So make a comparison.
Choose a £200 Tablet to compare with any of the laptops recommended for £200 here.0 -
You're all wrong. A desktop is a far better proposition. More ergonomic, and far easier and cheaper to fix if it goes wrong. Easy to do within budget, too.
What's next on the list?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Ha Ha, offered the exact same as you - £200 too
As I said, he counter offered. I was not quick off the mark, think he may have felt after receiving a second or more offers at £200, that it was more realistic price? My max value in my head with p&p was under £250 - something about £250 that makes me feel my wallet is empty, compared to 249.99Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. If perhaps the budget was £50, one might recommend a second hand Chromebook.
I can see no reason for the recommendation of a Chromebook over what has been suggested here in the form of Windows laptops.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. I got my in-laws a Chromebook a couple of years ago. They struggle even with that sometimes but then they are really not computer literate at all. But a Windows or Mac machine would be way too complex. At least with the Chromebook they don’t have to worry about updates (and consequently I don’t have to worry about it, seeing as it’s me that maintains it for them). Calls to me like “what’s this message I’m getting on the screen” have decreased massively since they got it.
A tablet had been suggested for them, but a 10” tablet would have been too small for them and aged fingers trying to use an on-screen keyboard just wouldn’t have worked. So, I can see the case for a Chromebook in this situation, whereas a tablet or a Windows laptop, whilst giving more for your money doesn’t mean it is always the best choice in every situation.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Ok, no cashback, possibly no one year warranty?, and definitely not new.0
