EssexHebredian it’s surprising how much we accept the smaller things and don’t realise how much they annoy us until they are gone!
gradually decluttering my older tights as I wear them and decide they don’t fit or have too many catches or holes. Didn’t realise how many in my drawer are annoying pairs.Have added one jumper, one cardigan, three more tops and three pairs of heeled shoes I’m unlikely to wear. Have flagged the next four clothing items that will go as the weight gradually goes. More shoes need to go... so think I need to do my tights trick with shoes.Bought a new (second hand) handbag and debating decluttering two others... but one is larger so can be useful 🤔working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?12 -
Hoping to do more over the weekend as just been moving things around tonight but counting sorting out 2 drawers and taking vintage mixing bowls done to the kitchen ,( think taken upstairs as had too much to go in kitchen,) , sorted a kitchen drawer, 2 poached egg things binned, 2 phone calls to be removed from mailing list , online unsubscription and major email delete . Counting as 10.
A few things waiting to be picked up via Freecycle. Also handcream uu
New total 267.

Another cupboard tidied
364-365 magazines taken to DH work
366-367 catalogues recycled
368-371 a lot of brown paper recycled. Kept some for when needed.
372-373 lots of pieces of bubblewrap.
374-377 old padded envelopes.
378-379 extension cables
380-381 sheets of silver cardboard
Slowly seeing an improvement when opening cupboards and can see what is in them.

Not much done here - except cooking. I've decluttering vegetables into soup and jackfruit into a stew which we ate yesterday and I'll add dumplings to it today. We've been invited to my eldest stepson's 40th birthday party - zombie themed, I'm going as Mrs Santa-Claus (so I can wear all my Christmas jewellry) with fake blood and zombie stickers.Clutter free wannabee 2021 /52 bags to cs. /2021 'stuff' out of the placeYOU CANNOT BE ALL THE GOOD THAT THE WORLD NEEDS, BUT THE WORLD NEEDS ALL THE GOOD YOU CAN BEtaken from Shelbizleee on YouTube - her copyright10

I'd like to join this thread - have been following since last year, but taking the plunge and joining in now! Supposed to be selling house (downsizing) but daunting the amount of "stuff" we have. Hubby always saving things "just in case", but admit sometimes "dispose" of bits and pieces that am sure he'll never use! Struggling a bit with new format as cannot see all of each post - will try to figure that out, will post more during the week.

1. DO NOT PUT OFF TO TOMORROW WHAT CAN/SHOULD BE DONE TODAY2. WRITE AND USE “TO DO LISTS”
3. LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
4. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
5. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S?
DH & DSis ended up being out for 6 hours - took them over 2 hours to get home as all routes on the DLR were not running 😕I washed, dried, folded & put away 2 loads of washing + summoned up the energy to vacuum downstairs 😉 Didn’t feel up to cooking so DH ordered a curry for me & fish & chips for himself & DSis. The advantage for me is that I have Saturday’s dinner 😁
Saturday started quite bright but is now dark, damp & windy ☹️ Was up in time to pay the milkman 🙂 but bad news the price is going up ☹️ Currently wrapped up & clearing down my planner - Guy Martin in Japan - I do like him as a presenter 🙂
350 - 358 Glass bottle, 2 lots of paperwork, 5 foil trays, newspaper - Recycled
359 Bag of kitchen detritus - Binned

Good work nannywindow 👏 If the grill pan was that dirty you must use it a lot 👍
Brilliant work EssexHebridean 👏 Made me tired 😓 just reading about your decluttering 😆
Not too bad now Nicnak 👍 just beautiful bruising 🤭 Do take time to relax & recharge your batteries during half term - as well as the decluttering 😉
Quite agree newlywed - we seem to become ‘clutter blind’ with the annoying little things ☹️ Good work on your decluttering 👏
Naughty, naughty TC77 - moving items to more suitable places IS Decluttering 👏
Great work villagelife 👏 Seeing an improvement is such a boost to one’s Decluttering Mojo 😇
Good work on decluttering food ailz95 👏 The party sounds great - have fun 😁Yippee 🥳 Just_60 - welcome aboard the Decluttering Bandwagon 👏 I love seeing new people taking the plunge 👏 So I will put in my tuppence worth to get you started 😆
Do you have a plan of action? As you say it can be daunting when you first embark on the Decluttering Journey 😕 One of my first suggestions is to create a Clutter Free Haven - it can be anywhere - it is just an area where you can sit & relax with a cuppa or a tipple 😆 & doing something you enjoy 😊 e.g. knitting, reading or even meditating. Once you have that you can pick a spot/shelf etc to declutter. The box/bag system comes in useful at this point - Bin, Recycle, Charity/Sell, Relocate. Once a box/bag is full dispose of the contents accordingly I.e. into the appropriate wheelie bin, deliver to the CS, list on chosen selling site or put items into their new locations. Rinse & repeat. Re your ‘Justin’ hubby I would continue doing what you are doing 😆 - hopefully when he starts noticing your decluttering successes & how happy it is making you he might join you 😉
Shame the new format is causing so many problems & I really, really miss the proper smilies 😭 but I would miss all my ‘friends’ on the thread more!
Keep up the good work everyone 👏 & am hoping to see a few more of our posters back -especially leelad - I do worry about you.

Word of the day: Gluggaveður
"Icelanders have gluggaveður, which literally translates to “window weather.” This refers specifically to weather that’s nice to look at, but only from afar (as in bright, beautiful winter days that will absolutely murder your cheeks if you step outside). Instead, why not curl up inside and enjoy it from the comfort of your own home?"

Hope everyone is staying safe in and outside the house! definitely decluttering weather but take care! This morning I got up and started tidying and put a couple of empty boxes at the bottom of the stairs for sorting.
