My experience is of FB Marketplace rather than Schpock but no reply usually means they have a pending or sold transaction (and are too rude to say so)

Thank you! I had a couple of no replies on FB too. Now I have a slight dilemma. I have found a pair of wellies that are £3 and round the corner from work. But I’m not sure how much May will like them.... for the sake of another £5 I can get her wellies she actually likes...... I’m going to ask her what she thinks of them and try and big them up and see what she says.

Have also decided fo buy some cheap custard powder/tins and rice pudding to fill tummies up a bit more. As I can make micro sponge puddings for afters. Sorry just putting thoughts down.

Maybe get some plastic stickers to decorate the £3 wellies to May's taste?

  • Hi Missymoo81 - I have just read your diary from the start and your situation sounds pretty similar to mine with the kids and blended family. I've just started working full time now that my 3 year old is settled at nursery and I try to make green choices too.

I think your doing well, its amazing the little changes here and there can make. Good luck and I look forward to hearing how you are getting along.

  • So you really need to get your nails done for £25? Could you not put that to debt instead and you do it yourself if you really need to?

Hi Clarissa! Thanks so much for popping in! Have you got a Diary?
Hi thanks purple fairy. No you’re right, I don’t NEED to get my nails done. But I’ve taken away everything else. I don’t smoke or drink, and have stopped my bad costa habit and gym clothes buying. I’m only going to have them done twice more until they’re long enough to not have extensions (if they’re too short I just bite them). And my friend who does them has just set up her own business in a salon and I really want to go and support her.
  • Hi Missymoo, yep I have a diary. Just look for Queen bee on the debt free diaries.

I can be really tight but with age I have learnt that we all need some pleasures, can't all be living to pay debts (although debts do need to be paid) but I think a treat here and there is just as important esp being a fellow mum who has probably made many sacrifices. My exH was a real tight wad and we stopped living and this was one of the reasons we parted but my new partner his attitude to money is different and his influence has rubbed off on me and taught me that we need to not be so hard on ourselves so yes be sensible with the nails but don't cut it out completely if this is your treat. Well that's my thoughts anyway. Saying that I really need to get my hair cut.. I need to factor that into my own budget :)

Ah thanks Hun! I’ve found your diary, just working my way through it! We sound so much alike! My ex was exactly the same! He was super tight. Didn’t believe in doing things for the pleasure of it. We never went anywhere or did anything unless it had a deal attached. My new OH is completely the other way, so I have learnt to be somewhere in the middle. I really do feel like I’ve made a massive lifestyle change. I think it’s the first time I haven’t been to costa during the week for about 2 years! I also need my hair doing. I have a mass of curly hair with lots of white (not even greys) coming through. Far more than I should have at 38 I’m sure. I get my hair done every 9 weeks. It costs £48 a time so around £24 a month. A big expense I know but I can’t do it myself.

Am sat watching Midsomer murders, (my guilty pleasure). OH has gone for a paper, and I’m just cooking some pasta for the left over bolognese.

    Ok!
I have sat and worked out lots of amazing budgety type things! OH told me about an App to download which tells me when I’m getting paid from the business and how much. As it all comes in bits and pieces. ANd the business is making more money than I thought! So I have redone my budgets, also I forgot a load of things coming our! I think I am going to use the pot/envelope method for some of the things, just to make it easier. Will post tomorrow! Feel really happy like I actually have a handle on things!

Ah and how fleeting was that moment. We went to a show yesterday, which we’d booked months ago as a present for the children. Ended up spending £75!!! I was so tired I missed the turning and didn’t realise and ended up driving half way to London and had added an hour and a half on my journey! So had to get fuel and food and copious amounts of coffee. I am exhausted today, May has a nightmare so I was up in the night. I really need some sleep and I really need to go shopping as we have no food but I just can’t find the energy. Need to rebudget. Need a hug.
