And still waiting to here the fate of my application since sending in I.D on the 26 November.
After uploading I.D documents on 16 December, I received '....we have some news on your application' email on 17 December.
Best that you call them to ask what is going on. Some applications seem to get stuck and need manual intervention.
@regular posters: what happened to the mse 'give them a call' animation. Not available with new system? Too corny for this day and age maybe?
  • Just tagging on to ask whether the wine delivery has any documentation saying 'here's your reward' or whether it looks like a Virgin wine order delivery?

Account switched on 23 December and had my notification of the wine a few days ago. All seems to have gone smoothly so far.
I'm not sure if the MSE info is just out of date but this doesn't make sense to me
Virgin Money also opens a linked savings account paying 0.5% AER variable for you when you get this account – you'll need to add £1,000 to it to get the wine offer. But as it can be easily beaten on rate, don't keep the £1,000 in there longer than that
The best rate I can see on MSE is 0.55% and others for 0.5% too, so the phrase "easily beaten" doesn't seem logical to me
I'm not sure why you'd bother for 0.05% when you have the convenience of money to transfer to your current account.
Is it just that the MSE guide for Virgin has now become outdated?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

If you mean the actual package delivered, the box is red emblazoned with Virgin wines on it.
You get notified on the day of delivery via email that it will arrive with a 1 hour time slot. I got nothing previous to this.

As I said in an earlier post, no email for me, wine just arrived in a big white van, but yes was in a nice red box.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

Had my third email with the wine code today telling me to claim it. Tempted but we've already started drinking the wine as it arrived last week.

Is it always the same code? I'm feeling left out as we only got one code and the wine hasn't arrived yet. It's a joint account and they only emailed my husband even though I set up the account. Rude 😂

Someone earlier in this long thread mentioned that anyone who had to apply for the current account switch and wine offer manually (instead of online), might have to apply for the wine voucher code manually too. In my case this proved correct, I had completed the switch on 23rd December and fulfilled the other criteria by 24th and had not seen any code by 4th January.

I decided to check how I would be notified of the code by phoning Virgin's CS on 4th Jan. According to the CS person, it is correct that you do need to ask, as the "system" is not automatic if the original application was handled by phone. CS sent the necessary email to Virgin Wines and today I got 2 identical emails with the same wine voucher code. Pretty good speed from Virgin Wines, as I assume they have to check that all the criteria is met before issuing the code.

Needless to say I have not attempted to try to wheedle a case of wine from each email as the codes were the same
