Fab!!!! What a bonus just when you need it too.

If it's £30 definitely get that gone, it's such a psychological boost to have one less debt and then the minimum can be rolled into the next meaning that will be gone a little sooner.

I know, little windfalls like this are great and the best bit is that I didn't straight away think "oo I can see if anyone fancy's going out for a few drinks to catch up" but rather "what can I apply this money to in order to get the best benefit", how the mind has shifted!

Not had a reply back yet but as its with one of the companies that has recently gone under I don't think I'll be waiting too long for a reply, as you say it will be a psychological boost as every thing paid off a little early just helps roll the DFD forward :T

Found your diary as well DAL so will have a read through for inspiration, thanks for reading and commenting on mine I really do find that peoples comments help!

    Happy Saturday all!

I was very much going to leave updating until Monday as I don't have my spreadsheet available today but then I thought what if my little bit of good news helps someone else see that bad situations do get better so here it is.

Loan 1 is paid in full, two and a half months early!!!:j

As per my previous post this was helped by my little windfall and the fact that I've been able to make a couple of overpayments due to survey completions but its done and I'm so happy about it! It was the smallest loan which to my mind made it easier to tackle to give me a small win as early as possible and thats exactly what its turned out to be.

To make it stick in my mind/make me work a bit for it rather than just using the money that was in my account and keeping the cash from my win at home I made myself WALK to the bank this morning, pay in the money and then come home and make the payment, may sound silly but it would have been to easy to fritter away that extra £30 of cash rather than putting it into the bank and then paying it, no way did I trust myself just yet to pay it days ago and think that I'd then go to the bank and replace the money...........mindset has shifted but still wants to be naughty.........

As soon as the money was paid I immediately cancelled the standing order for that loan and increased the one for my next targeted loan so that I don't have a chance to use that money for anything else, my whole purpose is to snowball these loan repayments as soon as one is settled so that they clear quicker and my money can be my own.

So the journey now has its first milestone mark, still a few to go but on this one slow and steady will be my friend on this long road.

Hope everyone ihas a great weekend, if only the weather was better today mine would be great:(

(further updated sig to come on Monday when hopefully I can add some pesky lbs as well as £'s........

Well done :j what an achievement! And well done on the walking too, might help with the Ibs as well as the £ :rotfl:

I walked to town and back today too, bought some walking boots and socks, just about to book my sponsered walk for May, felt confident earlier, now my legs hurt, only walked about 4miles, need to be ready for 15!!!

    Thanks DAL!

Signature all update to show new targeted loan, % paid was deflating initially until I put in what will be paid in January which took it up to 50% which made me feel much better! Next loan should be paid off in April as it stands but a few overpayments should reduce this.........come on surveys:rotfl:

Oo new boots, no excuse now then, you'll soon be racking up the miles (and possible blisters.....), and no doubt us DFW followers will be cheering you on for it :j

No other news to report from me, standard weekend. Got some more clutter/rubbish out, normal cleaning/shopping/reading and riding for me, quite what got into my head on Saturday to ride in the wind and rain I don't know.

On the plus side 5lbs lost so have taken out £5 from my purse to stash in a seperate tin, I'm thinking if I sort of pay myself for any weight loss each week anything that then doesnt need to be taken back (hopefully none!) will get paid extra off the current loan............sort of a double incentive  will have to see how that goes.

Other than that, happy monday all, off to catch up on some diaries........

Just been (not intenionally!) listening to a conversation going on around me about someone who is trying to cut bills and transfer credit card balances. It must be that time of year when everyone is feeling the pinch and looking to make changes.............may point them in the forum direction discreetly so as not to give my game away......

Unfortunately I have no exciting news to report. Getting to grips with the diet, will admit to the trainers only being worn to run stuff to the bin (oops) and 8 days to payday. Thinking at this point that I should be able to survive until payday, although I realise having said that I have asked for a disaster.

This definately feel like a long month with no movement even though I settled the one loan on the weekend, feels like that was forever ago:(

Put some rules in place for myself just to 1) get myself doing a bit more around the house rather than watching mindless rubbish on TV and 2) will cut gas and electric. Rules are 1) no TV before 7pm on weeknights and 6pm on weekends (too easy to get caught into something during the day and feel like I've had no weekend because of it), 2) heating only on for 2 hours a day, I'm not a cold person and will happily walk around in jumper and socks but don't want the house to get damp, 3) no sitting down even to read before 7pm on a week night, most nights I get home around 6-6:15 (and I then get up at 4:30 so am normally in bed by 9....(I need at least 7 hours or become evil!)) so its not a long time. So far so good and they've been in place all January.

Keep trying to plot out the debt attack further than 3 months but that just makes me feel even more impatient so need to stop myself.

Hope everyone else is ok, totally boring post but felt the need to check in so I don't abandon my efforts on here which could very much lead to abandoning all efforts if I'm not careful (plus the cats get very bored listening to me prattle on....)

    Happy Thursday all :)

Love the no TV rule. We ditched sky about 5months ago and haven't missed it at all. My issue is mindless phone use. I try and read books more and am a big user of the library. By the time the smalls are in bed it's about 8.15, and then we are going up at 10, it flys by!

I went for a walk in new walking shoes, no blisters, so looks good. I bought some shoes, so I have shoes and boots as the walk is in May in parkland so shoes may be better for the terrain. Will use the boots for training too though. It was a nice walk, but the 25km is looking like a big target!

Reducing TV time has definately been a good choice for me, I'm getting more done and feel so much better for it. I always read when I go to bed anyway so I'm not missing out on my books and during rest time in the days on the weekend I've always got a book in my hand........also means I am not mindlesses staring at my phone which I have been prone to doing ......

Glad to see you've got your boots and have been trying them out DAL, no blisters is definately a win! You'll be doing miles without realising it before you can blink :rotfl:

Beautiful weather this weekend, if a little chilly and icy in the mornings. Whilst tidying yesterday I found Tessie Clubcard vouchers for £7.50 off from months ago which were still in date, winner! Due to them this weeks shop cost me the grand sum of £12.98:T

Unfortunately thats all the fun stuff I have to report money wise......limited surveys so no overpayments and need to wait till this weekend and pay day to see some debt payments go out so I can update everything fully .........it's coming just very slowly..........January always takes a age to get through!

On the good note and topping up my "yippee" pot a little I did lose another 2lbs this week so another £2 in my pot, at least one of my goals is going down :rotfl:

    Happy Monday all!

    Thanks!

Yep we've have a few days of fully iced cars, I can't be bothered with de-icer as it generally just freezes up again as I set off because I'm so early so i just turn the heaters on, scrape the lights and wait for it to clear (don't know whether that just makes me sound lazy!) :rotfl:

I've spent the last hour reading your diary and just WOW! It's quite a story, and you've completely turned your financial life around so well done you.

To be paying off your debts so quickly while keeping a horse is amazing because they are not a cheap hobby!

I'm loving your enthusiasm. It takes me back to the early days of my own lightbulb moment - that initial feeling of cold panic, followed by a determination to do something about it, followed by the realization that you not only CAN turn your juggernaut around but that it's actually quite fun and rewarding in its own way. Obviously my numbers were much higher (I mean, I don't want to sound boastful or anything, but my debts are WAY bigger than yours :D:D) but the principle is the same.

Keep doing what you're doing and I've subscribed to watch your progress :)
