have to wait then so be it, but I will try again because clearly somewhere along the line the poster above that tried for a second time and succeeded says it all. It is not that our accounts are over 28 days in debt which is the only true reason they can do it.
The benefits if it succeeds this early? I stop having to deal with BG minus the final bill (heck the complaints guy even said to me why bother setting up a DD, what is the point minus the slightly higher tariff) and he said you might not even get the first one out anyway.
In addition the cheaper gas and electricity and hopefully better CS with bills and meter readings updated quickly not days later! I mean how can these small providers nail it and BG cannot!
Thanks. That's my weekend activity sorted.0 -
And BG have just rejected it. What a bloody joke.0

Sweet jesus I have just been lied to in a chat where one representative claimed it had not been rejected. I said about the 28 days and it was that. What a clown.
I now need the sales team open Monday to friday :rotfl:0 -
Just checked my BG account. The electricity meter reading I submitted yesterday is still not showing.
My gas goes over Monday so I'll ring BG with both readings.
Then I will confirm who my new provider will definitely be, and I will then ring them up and clarify if there is any issue with switching to them there and then.
As I have a BG account number and have accessed my account by logging in through their web pages, I don't see how BG will be able to claim the account isn't set up yet, nor block the switch, as our Breeze account was still in credit after the final statement.
Ofgem have contributed to making this whole situation a problem for consumers. I'm not a happy person.0 -

I had the same one but it mentions Energy at the beginning.
I assumed my switch had gone through.
We’ll finish supplying your energy on 4th February 2020, and your new supplier will automatically take over– so you won’t be left without any gas. If things change, we'll let you know.0 -
Call your new provider on monday and bg.
I have spoken to bg they blocked the takeover and then released it your new supplier might not try or know.
I am in the same problem.0 -
I've just started a switch to Avro. Let's see what happens.
Edit. Just received a request to set up my Avro account and have also received my Welcome Pack - all very slick.
I also decided to send Avro an email pointing out all the shenanigans we are experiencing and making Avro aware that BG might block my transfer request. I've given Avro chapter and verse, so hopefully they will be fore-armed.0 -
Oh and just to add british gas wont tell the new provider so leaving even more of a mess for you to sort. Talk about being idiots0
