Thank you for running this year after year.
I would love to take part for 2021 with a target of £12000 please.No. 5 in the 'Save 12k for 2021' thread.

I'm just raiding my £2 coin pot and collecting the last few pounds from family - buying presents. So that I can make my last deposit for the year. I will reach £25K for the year. I can't believe how much I have managed to save.I will definitely be joining again for 2021 - my seventh year. My target is going to be £12K but hopefully, if we have no 'out of the blue' big bills, it will be closer to what I have achieved this year.16/12 last deposit put in. #27 reporting in, I've not done well keeping this up to date (looks like my last update was for August!). Life's been busy, with some challenges with my elderly parents, but otherwise all ok.Updates are £2750 for September, £2750 for October, and £3950 for November, bringing me up to within £1k of my 2020 target. Must admit that i've slightly lost my mojo since paying off the mortgage in June, that's been such a target for so long that i'm struggling to find a goal to replace it. Not a problem I though i'd haveHope all's well with all you folks, stay safe. L.

Count me in for 2021, I need to work out a 'reasonable' figure, but this year, working from home and not having office lunches out, I've noticed how much I normally waste. I'm assuming there are general rules on what can be included/excluded, or is that up to the user? Myself I would only want to count my salary after pension contributions. What I find interesting is articles that say if you can save 50% of your salary, you can retire in 15 years. Thats longer than I've currently been working. I clearly have some savings right now, but the thought of all the beers and pizza I've ordered over the years, that I can barely remember is insane!!!!!
I think the key is to work on factors you can control, so number 1 would be to spend less on junk you won't remember in a year/two or so time.4 -
