Virgin Money Current Account

And your point is? The only thing I believed about those threads was how exposed I was only having one current account, whether they are genuine or not doesn't interest me. I'm not so naïve to think a few 'bad' threads OR 'bad' reviews of Natwest makes me any more or less at risk of having my account blocked frozen whatever you want to call it.
In fact in another thread I pointed out the flaws in 'Trustpilot' reviews when somebody suggested checking Natwest on there, I said find me a bank on 'Trustpilot' with a good review!0 -

I got this sending letter spiel too, but in my case I had noticed that it had done a strange thing with my address in that although it initially showed my correctly capitalised street name, it then changed parts of it to lower case when I selected the address from the drop down list. I.e. from "99 Lets Be Avenue" to "99 Lets be avenue". So I think for me that could be the reason that they've decided they need to send me the code to prove that my address is real.badger09 said:I've just tried to apply. Already have several Virgin RS & a couple of ISAs. Got as far as 'We're checking your details' then message as follows:
'Sorry but we couldn't confirm all your details.
Just to be extra sure, we're sending a letter with an authorisation code to your home address. When you get it you'll be able to use the code to continue your application'
I had current account with Yorkshire Bank until October 2017 but no mention of that. Pity as I still have a record of my log in details
Authorisation code arrived in post today. After a bit of faffing, probably due to user incompetence, I've managed to complete application, get set up for OLB & app, and partially fund my account.
A bit dismayed I have 2 entirely separate sets of log in details, passwords etc - one for existing ISAs & savings accounts and another for current account & linked savings account, and that they're not all visible at the same time. Ho hum, minor irritation only

My understanding is that the "traditional" savings products are running on the "Newcastle" system. Current accounts and the savings accounts linked to the "new" VM current accounts (rebadged Clydesdale "B" current accounts) use the Clydesdale systems. At least the VM savings system doesn't (yet) demand the use of Clydesdale's dratted little security key device to authenticate all but the most trivial actions.badger09 said:

An interesting piece of information appears in today's Guardian:

I am "Ho humming" as well. Eventually opened the account using authorisation code, got account number, knew I would have to re-register under "current accounts". All was going well until I had to set a new password - I kept getting "password not strong enough" despite using random numbers, capital and lower case letters, and several characters and a total of 15 of them before I gave up! Has anyone else had this problem?

It took me a couple of attempts to create a strong enough password but finally got there by adding 4 characters to my existing Virgin savings account password (so 12 in total, including one of the "/?*" type). I think at one point I gave up, then started again later, at which point I got a new SMS code and it worked ok. Sorry, I've obviously tried to blank this traumatic experience, with some successwhere_are_we said:badger09 said:Notepad_Phil said:

Seems a bit 'fragile' to me, anyone?
After opening my VM account my initial impression is it looks okay, I like the linked savings account and it looks (well to me anyway) like its a fully functioning current account, I'm no expert in this area as It's the first new account I've opened in 35 years!!!. I did a couple of £10 test payments to and from Natwest current all okay, just transferred a £1000 in as Natwest account pays 0% in interest on rewards account and I know I'm wasting my time having over 10k in Natwest account. I have struggled a couple of times to 'log-on' even though I KNOW I entered username and password correctly so as I said seems a bit 'fragile' to me, hopefully it will settle down?

I've downloaded the app. Much simpler to use if you've got a Fingerprint ID smartphoneonlyfoolsandparking said:Seems a bit 'fragile' to me, anyone?

I have scoured the available T&Cs to check before asking, but is anyone aware of a minimum balance that must be in the instant saver, in order to be eligible for the 2.02% interest on the £1,000 in the current account?
Although the 1% on an unlimited balance is a good offer, at the current time I might as well keep the savings in my Marcus account whilst that rate is higher.

There is no minimum balance, or other condition. You get the variable interest rate for the current account on up to £1,000 held in the current account, and that's it. Any money you might have in the linked savings account doesn't come into it.dcs34 said:I have scoured the available T&Cs to check before asking, but is anyone aware of a minimum balance that must be in the instant saver, in order to be eligible for the 2.02% interest on the £1,000 in the current account?
