It gives me something to do while I'm locked in!
I've thought through the Bank of Scotland log in. I might have had my YB CC direct debit at Bank of Scotland. Not bothering to check but I'm pretty sure. I've also picked up on a tiny error I was making - the Virgin RSs are via Savings and the current account via Current Accounts when you first open the Virgin log-in page.

The link to BoS is baffling. It might just be a co-incidence. AFAIK, the only connection between BoS and Clydesdale is that they both have their roots in Scotland but otherwise they have always been rivals.

oh really, i assumed it was the other way round due to the name change of Virgin. Strange one that

I guess they figured that Virgin was a stronger brand.
And given Mr Virgin's current public standing over demanding millions.... maybe not a wise choice 😂
Even though he has very little link to any of the Virgin brands.

The connection is me. Me and my direct debit. Convinced.

Richard Branson used to own a 35% stake in Virgin Money, and now has a 13% holding. I have no idea what the obsession with Branson is, and even less of an idea why he would even be mentioned in the context of this thread.

I've just tried to apply. Already have several Virgin RS & a couple of ISAs. Got as far as 'We're checking your details' then message as follows:
'Sorry but we couldn't confirm all your details.
Just to be extra sure, we're sending a letter with an authorisation code to your home address. When you get it you'll be able to use the code to continue your application'

I had current account with Yorkshire Bank until October 2017 but no mention of that. Pity as I still have a record of my log in details :*
I got this sending letter spiel too, but in my case I had noticed that it had done a strange thing with my address in that although it initially showed my correctly capitalised street name, it then changed parts of it to lower case when I selected the address from the drop down list. I.e. from "99 Lets Be Avenue" to "99 Lets be avenue". So I think for me that could be the reason that they've decided they need to send me the code to prove that my address is real.

Does anyone know if it is possible to open more than one VM current account in your sole name, or indeed more than one VM joint current account (with the same person)? I had a quick look but couldn't find anything on their website about it.
Nothing that I can see in the T&C's or application that say otherwise.

I'll bet there are people on here who've already opened (or tried to) multiples of these accounts.

Like when it was possible (and people to still have) multiples of the TSB, HBOS etc offerings.
  • Finally took the plunge and opened a 2nd current account (had to do it after reading all the threads about Natwest closing accounts and leaving people screwed???) and Virgin money is the one I chose so far so good. Pretty straightforward to open, easy enough to register for online banking, even made a £10 test payment from my Natwest current account today, no probs.

I've now got the back up account I need in case Natwest turn into Nastywest with me.

Decided to apply for this account this evening. Interestly, I got a message at the end saying "A team member needs to go over your application in more detail. We will do this within two business days and you will be notified by email or text with a link to log in and see the decision."
