Today I am grateful that oofsted avoided me; that I was able to set up 5 sets of headphones for 4 pupils (+1 for me to listen in on one machine) with 3 cd players using 2 extension leads and a partridge in a pear tree; for only working until lunchtime; for ibu + eating lunch getting rid of a cracking headache; for Sabrina in our local walk-in health centre giving dd a thorough MOT and thankfully finding nothing wrong; for getting noses on 15 snowmen and eyes on a couple of robins (though they're still legless...); for a couple of young sherlock books to read.

  • Evening everyone,
Met friend for long lunch today, cost less than £10 and was a nice treat. Had a relaxed day at work. Bought bargain huge bag of teabags, trying to stock up on essentials while on extra pay for a few more weeks. Went to exercise class this evening - hard but felt good for it. Going to have an early night and read. Deni x

Foodbank/charity donation - charity donation has gone out.
Eat well - hmm fry up for brunch and then pizza for tea but at least no snacking.
    Savings/debt repayment - nothing added.
Treat yourself - hot chocolate at the Christmas market :D
Invitations - girls night planned round at one of the girls houses. Going to the cinema this week to see Frozen 2.
Very merry Christmas - delivered a couple of gifts, did some Christmas shopping in Edinburgh.
    Exercise - steps: 45,835/310,000, gym: 0/4, run: 0/4.

Fun - wandered round the Christmas market yesterday, had a nice long walk today.
Understand what motivates you - done.
NSDs - still on 1/15 as spent yesterday on dinner out, drinks at the Christmas market and Christmas presents and today bought brunch and supermarket pizza on the way home.
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86
    Mortgage overpayment savings - £2.11/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.98
  • Nsd no1 yesterday yeah but have woke up this morning thinking how far is too far in my quest for a simple life. I know we will all have our own thoughts on this, after reading some posts on other links this morning l think this even more. The frivolous spending days are gone that’s a given but sitting in counting my gold( Fraiser from Dads Army) and being miserable doesn’t appeal either. I will get the hang of it and find what works for me lm sure.
    Count down to retirement 2023
  • Foodbank/charity donation - add a few items when you're doing a food shop or buy a gift to donate. A local charity here collects gifts to give to deprived children at Christmas so going to buy something to donate. Will add some to the food bank trolley when I do my food shop on Friday.

Eat well - It can be very difficult to eat well over the festive period with all the lovely food around so enjoy but don't over-indulge. Starting fresh from today, healthy eating and exercise!

Savings/debt repayment. Pay to your debt or savings first and live off what is left. Aim to pay 10% extra this month.
£210.01 extra paid so far, 8 days until I can pay a LOT more off

Treat yourself - Make sure you take time for yourself during December. Relax and read a book, have a bubble bath, light some candles, etc. Finally got round to treating myself to a bath last night, will have a mini-pamper session after the gym this evening

Invitations - Accept a maximum of 2 invitations during December. Works night out, panto, girls night out, whatever you have planned, set a budget and stick to it. Don't imagine I'll get any invites, but will accept if I do

Very merry Christmas - Don't get sucked into all the consumerism that surrounds Christmas, set your budgets for presents, food, etc and stick to them. Mostly sorted anyway.

Exercise - At this time of year, it can be difficult to motivate yourself to get out the house and exercise. Aim for at least 10 minutes outside, even just a short walk around the block. Going to the gym after work

Fun - Think of fun things to do during December, preferably free. Wander round a Christmas market, watch a Christmas movie, make mince pies, etc. Will search for ideas.

Understand what motivates you - Think about what you want to achieve next year and why. How will you achieve your goals? working on my New Year's Resolutions list

NSDs - Aim for 15 NSDs. Usual rules apply, you won't lose a NSD for ys items, petrol or medical reasons. NSD 4/15 today

Sold another item on ebay last night which I need to post out today. Getting lots of cleaning done today and tomorrow as we will be decorating for Christmas tomorrow night.

Tea today is stirfry veg with rice noodles which have a BB date of Dec 2018, we had a pack a few weeks ago though and they tasted just the same as they always do. Have paid £1 for a raffle ticket today for the school raffle, the kids bring home 2 books of 5 tickets each at £1 per ticket which we are supposed to sell, I've sent the rest back, £1 is enough and I am not hassling others to buy. Also sent DS with his outgrown school blazer for their pre-loved stall.

School are doing a reverse advent but the kids seem very muddled on it, DD said people had brought things in but the form teachers didn't take them, I will send something next week but it will be just one thing for each of my children not 1 thing each per day.

Foodbank/charity donation - bought some toys ready for the collection at work. Also convinced my team to donate some ££ so we can buy some more for the kids :D
Eat well - OH convinced me to have a takeaway the other night - oops! Otherwise I've been quite good - lots of fruit and veg.
Savings/debt repayment. - Paid off the CC that I used to pay for the drinks at the work party. All savings paid in.
Treat yourself - I've joined the "No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries December 2019" thread to motivate me to use all the stuff I have, pampered myself to some S&G sugar crush lotion last night.
Invitations - Accept a maximum of 2 invitations during December. I'd already accepted more than 2, but I haven't accepted any extras
Very merry Christmas - Not over spent on Christmas gifts so far and don't intend to!
Exercise - I've been walking to and from work everyday. Today I have a day off, going to Wales for the day for a hill walk.
Fun - Hopefully today it will be the hill walk (if the weather holds out!)
Understand what motivates you - Think about what you want to achieve next year and why. How will you achieve your goals? - I've joined the Save 12k in 2020 thread to motivate me to save for a future home! Hoping all the inspiring stories there will help
NSDs - Aim for 15 NSDs - I've set myself a lower target of 12, currently on 2/12.

Quick update from me as off work this afternoon.

Yesterday lost a NSD, xmas play and then popped to B& Q for a xmas garland £6 undecorated, sure I can fill it in with left over decs for my stairs.

This afternoon will be a batch cooking afternoon and meal plan for next few weeks.

    Grateful for
    Warm office
Best grandson performance ever as Joseph. Bit bias maybe
    12 days until daughter home.

Hairdressers today so a spendy day. Work not paid me but assured it will be in my bank tomorrow. Glad I now actually have funds in my bank which prevents major panic I used to have when this happens.

Made some 5 point starts with twigs from the garden this afternoon. I used my glue gun to fix them in place but will use gardeners twine to wrap the joins to make them look extra rustic. I did a small one and a large one and put them on my dresser, DH said they are very Blair Witch, I will take that as a complement as I love that film.

  • Hello
Still beyond exhausted today. Been thinking of you apple and hoping that Orfsted has gone well.
I am, unfortunately, tired and grumpy. Very tired and grumpy. Just taken delivery of my Mr S delivery for the week so not a nsd. There were 2 random tins of tuna that I didn't order in with my shopping - and when I gave them back to the driver he scanned them and said he couldn't take them back as they weren't on my shopping receipt in the first place. So I've inherited a nice little freebie (probably at someone else's expense but I did try).
Survived work - supported my form class with their inter-class sports activities, sat through a pretty disturbing talk with Year 9 from the police about knife crime and managed to go from 8.30 until 4pm without going to the toilet (through necessity and not choice). I'm home, showered and enjoying a sneaky midweek G&T because it really has been one of those. 11 more school get ups.
