Sounds like a sensible plan tbh. As your debt is in default with a plan to pay it off, with extra payments as much as possible, it makes sense to get ahead with ef and a bit of a buffer.
And sensible with pension! We will be looking at ours when we know the outcome of husbands potential promotion. Either way we will be increasing contributions.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉2 -
Thanks @Drawingaline, glad at least one person doesn't think its the wrong way to go. Not often I'm called sensible either, keeping that one

Totally agree re EF. I think one of the biggest hurdles to getting out of debt is falling back on credit in emergencies. I found that shifting debt made me think in a strategic way about money rather than taking a hand-to-mouth approach. This has helped me stay out of debt since clearing it, so think you should be pluming yourself. Looking forward to next installments! Humdinger2 -
Thank you @Humdinger1
Nice little feeling of "phew!" when someone agrees with my little plans, allows me to have a little bit more trust in myself.
Unfortunately nothing exciting to report, weekend was nice and relaxed, did bits in the garden, bits around the house (and managed a little nap!), took the horse out both days and ran around a supermarket in fear because it was so busy (I can't cope when it's like that, I either want to shout at people to move or get anxious and distracted, one of the joys of being an introvert...). Had my cheeky day off yesterday and got my hair chopped off (still able to get it into a ponytail, couldn't cope with it down in my face all the time), went to lunch with the ladies from the yard as someone is moving away this week, played up the yard for a bit and binge watched a guilty pleasure reality tv show.........hey I never said I was perfect...
Scales, when it was weighing time yesterday morning, happily showed another 2lbs off! happy with that although I think if I had weighed before and after my hair cut I would have showed more of a loss....there was an awful lot of hair
1 week and 1 day till payday and bonus, everywhere is going mad with the virus but spoke to my friends who run an agriculture and pet shop, if any moggy or horse supplies start to decrease I know they'll keep stuff back for me!
Time to catch up on all the diaries I stalk after a 3 day absence.........have a nice week all

Hi 😊
I think the EF plan sounds like a pretty good idea too, you have a plan that you are sticking too and if you feel that you would only utilise debt again if you paid some off with the bonus then I think it’s a very wise move.
Well done on the continued weight loss, hope you have a fab week

Thanks @FootyFanDan
Oo since I posted that on Friday I've been (sort of) called sensible and wise..........two words I would never expect to be used around one of my plans

And here we are at a very odd Friday....
Looking out the window the weather is beautiful, a nice crisp, dry, sunny day but the unease around the entire country puts a bit of a dampener on it all. I'm pragmatic about it, it is something we are going to go through we don't have a choice but we do have a choice in how we react. The whole panic buying is starting to get on my nerves and I for one absolutely refuse to do it.
Yes precautions need to be taken, my work has everyone working from home from Monday, and where possible I can completely see that this is the sensible option and people do need to limit their contact and exposure to others, if everyone is sensible the time that this goes on for will be shorter period hopefully. (one thing for certain, unless I catch it I will absolutely still be going to the horse!)
I guess I'm lucky because we are being told to work from home, I know that there are people out there that have had no option to do so and have had hours cut or worse still been laid off, if anyone who reads this has been affected this way I am truly sorry for you, stick with updating any diaries or just contacting someone to air any concerns, worries etc, it can help to talk.
On a lighter note, just to spread a little bit of positivity, I finally had my £15 cheque through from v*ry, that has gone into the bank but instead of making an overpayment now when payment is due on Wednesday anyway I have adjusted the standing order for the next target loan, so come payday I will have cleared current target loan and will have £75 coming off the next target loan
I hope everyone is safe and taking necessary precautions

Great news on clearing another debt next week.
And having your house will help hugely for your mental health in the coming weeks. I am even more jealous now! Especially as our cat fund is now our emergency fund 😭🙀Debt free Feb 2021 🎉2 -
Horse!!! Although your house is also important 😂🐴Debt free Feb 2021 🎉1

Cat will come, at least you have the emergency fund there at the moment which is good, I can always post some pics of my moggies to see you through, well if one spends more that 5 minutes awake and the other one decides to come into the house for more than 10 minutes
As today is the first day of working from home from me and as I live on my own I can absolutely confirm that being able to get out to the yard will be hugely important, the two places I do most of my socialising are work and the yard and now one has been cut off and I can (10 mins in) confirm it will be tough spending so much more time on my own. I really feel for anyone that won't have any way to get some sort of social interaction that isn't screen related over the coming weeks.
I hope everyone had a good weekend for what it was and are all safe, I will do a better update on Wednesday when I've been paid and can actually change some figures!
