yes, you had to if you wanted the replacement.
  • I registered my machine for replacement but I haven’t received any other communication other than the email at the point of registration.

Is there a specific link people are using to choose their replacements or is it unique to each customer?

You will receive an email offering you a replacement, taking you to the website with a unique to you link.

However a number of people on the FB group (when I was still a member, left because the entire page as filled with people flapping rather than it being constructive) mentioned that they didn't realise it was an offer of replacement due to the way it was written.

One registered, you should have received a confirmation email. If you didnt get that, I would suggest you ring them up to check.
  • You don't need to wash in cold water. You can use a wash at 20 degrees. I am having to do this.
I need the smallest machine I can get to squeeze it into a space, shallow and below 60cms wide even 59.5 will do.

Can anyone who has been offered a machine about 52.2 cms deep please tell me the model number so I can check it out. Thanks!

    I am awaiting the offer.

I suspect I will take the repair as sourcing one that will fit in the space will be nigh on impossible.

You don't need to wash in cold water. You can use a wash at 20 degrees. I am having to do this.

There are people who have reported that their washing machine has had their door lock melt/smoulder even on a 20c.

The heating element appears to be somehow wired into the door lock, so even at 20c, the heating element will have to activate for a short amount of time, thus the risk is still present.

The very fact Whirlpool say you should unplug the machine suggests to me that you should only use your machine if you absolutely must, with absolute caution and not unattended (as in, sit and watch it!). Its the reason we went out and replaced it with a Bosch before Whirlpool got their act together with a Hotpoint replacement - we were not prepared to accept the level of risk and could not be without a washer for weeks on end.
  • Well, I do not leave the machine in the room unattended and I have tooled up the hose pipe to the outside tap so that it can be deployed via the window within a minute of the plug being pulled out of the socket and I have moved a smoke alarm to be adjacent to the machine. I am currently looking to buy a fire extinguisher and fire blanket tomorrow. So I am content to use it at 20 degrees.

Here is my question again: Please help if you can:

People are getting offered different models, and it appears that you may get a different offer depending upon the time of day.

Mine was replaced with a NSWM743UW
    Height (cm) : 85.0
    Width (cm) : 59.5
    Depth (cm) : 51.6

However there is no g'tee that you will be offered this, or any others that people may post. You are simply best waiting to see what Whirlpool offer, and then discuss with them if it does not suit your requirements.
  • Thank you Splank, that is v helpful.

I am hoping that they will fit the machine up into the space and connect the hoses and remove the old machine as well. Getting the thing into the space is a nightmare and we are too old to do this ourselves. DH is well into his 80s.

Whirlpool in my case contracted out the work to AO (well, Expert Logistics who owned by AO) who did offer the full service - disconnect and removal of old and wet install new. I didnt find that out until the morning of delivery!

Again, your own delivery may differ - there were examples on the FB group where people were reporting the drivers were just dropping off the new unit and collecting old.

Thank you! I received my confirmation email so I guess I will just need to sit tight and wait until they get round to me.
