I can send you a virtual hug :grouphug: and it must feel like :wall: but you just need to reset.
I have not seen you actually doing the phase where you record all your commitments and when they are due so that you are able to plan your spends. It is OK not to but it means you will be taken by surprise (I still am by things DH has, that just appear, every now and then). Having a small "unexpected item in the bagging area" pot might see this smoothed out, and scraping your Tilly-Tidying into this (all your leftover bits) will keep it there for these emergencies.
Don't be disheartened, you need some small pleasures, so concentrate on the pleasure as a family unit and try to laugh about the travel mishap. Try a mind reset with a coffee to regain your calm maybe?Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Thank you again SuffolkLass. I do need to write out when things are due and when things come in. It’s very complicated as things come in sporadically, so things also go our the same, but I need to get a handle on it. It’s helping me checking the bank every day and seeing where things are going. It has also been a huge eye opener seeing where my money goes and how it just disappears! I have a night off after Roo is back from Cubs so I will have a look then. I am yet to go shopping but will endeavour to do so before I pick the children up. In other news I have bids mounting to £20 on eBay, so getting there.
House is a tip so need to sort that, OH said he will hoover so I need to do the dishwasher and sort the washing and put a load on. I’m sure I have way more then that to do but I can’t think right now.0 -
Ok so i Have sat and worked out when things need paying and when I have money coming in, it’s been a bit complicated to say the least. I’ve put dates when things need to be paid in my calendar on my phone. I should be ok, I’m just going to have to keep an eye on it all. Ex is being a tw@ but we’re not going to talk about that.
I didn’t go shopping I just couldn’t cope with it. I found some change in the car and went to the dreaded coop but I managed to get reduced bread, milk and tiger baton, but I failed in the sense I bought a celebration cake. It was £2 instead of £9 and the children really wanted it. Everything came to £2.50 and we have a lovely cake and it was from money I didn’t know I had. So I don’t feel too bad. Will go shopping after the school run.1 -
Ok been shopping this morning! Only went to Lidl couldn’t be bothered to do Tesco and the 2 bits I wanted from there I got in Lidl’s and were only slightly more pennies. I think I’ve got most things. I’m pleased with the reduced things I got. The total was £25, I didn’t get fuel but am working late tomorrow so will pop by the garage then.
Tonight OH is working so it’s homework night with the children and I’ll have a quick clean around. The hoovering needs doing and washing as always, I need to unload the DW too. I’m hoping to take the children to the park after school but we shall see how cold it is!0 -
I think £2 instead of £9 for a cake is fab! And I bet the kiddies really enjoyed it too0

Hey Eyebright how are you? Yes it’s a mermaid cake, all glittery icing and wonderfulness! Have just packed OH off to work with a packed lunch. I made him toast and allowed him a yogurt for breakfast! I’m just sat eating toast, and I have a confession to make, I bought myself some 41p biscuits with the shopping and I’m having a lovely time eating a couple with my cuppa. Well washer is on and I’ve swept the floor and wiped the worktops.
Feeling very pleased and proud of myself that I haven’t slipped up on the clothes or randomness buying front. I’ve had a couple of wobbles but I’ve managed to get over them. I just need to keep it going. Oh just checked and I have £25 worth of bids on eBay. I still need to buy May wellies and they’re going to both need rain jackets, hopefully I can get all 3 from eBay for £25 including postage. Would still really like to buy the shelving unit for the children’s room, which was another £25 but we’ll see how well these sell. Really do need to list the other few things on FB. Will do that tonight. So WILL.1 -
So jobs for tonight:
Invoice!!!!!
Sort dvla
eBay/FB
Roast chicken
Hoover
Quick tidy
When littlies are home we need to do homework and I’ll hang the washing. Think I might make a bingo game for them, as they really like it. Has anyone made rice pudding with ordinary rice in the slow cooker? Thinking it’s a cheap easy way to fill tummies.1 -
I have used long grain, basmati and arborio rice to make rice pudding in the past.1
