Not much decluttering done in the last week ☹️ You’re all putting me to shame! I think I’ve done the easy ‘surface layer’ and now have to address the real problem stuff. To be fair my wardrobe has had the second wave but the rest of the house is resisting (or maybe it’s me.....).
Anyway - a busy weekend - DGS Friday from 8am until noon on Saturday - was exhausted but it was lovely having him here overnight for the first time in three months - a true sign that my arm is almost mended so very positive!
Sunday DM and DDad are stressed at the thought of self-isolating. DDad esp is very active and hates being cooped up! I see grumpiness ahead. Spent some time with them trying to point out how lucky they are compared to others ....... worried about the people without families close by to keep their spirits up 😢😢😢
All in all I was not in great heart but managed to sort a box of paperwork into burning / recycling / filing so I achieved one tiny target!I’ll do better next week!Stay well everyone

184-186: unfinished items from the fridge
187: an inch of receipts and lists.
Still no idea about whether my day jobs will survive: both will depend on government decisions, school closures and whether people are prepared to leave the house. Che sera, sera.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

1. DO NOT PUT OFF TO TOMORROW WHAT CAN/SHOULD BE DONE TODAY2. WRITE AND USE “TO DO LISTS” - MINIMUM 10 MINUTE BURSTS OF ACTIVITY UNTIL THE DECLUTTERING MOJO RETURNS (Thanks oceanspirit 👏)
3. LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
4. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
5. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S?
Sunday has been a mainly dry day here but DH went out on the motorbike & managed to get wet ☹️ I emptied out the under stairs cupboard & tidied it. 3 pairs of shoes & one fleece relocated + a dozen pewter model cars & display unit & a box of postcards for CS.
Also did all my paperwork & watched (with DSis) 2 episodes of Call the Midwife (only 5 left 😱). Dinner was pork steaks, mash for DSis, mashed sweet potato for DH & I, chopped tomatoes & garden peas 🤤

Great work villagelife 👏 One Gold Star ⭐️ on it’s way 👏 Sounds like you had a wonderful break & happy to see you back 🙂
Good work boultdj 👏 yah boo to the missing plumber ☹️ But hip hip 😃 to the plumber who has done the work. Now you are warm & toastie 🙂
You earned it stellata 👏 Please don’t get me started on the coronavirus ☹️ Over 70’s to be ‘locked up’ for 4 months - it beggars belief 😡
Good work Jami74 👏 I think you must be living in the house my DH lived in when he was a boy - apparently he buried all his Dinky cars 😂 🙄
Oh dear ailz95 ☹️ There doesn’t seem to be a lot of joined up thinking from TPTB 😠 but as you say there is nothing much we can do apart from wash our hands or should that be ‘wring our hands & say oh woe is me’ 😉
I believe you elsien 🤭 Good work on the decluttering elsien 👏
Chieveley, 😞 I am a night owl - wish I was a lark 😉 Thanks for the date correction.
Thanks greenbee 👏
Oh you poor thing Nicnak ☹️ but at least you KNOW you can declutter 👏
Cape Verde - very exotic Gem-gem 😃 Still on track with 20 per month 👏
Sorry to hear you have been ill EnergyShifter ☹️ but glad you are on the mend 🙂 Well done on the decluttering 👏 & excellent idea re summery clothes as you are working from home - anything to make it seem more of a choice 😉
Wow 😮 Chocolatedrinker - you have been busy 👏 So busy in fact that you have earned your 3rd Gold Star ⭐️
RepententHoarder, Taking care of DGS is far more preferable than decluttering 😉 I have to admit I am on your parents side 😞 (as you can probably tell from my earlier comments 😉) but I can also see your POV. From what you write about DDad, I can see him going for a walk at 2 in the morning 😉 Every item out is a decluttering win 👏
Good work short_bird 👏 Hopefully common sense will prevail on the job front - TPTB seem to be deliberately ‘targeting’ not so young people 😉
see you all later

oooh! a third gold star! I'm honoured
Today is a good day so far - third gold star, 5 year old car only needed brake pads for MOT, and I found toilet roll at the supermarket this morning!

I have to ask Mrs SD - what does TPTB stand for - hubby's idea of an answer is not printable!
. I received an instagram message this morning asking if people could use small shops instead of sm's, if possible - a lot of them were already struggling and this will push many under. That's easy to say - we don't have any local shops. We have a post office 3 mornings a week in the village hall and that's it. I'm still collecting items for cs, but don't know when we'll get to take them. It's our day out tomorrow and the first thing will be to pick up a collection box from our local hospice to de-clutter loose change into.
I seem to have spent a lot of time this weekend on different apps trying to calm people down - all younger than me - all panicking about running out of stuff, the supermarkets running out of stuff, should they take their children to school, to clubs or whatever. DH has told them all that we're in the 'killing zone' being old and we're carrying on as usual - mind you we live in the middle of nowhere and go out once a week - not much more we can do. They're worried about MIL, but she's 98 every day is a bonus.
I've been trying to de-clutter our newest cat. She's a beautiful cat, very loving, quite old - about 13/14 - but hates all other animals. She spends her days hissing and growling whenever she sees the other cat and hiding upstairs. No-one wants an old lady cat though.
