Mobile Cashback problems - Vodaphone

  • I thought Vodafone were being too good to be true!

I had a cashback deal with PhoneBox Direct that I didn't get to claim anything on before they went bump. Luckily, I saw the article and advice on here and phoned Vodafone for them to review my case.

As expected, the advisor I initially spoke to couldn't help and said someone from a specialist team had to call me back. A couple of days later, someone did phone and offered me a) more texts and minutes for the same tariff I'm already on (£35pm) or b) half price line rental. I chose the half price line rental.

A week later, I receive a letter from Vodafone saying I had agreed to a £35 pm contract for an ADDITIONAL 12 months, with the same amount of texts/minutes I already had!

So this evening I called and spoke to an advisor. He said the wrong code had been used to indicate the deal so he amended that and refunded half of this months. Excellent, I'm thinking, how nice and efficient are Vodafone?

I then mention the fact that the contract has been extended for a further 12 months. He can't change this on my account but spoke to the 'management team' who informed him that the half price line rental was on the basis that the contract was for 12 months.

I explained that I agreed to nothing of the sort and although he is very apologetic, he can't help or put me through to a manager.

I'm now awaiting a ringback from a manager instead and will keep you posted!

I'm also very unhappy with Vodafone - I've been waiting over 3 weeks now for this 'special' team to call me back. They tried to call me once in the first week and I missed the call, but they told my wife they would call back the next day, yeah right.

I have chased Vodafone CS about five times now, every time it's the same story - "we can only put a note on the system for them to call you"...:mad::mad:

Still waiting for my call-back, been 5 weeks now. Just rang CS again, same old story...

The best bit was that she said her manager was busy and would have to call me back (even though he can't do anything either apparently). I responded that I hoped it would be in the next 5 weeks!

Was going to just downgrade the tariff til I realised I'd be paying £20pm for only 75 mins instead of being offered the full 400 mins/500 txts for £17.50pm that the CS rep knew was being offered by this team.

Anyone had a call-back recently from this oh so elusive 'special' team?

  • My phone call never came!

Funny that they are keen to ring you back when there is a chance they can con you into another contract but won't when you have a complaint.

I rang again today and explained the whole situation yet again. I was told that the half price deal took a month to come into effect and the reason that my contract date had restarted was because they had "taken over" the cashback companies contract - this makes no sense to me!

In the end, I said to forget the half price line rental deal, I want out from Vodafone sooner rather than later so I'm back on the original deal but at least I can tell them where to go in May rather being stuck with them until December 08.

Hope other people have had more luck than me?
  • I have only just realised that Cool New Mobile had gone into administration. Phoned vodaphone tonight & the only thing I could do at the time was to move to the cheapest £20.00 tarriff.
I am waiting for the call from the specialist team to see if they can offer me a better deal. Will see if the half price offer still stands.
I have to say I havent been very impressed so far over £100.00 cancellation charge/ no specialist team contact number...- wont use them again. Plus reception is rubbish!

finally i had a call back from the specialist team after 6 weeks.
they had already agreed to half price my contract but had extended my by another 6 months. After weeks and weeks of complaining i finally emailed them and said they had 7 days to reply otherwise i would be taking up the matter with ofcom and the issue of miss selling mobile phone contracts.

within 7 days i get a phone call back offering me half price for the remainder of my contract. i reminded the opperator that i had already accepted this deal and that my complaint was in regards to the fact my contract had been extended with out my permision.
This has now been addressed and my contract has been put back to end in may.

    Thank god thats over
