#37 with a cheeky second OP of £250 to take our balance under £9,000 - our total for July is now £345.38 please. I have slowed right down on the OP for the time-being but I was impatient to see it dip under £9k. We have a bond with the same BS that holds our mortgage and I know it will mature in October and now there is more than we need to clear the mortgage then. 3.5% compound over 7 years still feels like the right decision and I can only dream of 3.5% return now for cash savings! Well done everyone

#93 - overpaid another £160 this morning, taking me to £185 for the month now.
I was talking with friends about mortgages last night and really want to get mine paid off within 5 years. I'm not sure if that's possible with my figures but my son starts school next September so that will give me more time to plan and save. Here goes anyway...!
Thanks for updating.Original mortgage total: £140,000.00 (July 2015) Original mortgage end date: June 2040
Mortgage free start date: 16th October 2018 Mortgage total at this point: £132,829.12
Current mortgage total: £54,762.71 Current mortgage end date: June 2032 Daily interest: £7.59 > £2.645 -
Hi, Can I join please? We completed on a house a couple of weeks ago and have already made our first payment
:) which, according to a calculator I found online means we have already paid £898 off the principle
:)
I'm still working out how much to put down as an overpayment each month and how much to put towards the six month emergency fund (savings interest is rubbish right now isn't it).
Exciting to be at the start of the mortgage free journey. We have had a spell off the property ladder and my aim is to pay off before we reach retirement age but I do want us to enjoy the next few years as well."Think of many things, do one"
