SandyShores said:Hi, Can I join please? We completed on a house a couple of weeks ago and have already made our first payment
:) which, according to a calculator I found online means we have already paid £898 off the principle
:)
I'm still working out how much to put down as an overpayment each month and how much to put towards the six month emergency fund (savings interest is rubbish right now isn't it).
Exciting to be at the start of the mortgage free journey. We have had a spell off the property ladder and my aim is to pay off before we reach retirement age but I do want us to enjoy the next few years as well.Just let me know a target for the year once you've decided (even just a preliminary or placeholder goal is absolutely fine), and I'll assign you a number.

Thank you Julicorn. As a starter for ten, can I aim to overpay £300 per month from August through to December, which is £1,500.
The plan is for that to be the minimum but with a new house we have several things to buy/do so things will become clearer in a month or two.
Edit - I keep changing my mind, but will start with £300 and put £200 away which can either go in at year end or will be spent on the house if needed.
