UKPC - Point of appeal - Invalid Parking Charge Reference

Options
Hi - I have looked through the newbies thread and searched the rest of the forum, found two previous related but no definitive answer given...
Driver received PCN and has waited until the 26th day to appeal - now they do not seem to be able to appeal through the website and get the following error:

"Invalid Parking Charge Referrence No or Vehicle Registration"
(Yes the spelling error is theirs as well :rotfl: )

The PCN number is correct as per the ticket and the VCN has been tried as many different ways as is possible (swapping 0 and O, leaving the gap etc).
Does the driver still need to appeal but via post as they are unable to do so through the website?
Obviously the driver wants to do this correctly but is now worrying that the late appeal via post won't disrupt the NTK procedure.

TIA for any assistance.

The driver should sit on their hands in the corner and say and do absolutely nothing.

If it is not possible for The Keeper to appeal, they should complain to the BPA.

  • So wait to see if NTK arrives at all then complain to BPA?

That is one option, or the keeper could complain now. By doing the latter, the scammers may be distracted by the BPA asking them to sort out their web site and forget to send an NTK at all.

Is the VRN on the NTD correct?

  • Yes the VRN is correct. I will organise the keeper to complain to the BPA, see what happens then I guess!?

See what some of the other regulars suggest. I can't work out if it is better to complain now or wait for the NTK. I can see pros and cons either way, but I'm leaning towards a complaint now before the scammers think about contacting the DVLA in a day a two just in case being contacted by the BPA distracts them.

Ok thanks, will see if the others come up with anything, thanks :)
  • So with regards to complaining to the BPA, what would need to be said? Am assuming its from the driver as well due to the inability to appeal via the UKPC website?

    Have you read this?

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP after the election, as it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • Yeah I've read the articles, thanks :) So any further advice or should the driver be appealing to the BPA as the website is unable to accept the appeal??

No, it is the keeper that should be complaining to the BPA.

The keeper needs to complain that UKPC are not allowing an appeal.
