I've just tried to apply. Already have several Virgin RS & a couple of ISAs. Got as far as 'We're checking your details' then message as follows:
'Sorry but we couldn't confirm all your details.
Just to be extra sure, we're sending a letter with an authorisation code to your home address. When you get it you'll be able to use the code to continue your application'

I had current account with Yorkshire Bank until October 2017 but no mention of that. Pity as I still have a record of my log in details :*

Which website are you using to make the application?

I am a customer of both Virgin Money and Yorkshire Bank, and tried to open the Virgin Money current account on what seemed to be the logical website, Virgin Money, and received the Call 0800 message.

I then tried the other approach, to log into my Yorkshire Bank account to apply for the Virgin Money current account, and it was so easy to open the account.

I was using the VM website as I'm no longer a YB customer, and haven't been since October 2017

I opened one of these yesterday.
The easiest account opening I’ve ever had !
I've given up. I didn't want an overdraft, but it wouldn't accept 0 or 0.00.

Then I had to say how much rent or mortgage I pay. It wouldn't accept nil again.

I am a current Yorkshire bank account holder, and they linked some of my details over.

I have Virgin RS, ISA and Savings account. I have had YB ISA and when I tried to open the YB/Clydesdale account a couple of years ago I had to ring up because it remembered me and was unable to apply online, despite the count being closed.  Same again. Couldn’t apply via Virgin log on.  Rang YB.  Kindly gave me my customer number - I had switched my B account to Nat West and although have no account open still have the customer ID active.  Eventually found my paperwork.  Found the little fob for logging in.  However, now via app for verification.  Couldn’t get it to work - even tried to reset the PIN number.  Kept getting error codes.  Not easy at all, and I am not sure if I can be bothered to go through all that on the phone again.
Was MFW#60 - mortgage paid off December 2021

I thought you may still have other savings accounts with Yorkshire Bank.
Anyway, this current account is 2.02% for only £1000, and the linked savings account is only 1%, and drops to 0.5% on 01/07/20.

The validation for my application allowed no overdraft, and 0 for mortgage or rent, and 0 for other payments, so not sure why the validation is different for you. You presumably logged into your Yorkshire Bank online account, and made the application from there, for your details to be pre-populated.
If you are keen on this account, you could specify a tiny overdraft, and as an existing customer probably won't be credit checked, and you could try a tiny amount for rent.

Yes, I did log into my Yorkshire account first. I also needed to show my pre tax income, and as I didn't have that to hand either, I gave up. I did end up putting in a £50 overdraft, and could have put my monthly maintenance charge in. Might try again another day.

All current account applications are credit checked - sometimes app banks only do a soft check, most do a full one.
