Thank you for the encouragement for running Jan
. There will be no shoulds, oughts or have tos in it. And probably no flappers - sorry f0xh0les (and no turkey basters either...)
Today I am grateful for dh dropping dd and I off at the tram stop, for easy trains, and for seats on the trains, for mum liking all the clothes I'd taken for her, for leaving mum chatting to one of the staff so she'd be distracted from us being gone, for dd being a good walker, for ch shop bargains (jacket, ex top + jeans for £3 total), for wifi, for being inside out of the wind and rain.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I had my first Christmas night out tonight. After work, with my department at the all you can eat Indian buffet - £23 for me and ds including drinks, and I'm home, showered and ready for bed now. Really hoping for a good night's sleep tonight. Just 2 more get ups to get through. Not giving up

Very slow today (having to sit down aftter 5 minutes activity) but making slow progress. 4 large pizza boxes squashed and put in the bottom of the newly emptied bin (if anything leaks it will get soaked up), 5 large clean boxes cut up and put in the recycling bin (so hard to get rid of them when I think of all the things I could make).
Re-proofed coat brought upstairs, tail end of the washing (pillowcases, rags) onto the radiators, two deliveries accepted, washer slowly filling with rags as I work my way around the kitchen, very large bag of rubbish collected (should be able to squash it down once ti has been filled), found wrap and sellotape for Beloved.
Curry sauce was used up - added half a can of butter beans, the tomatoes and a generous handful of mushrooms and had it with chinese rice left from their weekend takeaway. It was lush. Have put the frozen food bits away. Going to put some bottles of milk outside the back door and will use a large kitchen bin to hold some of the veg for now.
Dishwasher nearly full (I evicted the monster living in the rice cooker). Beloved found a hoard of cutlery stashed in her room. My room is nearly straight but can't find a bag that has chocolates in it (think I hid it case they found it and started on them).
Front room sofa will have to wait until weekend but still hoping to do more in the kitchen and in my room.
Today I am grateful for taking things easy - even when picking up the rubbish I did anything to hand and waited until I felt okay about bending down, for yummy food from bits and bobs, for being able to see floor space. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Nothing spent today, so NSD 6 / 15 for me
Made a Christmas pudding today - better late than never!
Decided to do some cooking towards Christmas every day, as there will be lots of people to feed on various days. Mince pies and sausage rolls are done and in the freezer already. Babysitting tomorrow, so it had better be something easy!0 -
Tuesday and today NSDs so 11/15- today only was as I felt so rubbish I went back to bed after taking DD to school so no opportunity to spend- feel much better now and just glad it wasn't a work day, suspect just lack of sleep rather than one of the very nasty bugs going around. Have all presents bought, and now delivered, only one thing to wrap and I'm all sorted. Festive candles were lit tonight, have watched a Christmas film with DD.
Hugs and healing thoughts to all of you who are ill, or struggling with loss.
Lcc86 have a great time at Olympia, have been watching bits online and looks amazing as always.0 -
facethemusic it was fab! Saw the puissance last night, didn't even know it existed beforehand but it was amazing! And I was good and didn't buy anything lol. Did see some boots reduced but they were still more expensive than ones I'd seen online so I left it.
Hope everyone is feeling better and not too stressed about Xmas.
Foodbank/charity donation - all donations now done.
Eat well - had our work Xmas meal yesterday lunchtime but was actually pretty healthy so am happy with that. It was a buffet and I didn't go too mad but was still full for the rest of the day.
Savings/debt repayment - done.
Treat yourself - Olympia yesterday, was absolutely amazing and I'm glad I accepted the last minute ticket. Also off work today so am going to make the most of it and go to the gym, my parents are visiting later for a bit of an early Xmas get together which will be nice.
Invitations - had the work Xmas meal and Olympia yesterday. I think that's pretty much it now for me in terms of invites.
Very merry Christmas - looking forward to seeing my family today and having a good time.
Exercise - did lots of walking yesterday, today I'm going to the gym for the first time in a few weeks since I got ill, so I'm looking forward to that.
Fun - had loads of fun yesterday and today should be nice too. Always nice to just have a day off work.
Understand what motivates you.
NSDs - Aim for 15 NSDs. Still on 9/15. Yesterday was much less spendy than I thought though which was great. I didn't spend anything at the Xmas meal as was prepaid. I had to pay for the train into and out of London, however on the way home the trains were all cancelled or delayed due to a signalling fault that had apparently been going on for hours... I managed to get halfway home by train but nothing was going as far as my house, so I then had to get a cab the rest of the way as the last bus had already gone because we were so delayed. Not impressed and will be doing a Delay Repay form. Very grateful for minicabs being so readily available at such a late time, it cost me £20 but saved me having to walk miles in the pouring rain at 12.30am!0 -
Well, life isn't quite finished with me yet. I found out last night that one of my cousins has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I am absolutely shell shocked with the events of the past few weeks. Still. I suppose if you have to take something out of it it's look after your health, cherish and support your loved ones and be kind to those in need.
With that thought I'm eating healthily today - no chocolate or cakes. Although I admit I do have a little glass of sparkly by my side at the moment. I've been to get my shingles vaccination and had a bit of a walk although not nearly enough. Had a cuppa with my cousin when I gave her her little grandson's Christmas present and donated to her church food bank. Sent a few pounds to someone I know is really struggling financially because the benefits system is rubbish.
I didn't sleep a wink last night because of all the thoughts whirring around in my head. Hopefully, that will be remedied tonight.
Sorry, this is a really depressing post but I'll bounce back tomorrow, I'm sure.
Thanks for listening.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -

Evening all
((Hugs)) to Toni's friend. So sorry you are going through all this at the moment
Managed to make a Dundee cake today (OH and I have already eaten a slice each, so I am not sure it will last till Christmas :rotfl:)
And have a game terrine in the oven, which I shan't allow to be cut until Christmas eve. But there is a taster, a little leftover bit baked separately in a little dish
Not a NSD today, as the window cleaner turned up and I had to pay him.0
