p.s after completely coming off the diet Friday (and Saturday do'h!) the best I can report on that is that I stayed the same which I will take as I could have been a put on week very easily if I hadn't behaved yesterday

    Good Morning all!
Another week done, another Friday and unfortunately nothing exciting to report from me :disappointed: I read quite a few diaries (I don't always comment, sorry!) and alot of people update daily but they always seem to have something exciting/relevant/debt busting/dramatic to say, if I updated everyday you would have an awful lot of "got up, fed the mogs, sorted the horse out, went to work, sorted the horse out, fed the mogs, fed myself, went to bed" my life just isn't that exciting.
However Mondays and Fridays will remain my update days as Monday keeps me focused for the week and Friday keeps me focused for the weekend, which reminds me this week I need to plan my foods better as I've had to call to the shops a couple of times this week as I hadn't actually bought enough stuff on the weekend to see me through, bad bd80s!
Literally the only MSE thing I can report this week is that I did an extra morning up with the horse today as the owner wasn't going up till mid morning, now I know the chunky one would be fed well before then by my friend (first one there always feeds) but I went up so that I could muck out and save my bedding.  The owner didn't go up until 10 on  Monday so his stable wasn't cleaned until then and I really noticed the difference in how wet his bed was and ended up putting extra bedding in early this week. I know it doesn't sound like a huge deal but we seem to have been going through a bag every 5/6 days at the moment and it should easily be lasting a week and I know its because she is up their later than I would be plus tends to chuck loads out when it doesnt need to be, I wouldn't mind but I pay for the bedding and I'm starting to get annoyed that all the things I pay for (feed, shoes, bedding) she will quite happily waste or books for his shoes to be done when they don't need to be but the things that she pays for (stable, hays, vets, dentist etc) are all necessary fixed costs. My poor little bank balance can't handle it :disappointed:
Oooff, sorry that was a little bit of a whinge, appologies but sometimes you have to have a little vent right?
Weekend plans, nothing exciting, standard stuff but hoping for a good rugby match tomorrow, this one tends to be a big un and a good un
Hopefully will have some progress or something to report on Monday, think the weather is due to be normal (well not storms!) so hope you all enjoy

I don’t update very often as I don’t think people would find my life interesting so you’re not alone!!!!

Could you talk to your horses owner and say that instead of paying for bedding shoes etc could you give her a monthly fixed amount? You sound like a great sharer who does a lot so she should be accommodating.  It does seem unfair that if she can’t get to the yard at a decent time you suffer financially when you do so much for her.

Just a suggestion and you could label it as budgeting reasons.

Have a great Friday and weekend x

  • Hi @bd80s! Update how you need to, if I didn't update daily I'd forget relevant stuff but if it works for you to do less regular diary entries that's great

I don't know *too* much about horses although my SIL has a horse that she shares, that's really frustrating that the other owner is throwing stuff away!! Could you put the costs together and show her how much you're spending? Surely it should be equal if you're sharing?

    Have a great weekend!

Thanks @EchoB and @StartingAgainAt29 (oo just learnt how to do that!).
I did work out how much we would both be paying a little while ago and in fairness she ends up paying just over double what all my stuff costs (I do always think though that if I wasn't there she would have to pay for the stuff I do and for someone to sort him out so could be worse....) but I am going to be keeping an eye over the coming months and possibly before next winter have to have a discussion with her around costs again (not the first time I've had to).  I do always panic though that if I rock the boat too much she'll tell me not to bother with the chunky one any more and I couldn't cope with that, I worry about him enough now when I'm there every day
Will definately keep the set amount per month in mind (although I suspect she would have to give me any extra over my amount that was needed for stuff as I'd never get her to go and get it!), as thats what I did when I very first started to share him but I did a lot less then and he lived in a field full time (now he is a spoilt brat and loves his stable!).
I think I just don't like the waste of everything for no reason and the fact that it impacts on my finances grates on me even more (and unreasonably probably the fact that the 2 mornings that she does she can't be a consistent time when she is retired at an early age......(may just be me being jealous!))
Ah well, I will monitor the rest of this winter in preparation for next winter so I have some valid points should I need to have a full blown sit down discussion
Have a great weekend to both of you too, sun is currently shining with me, hope it is with you too

I doubt she would get rid of you, paying for turn outs/bring in/exercise/mucking out adds up, and finding someone reliable and competent is challenging.

Hopefully the worst of the weather is behind us and the fields will dry up so they can spend more time out!   This winter feels like it’s lasted forever!

I always think I'm safe because I do so much but I also have the little doubt in my head, but it would definately cost her another £35 per week minimum (not including what I pay for) so I would hope not, thanks for the confidence that I'm competent though  (20 plus years I really should be now  )
Up to the last few weeks it hasn't seemed too long but with all the ridiculous weather it has now dragged, on the plus side its all getting lighter and drying up slowly so at least its only around 8 weeks max before summer turn out begins.........and then the horseflies will come :open_mouth:
roll on summer though, I think we all need it!

Happy sunny (well with me anyway) Monday everyone
I had the laziest weekend I've had for a long time, I just couldn't summon the enthusiasm to do much bar the bare basics, so nawty! I did have a lovely two hour ride Saturday afternoon though so at least I had a good dose of fresh air.
On the good news though I did manage to cash out £5 from surveys so that has gone off current target loan "Yippee"! That leaves me with £20 to pay off that and being a good girl I changed the standing orders for this one for the remaining amount and added the extra to the next target loan, slowly slowly these are all getting tackled
Also had a better week weight wise and had 2lbs off which I'll take, would have liked more but hey down is down  Although I tinkered with a cake receipe (the diet I'm using allows certain cake) and instead of it being ginger I made it chocolate (using low fat cocoa powder), can't make that for a while as it was delicous and waaaaaayyyyyy too moreish :grimace:  maybe why I only lost 2lbs this week, oops!
Hope everyone has has a nice weekend, please no bragging about how productive you've been, I feel bad enough already

Well well well, it is a beautiful morning here with me, I'm very sad that I have to work and can't be out playing in it :disappointed:
Fingers crossed it stays for Monday as I have a cheeky day off!  Stay tuned for the update on Tuesday when I report that it rained all day!!!
Moneywise not much movement, not enough to cash out on survey sites so no additional overpayments made, bah.  However we did receive confirmation of bonus and pay rises this week "yippee". Bonus is good but (please don't judge me!) initial plan is not to put any into the debt to begin with......I have logic I promise.  After tax I will probably be having around 1.5k which could pay off all but 1 of the outstanding loans but they are all on agreements, show as defaults anyway and are snowballing away quite nicely, the old credit card is also on an agreement and just waiting confirmation that I can increase the monthly payment to that now that I am not paying my "fiend" loan back anymore.  Plan for that bonus money is to set up a good emergency fund (hopefully 1k) and then really boost the little (barely there) pots ready for annual things like insurance, tax, horse costs etc.  This I feel will stand me in a better position for the year coming than throwing it all at the debt and then discovering some emergency 2 weeks later that I can't fund and would put me back into searching out credit.  Also as I have £300 per month freed up from finishing paying my "fiend" back I am hoping that at the end of each month I can make at least £100 overpayments to a target loan of the time as well as the extra £100 I am looking to pay on the credit card, if my budget stays the same this should still allow me to save £100/month and stop going into that drated overdraft..........
Payrise would see me £23 per month better off but (totally unlike me) I put a sensible forward facing head on and look at what I would get if I increased my pension contribution by 1% instead and that would show me as still being an entire £3 per month better off but adds around £25 more to my pension per month (unfortunatly I already have the top employer constribution % so that won't change) so thats what I decided to do, £23 isn't going to change my monthly position so better to put it to work is my thinking.........
Weekend plans are usual cleaning, garden, horse and final six nations match although its all a little anti climatic now due to the major lurg that is everywhere :disappointed: Hoping very much to get my waist length hair cut on Monday which seems a very good idea now (MSE as will take much less time to dry thus using less electric  ) but I suspect within 2 weeks I will be saying I'm growing it long again ........
Have a good one whatever your plans are, I hope they all include some rest and relation for you
