Saw an interesting item yesterday about Liverpool. Liverpool boycotted the Sun newspaper after it's outrageous treatment of the fans after Hillsborough. The paper has never regained a foothold so doesn't get fed Murdoch propaganda - result a sea of red. Last week Liverpool FC was told that if they didn't allow the Sun reporters access, they would not be allowed to host England matches in future. LFC said politely that in that case, they would not be hosting any England games.Today I am grateful for our wonderful NHS (so much and so many people to be grateful for), my bed (my friend, my comfort, my refuge) and my resilience (determindly keeping my mental health strong).Morning all
Love the Radical Tea Towel company, their stuff comes up on my FB, though I haven't bought anything from them yet. Also love seals2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I am still sick - more grateful than ever for our nhs - I've had the emergency appointment plus 2 GP appointments this week, which is more than I've used the nhs for myself in the past year. I am getting better but still in a lot of pain - I can't remember anything as sore as this (other than maybe recovering from giving birth). I have felt very down all week but that's mostly being ill - and stressing about the election results. It's hard to feel anything other than despair when you're already struggling and then you get bad news.
Life goes on at the moment, I'm not getting much done at all. Just resting and sleeping mostly. I haven't been back to work this week and am now starting to worry that I won't get back on Monday. I want to, but if I need to rest I will stay home and rest.
I have caught up with my dad briefly, and done a little bit of housework and the tiniest bit of Christmas prep - and now I am completely shattered so getting ready to go back to sleep for a bit.
Much love to everyone. Not giving up

I won't be commenting on politics.
Have been for a run this morning, through mud, flooded road, hail, sleet and wind.
Have nipped to Sainsburys and used a MOC and nectar points to get some Christmas food, the rest will be purchased next week. DS has gone to a friends for the afternoon and DD is working, not sure what DH wants to do but being outside is a bit iffy as the weather is wild and he is just getting over his third bad cold in as many months.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hi all
Totally share the despair over the results from Thursday. I worked on the count so was not home till 4am. Very glad our MP retained his seat and we are still a red dot on the map.
Anyway, onto MSE-ness:
Eat well - meals good but too many snacks
Savings/debt repayment - have earned extra money from the election count and did a bit of self employment yesterday so all goes towards the debt
Treat yourself - not this week
Invitations - had our Book Group Xmas meal yesterday - all took a contribution and one member gave us all a poster she'd had made showing the covers of all the books we've read over the past 17 years - really lovely gift
Very merry Christmas - not yet....
Exercise managed 2 x classes and one pilates this past week
Fun - Book Group as above & met friend for coffee this morning
Understand what motivates you - debt repayment; trying to do as much extra work as possible and all extra cash going to CCs
NSDs - Achieved another on Tuesday so now at 3/15
Off now to do more Xmas shopping ….
take care all
Love Deni

Hello Everyone
Just back from my holiday so a quick check in. I have eaten and drunk far too much of all the wrong things so really have to get back on track.
Just done my budget for the next four weeks (got paid one pension yesterday) and everything seems to be fine.
Christmas shopping all done (apart from something which I'll explain in a minute) and mostly wrapped. Cards written and will be posted on Monday. As some of you may know my sister in law had surgery on a brain tumour a few weeks ago. Unfortunately she is now back in hospital and very ill (multiple infections rather than the primary cause) so the Christmas present I have for her is not now appropriate so I'll have to think of something else. Going to see her on Monday so positive thoughts would be much appreciated.
Must organise something for the food bank and make various charity donations.
My birthday on 18th so maybe going with some friends Apart from that nothing planned apart from maybe a coffee with the lovely cousin to give her the Christmas present for her lovely little grandson.
Totally lost track of NSDs so think I might have to abandon that this month. Still trying to be frugal though.
So Have to have a little think and sort out the rest of the month.
Have a good weekend.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
I have cleared all the things that were cluttering up the kitchen floor, swept and mopped and now have a table top with a base of 2 cube units. DS3 did most of the lifting - he had to lift one end and then I rushed in with a chair to balance it on whilst he went to lift the other end but once it was on top of the shelves we could push it around fairly easily.
It's too high for eating at but I have effectively doubled the worktop area of the kitchen. I've moved the microwave across to sit on one corner (it was near to where the water keeps coming through and where the ceiling will eventually come down). I need to go back and clear and clean the other bits of worktop but I ache so much. Have a pillow wedged in the small of my back and it's wonderful. may have to wait until tomorrow to do more as I went dizzy when I tried to stand up.
Found a pack of cheese spread lurking at the back of the fridge and I have wraps and tomatoes so that's my go to meal any time I'm too tired or can't think what to do (and when I do the oven if I have time and energy). Trying to order a folding step stool (I want a step'n'fetch but that just produced dog training and morris dancing rsults). Found one that's a chunky modern design, a bit like those high chairs that come in two wood en parts with a high/ low bit to make it different heights as the child grows.
It may be bedtime for me. Think I'm getting old (and decrepit). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Welcome back, Toni'sfriend. Lots of love to your sil.
Today I am grateful for dd's versatility, for eating well and drinking plenty of water, for booking a room to go and see mum next week, for dd decorating the tree in a minimalist fashion, for finding a fleece and a scarf for mum in the ch shops, for finding fimo clay for dd (it's on her cmas list!) in the ch shops too, for lots of twinkly lights, for a good book.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Good evening!
Well budget blown owing to unplanned night out last weekend when very drunk! Ate up nearly half my monthly budget for food/spends!!! How I ever used to afford to go clubbing etc I don't know - or did it just get really expensive? Thankfully I won't be doing it for the foreseeable future lol.
I keep a record of all my spending and can see I have done several supermarket sweeps. So - next month I am going to designate spend days ahead of time... e.g Supermarket on a Friday on my day off - and only a Friday... as opposed to whenever I don't fancy what is in the freezer.

Feeling heaps better than I was this last week, however my Dad has come down with it now (sorry Dad!) although Mum mysteriously immune. Her memory may be poor but she's tough as old boots!!! Had a lovely day with them both out for lunch (thanks Dad) and pottering later around the shops and at home. Mum got herself a new colouring book so she was made up
Back home now, and an evening of chilling out. Planning a food prep day tomorrow and gym and a NO SPEND DAY if it kills me!!! (given I am now in minus £££). Can I post my wallet to one of you, to be returned in the New Year haha :rotfl:
I used to be so good at this!!!
