NST December: Festive Fun

Foodbank/charity donation - add a few items when you're doing a food shop or buy a gift to donate. A local charity here collects gifts to give to deprived children at Christmas so going to buy something to donate. Popped some in the trolley in Sainsbury's on Saturday
Eat well - It can be very difficult to eat well over the festive period with all the lovely food around so enjoy but don't over-indulge. Doing okay-ish
Savings/debt repayment. Pay to your debt or savings first and live off what is left. Aim to pay 10% extra this month. Working on making some extra pennies to clear my last CC.
Treat yourself - Make sure you take time for yourself during December. Relax and read a book, have a bubble bath, light some candles, etc. Managing to make some time here and there to chill - yesterday my time to myself was an afternoon nap :rotfl:
Invitations - Accept a maximum of 2 invitations during December. Works night out, panto, girls night out, whatever you have planned, set a budget and stick to it. No invites yet
Very merry Christmas - Don't get sucked into all the consumerism that surrounds Christmas, set your budgets for presents, food, etc and stick to them. So, so close to being done!
Exercise - At this time of year, it can be difficult to motivate yourself to get out the house and exercise. Aim for at least 10 minutes outside, even just a short walk around the block. Walking up the stairs instead of taking the lift at work, even though the lift is now fixed.
Fun - Think of fun things to do during December, preferably free. Wander round a Christmas market, watch a Christmas movie, make mince pies, etc. Will search for ideas.
Understand what motivates you - Think about what you want to achieve next year and why. How will you achieve your goals? working on my New Year's Resolutions list
NSDs - Aim for 15 NSDs. Usual rules apply, you won't lose a NSD for ys items, petrol or medical reasons. Onto 5/15, after today this should increase rapidly.0 -
Shoved my coat into the washing machine to waterproof it, set off the dishwasher (peculiar collection of mostly 'found' objects - cups, lids and random cutlery - disinterred from layers of stuff as I cleared them), more to the recycling bins, freezer audit.
Going visiting today, need to work through my lists and see what still needs doing.
Hope you get good news today. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Sorry went missing few days. Updates are
Thursday - Car went for MOT. passed after 2 new tyres and a track rod end. Total cost under £200 not bad for my little car which I have had for 14 year, 15years in Jan. Mot'd until beg Jan 2021. One less thing to worry out.
Friday - bad chest got even worse and trapped nerve in my shoulder didn't help, ended up paying to get a full body massage which was lovely and stopped the pain. Nice treat not too expensive.
Wasted days holiday though, already booked it off work.
Saturday - small food shop, ran out of tea bags or I would have stayed in all day. Felt better for going out to be honest. Put outside xmas lights up in afternoon. Then collapsed for the day.
Sunday. - Unicorn party gd's bday party morning and helped out at a charity party in the afternoon. Did spend a few pounds on a drink. So lovely so many people turned up, got all goosebumps watching dancing and singing.
Today - so far cleared my current credit card and paid £300 off my debts. Up at 5am with this cold, one of my night outs today, can't see I will be drinking, never felt less like drinking. Local pub and I will get kids meal big enough for me to manage.
No NSD'd to claim eek
Exercise none hardly. Will try later in the week to play catch up.

Been missing for a few days, have been enjoying a night out and some festive fun with DD. Friday was NSD 8/15, saturday and Sunday both involved some spends. I'm counting today now so 9/15 and I'll take it off if things change. Sundays grocery shop was higher than planned but should mean only a small fresh bits shop next weekend and that'll do til after christmas. Nothing much else to report, normal week of school and work and not seeing much daylight I suspect.0

Foodbank/charity donation - add a few items when you're doing a food shop or buy a gift to donate. A local charity here collects gifts to give to deprived children at Christmas so going to buy something to donate. Nothing new to report.
Eat well - It can be very difficult to eat well over the festive period with all the lovely food around so enjoy but don't over-indulge. Actually had a salad w meal last night.
Savings/debt repayment. Pay to your debt or savings first and live off what is left. Aim to pay 10% extra this month. Just mindfull that January comes after December, so to be fair I doubt we will be hitting the sales.
Treat yourself - Make sure you take time for yourself during December. Relax and read a book, have a bubble bath, light some candles, etc. My treat this weekend was a work slowly weekend. Managed to clear 2 shelves and get rid of an old pile!
Invitations - Accept a maximum of 2 invitations during December. Works night out, panto, girls night out, whatever you have planned, set a budget and stick to it. Have been out twice, but am thinking about inviting some people over on Saturday for Christmas drinks and thinking it won't count as I'm not out!
Very merry Christmas - Don't get sucked into all the consumerism that surrounds Christmas, set your budgets for presents, food, etc and stick to them. Nope will give money gifts, slacker but it will do the job.
Exercise - At this time of year, it can be difficult to motivate yourself to get out the house and exercise. Aim for at least 10 minutes outside, even just a short walk around the block. Still resting after fall and also have a dodgy ankle. But am walking.
Fun - Think of fun things to do during December, preferably free. Wander round a Christmas market, watch a Christmas movie, make mince pies, etc. Decorated Christmas tree twice with ds!
Understand what motivates you - Think about what you want to achieve next year and why. Still working on this.
NSDs - Aim for 15 NSDs. Usual rules apply, you won't lose a NSD for ys items, petrol or medical reasons. Should not need to spend this week - but I'm sure I will end up spending anyways.

I think life is really trying it's best to tell me something. I don't know what though. I've just been told that my niece (by marriage) in America has had a massive heart attack. Beautiful girl, Clever, Only 50 years old. I saw her for the first time in many years this summer and my son met her for the first time. He's shocked and devastated as am I. What can you do but carry on?
Just saw this Tonis Friend - America spends so much money on health - and yet has such a massive public health crisis. I am so sorry for your niece. My children's American grandad died out of the blue from a heart attack. Very sudden and difficult for them to process, also when you only see people rarely.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

I am back twice in one day. Cancelled my meal out tonight, my tummy is feeling as off as my bad chest. Hot bath planned instead.
Abundant I comfort eat, think a lot is I am bit lonely in the evenings and see it as a treat. Not bought christmas chocolates yet as then would be long gone. Spent the other week doing a jigsaw, kept my hands and brain busy and forgot about food. This time of year is worse, feel more isolated and pressure to go out and party. Concentrate on looking after yourself more.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
Thank you all so much for your support. You really are such lovely people. Sadly too late for my lovely niece but I draw comfort from the fact that she did come here after many years and meet all her aunts, uncles and cousins some of whom she had never met. I went to see my sister in law this afternoon. She is very poorly but I think there is a little improvement based on what my nephew has been telling me. She did manage to talk to me but she is exhausted in the true sense of the word. Everything is a massive effort and all she wants to do is sleep. I think this is mostly due to the many and varied infections she has and the very powerful drugs she is being given. I feel more hopeful having seen her.
To other things, Changed the bedding, done the washing and made chicken stock. Using the rest of the chicken for dinner tonight and making soup tomorrow. Posted Christmas cards for overseas and bought stamps for the others. I am appalled at the cost of postage and I really think that next year I will donate to charity instead and find another way of sending greetings.
Meeting my lovely cousin on Thursday at her church (she's on duty for Thoughtful Thursday) to give her her little grandson's Christmas presents and I'll put a donation into their food bank then. Must sort our out Salvation Army donation tomorrow as well.
Just having a quiet night with Himself to recharge my batteries and then onwards and upwards.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Foodbank/charity donation - Done for this month
Eat well - HM celery soup and toast (again) for lunch, had a sandwich, a few spiced potato wedges and a salad for dinner. Not too bad. And I saved half of my sandwich for lunch tomorrow
Savings/debt repayment. Pay to your debt or savings first and live off what is left. Always do this
Treat yourself - Might have a glass of wine later
Invitations - Accept a maximum of 2 invitations during December. No more invitations
Very merry Christmas - Don't get sucked into all the consumerism that surrounds Christmas, set your budgets for presents, food, etc and stick to them. Mostly done now, but still have the food shop to do. Won't go overboard!
Exercise - Nothing today
Fun - Not today
Understand what motivates you - Not feeling very motivated at the moment
NSDs - Aim for 15 NSDs Nothing spent today, so 5 / 15.0
