Good morning everyone.
I joined this thread at the beginning of the year but don't think I have posted since. You are all doing so well!
I am almost on track to declutter 2020 items this year - I have managed to get rid of 514 so far, and hope to sort some more things out today. I need to get OH on board with this - we both retired 2 weeks ago so have no excuse time-wise! I'll let you know how we get on....
Enjoy your day!10 -
Hi,I thought I was doing so well. Despairing of kids ( 15+) and tidying up after them so didn't move the weed killer in the hall. Then realised it had been knocked over and all over the shoe rack and floor - in shoes - assume will dry, mopped floor etc but a stitch in time comes to mind! But have parted with a paper weight brought back from my dads about 6 months ago ( helping him declutter about 50% goes in the bin, 25% for charity and 25% to me). It had been given to my mum (died 10 years ago) by my oldest who was very close to her so I gave it attachment. I asked my daughter if she wanted it she said no, and added it has no emotional meaning - so why was I . Decided I will find photos of my mum to put up.775 paper weight776 new pillow but small777 paper declutter778 700 emails deletedHoping to do alot at the weekend as still having to move things to get to other things and the weedkiller incident alarmed me!Take care everyone x11

DH had a bonfire yesterday - the garage was getting to be too full of cardboard boxes plus the gardeners have put up a new post and rail fence for us and had to remove some shrubs where they interfered with postholes. The horses were quite happily wandering through the red embers yesterday - they haven't got shoes on, but it didn't seem to bother them. The horses' owner is keeping them well supplied with hay, so much so that the foal is lying down in it this morning. She's a funny looking horse - half British cob (think shaggy with fluffy feet) and half Apaloosian (think rocking horse).
Kent Frozen Foods are delivering to the public during the shut down instead of just restaurants and cafes etc., we had a delivery on Tuesday so I had to find space for 112 vegan croissants for hubby. I don't know why but I hadn't expected them to be frozen, but luckily they're only small, but they did fill the freezers. Our lady gardener planted a patch of dandelions for me this week - another friend makes a rub from the dried flowers and I find it sorts out my bursitis so that I can sleep on my side at night.
We're lucky that our binmen are still coming and taking away the recycling as we are using more tins and jars. I've also made a sourdough starter - I hadn't realised how easy it was so I'll be making sourdough bread as I'm out of yeast after making fruit teacakes on Tuesday.

facethemusic said:Hello declutterers! I have an ongoing decluttering battle, but have never posted. Counting items I think would depress me entirely! However I have a question I'm hoping one of you will know the answer to! How do I get rid of kitchen knives? I have FAR too many- partly because I dont know what to do with them. Charity shops wont take them (i asked), it seems "dangerous" to put them in the bin, so what do i do? I did wonder about wrapping them in bubble wrap to bin them but still seems like a risky thing to do. Some of them are proper carving knife or bread knife type things which are still pretty sharp! Sorry to jump onto your thread with this, but if noone here knows I think I'm stuck with a drawer full of knives I dont use forever!
Another idea, is the police stations, they sometimes have knife /weapon amnesties, what about emailing them and asking them for advice with getting rid of them. Or what Mrs SD said about taking them to the tip. Hope that helps.
Secondly, I don't count my decluttering, I have only did this for one year, but found it kept forgetting the number I was on, so I set myself a target for 20 items each month and anymore after that I declare but don't count. Somebody else on here only counts the number of full bags they have decluttered.

Mrs SD, hubby is not lactose intolerant, he is just not a cheese lover. However, I am! As a general rule, I don't touch milk, cream, yoghurt or custard (unless soya or oat) but I do love cheese. The harder/ maturer the cheese, the less lactose it has. I see it as my way to having my calcium. (I did suffer this morning but it was worth it!)
Declutter:
Bootfair pile: Mini sewing machine
Wrote ten homemade birthday cards - to be sent over the next ten weeks

Evening,
I got rid of an old sheet today. DD decided to try her scissors out to "see if they cut". They did.
Off to the bin!

Hello everyone, thanks for keeping me looking round for things to clear up.
Binned an ancient perfume. Sprayed it on me first and it’s either too old or no longer to my taste so has now gone. Also shredded a pile of receipts lurking in the kitchen. and tidied up and put away everything so I have kitchen worktop space again.
other than that... have decluttered lots of biscuits....
OH cleaned and decluttered his wardrobe yesterday while I was wfh and I really need to do mine. Also need to do my project 333 as I’m still wearing mostly winter clothes, just with no tights 😂working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?9 -
