Decluttered a curry from the freezer for DH for lunch. Made a mushroom & potato soup - leek, mushrooms, potato, turmeric, coriander, cumin & mustard - totally tastless. I'm surprised with everything that's in it - I'm now working at it to try and gain taste. If it doesn't work it'll turn into liquid for making stock. I have so much cross-stitch stuff. I've taken out alll the ones for my next 2 cross-stitches - I'm going to do the 2 in tandem - and I still have over 100 spare DMC threads on bobbins and a lot of Anchor ones which, hopefully, are off to Scotland tomorrow.

  • Back bedroom (AKA R.O.D) tidied and partially decluttered yesterday. Old, dried-up nail varnishes filed in the bin and other bits on dressing table sorted and organised. DH regularly gets body wash/deodorant gift sets for Christmas and birthdays and I counted 7 different deodorant sprays!! At least we won't need to buy any for a whole.

That's 3/52 bags to the chazza this year!

    Hi all!

I love reading about other people's progress. I’m always impressed by the amount of decluttering that’s been done. I'm ashamed to confess that I seemed to spend almost all of yesterday decluttering nothing but my sinuses! I’ve just bought a new Anti-bac spray (Method, so it’s supposed to be less damaging to everything.) Unfortunately, I seem to have reacted badly to it.

Lying there feeling sorry for myself did give me a chance to define what I’m counting as decluttered. Obviously I want to reduce the amount of stuff I’ve got by rationalising what I’ve got and getting the rest of it away either via a CS/Freegle etc if it’s useful and recycling/binning it if it isn’t. BUT…

I’ve got a whole other category of “stuff” that’s clutter at the moment and would be thrown out, but which can actually be repurposed instead. The sort of thing I mean is, eg, I had 4 mugs that were ‘cluttering' the mug cabinet. Now 2 are acting as scoops for litter/bedding for the rabbit and 2 are by my bed – 1 holding medication and the other things like a pen, hairbrush etc.

So, even though I've still got them, I've reduced my clutter by 4 items IYSWIM... Has anyone else categorised stuff like that? Or is it just me? (It's just me, isn't it? :rotfl:)
Ahhh repurpose stuff all the time, but don't class it as decluttering as it never left the house :(
Am trying to clear some space in the little bedroom for somebody to stay next week to look after the dogs whilst I'm away, so have got some more items sorted :T

    *11 a blank medal tangled and knotted-binned
    *12 key chain-recycling
*13 new pieces of jewellery, put away ready for christmas shoeboxes.
*14 more cardboard for recycling-had masses of the stuff
*15 sorted out plastic packaging for recycling point and all the bits i had kept as a 'just in case'
*16 old toilet seat ln packing, left outside ready for tip, toilet seat was taken, packaging left so that is now in recycling

Have to say how impressed I am with everyone de-cluttering - my wife and I did 2 lots over xmas period to the charity shop, it makes you feel so much better when its gone! We also let go (feels like that doesnt it!) of some nice books and took them as a donation to our local National Trust Book shop at Attingham Park nr Shrewsbury. National Trust are always very greatful for books that are donated. We still have loads more to do but its very good when its all gone
