Big hugs to stop the wibble Lucy!

Don't beat yourself up too much about the meeting....if it's a first time, then it will probably only be a slapped wrist....not even necessarily a verbal warning.

Some employers are more concerned than others about internet usage by employees....I know my company is at the moment and the internet police currently patrol the office from time to time..but this is a phase for my company while it is undergoing re-organisation and it will probably die down over the next couple of months once the bosses feel less stressed.

Some companies have a specific policy on personal internet usage and it's worth checking if yours does and what that says. If they do, then they have to be seen to be implementing it and therefore if it has been observed or is generally known that xxx has been spending more time than usual on the internet, they may decide to be seen to be doing something so the rest of the workforce don't take advantage. If they refer to a policy and you have never been shown it (or it wasn't in your T's and C's/staff handbook when you joined) ...then apologising for your transgressions and asking for the policy at the meeting will show you are a concerned individual who is anxious to work to the company rules and regs....and not sin again!

I'm sure you'll be fine.....keep your dignity, be apologetic, promise it won;t happen again...tell them you were having a bit of a blip because of a personal situation which has put you under stress.....no need to go into details.....and it's your first offence so hopefully they wont be too hard on you.

Good luck and we're all still here with hugs and support for you....wibbles or no wibbles!

  • Well done for keeping your head up in your recent difficult circumstances - you're stronger than I am in terms of walking out on your boyfriend - I struggling to make the break myself.

It's a cliche, but in hard times like this, what doesn't break you makes you stronger

    Take care,

  • Hi WIWR,

Know where you are coming from. I wish I could write the following letter:-

    Dear Frenemy,

Thank you for being so supportive. I remember the time I tried to tell you I had debt problems and you said " we're loaded"...
..or the time you stood in our falling apart kitchen and said "we've got so much money we don't know what to do with it all"...
...despite being loaded however you never failed to be mean, always the last to the bar, serving up the cheapest nasty cuts of meat at summer BBQs where there was never enough food for the kids and never dipping into your pocket for "charity"...how does it go "charity starts at home"...

Yes frenemy you never missed an oppotunity to wave your new possessions in front of my face. YOU MAKE ME SICK YOU TIGHT BEEP..

    BFTE

    p.s. I feel better now.........:eek::rotfl:

    Update:

BF and I are back together for the time being. We're just going to see how it goes. So losing the flat isn't too much of a worry at the moment.

BF has been diagnosed with depression today and is to take anti-depressants so I hope they work for him. At least going to the doctor about it has been a step in the right direction.
Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on

    :j NOW DEBT FREE!!!! :j
:oI try to take life one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once :o
  • Thanks for the update. Im glad your not facing the prospect of losing your flat and great news that bf is seeking treatment. Dont expect it to work overnight the antidepressants do need time to work. That fact that he has sought treatment and has admitted it is a huge step.

    Hi

Not had the meeting yet. I think it's on Monday. I'll be fine, but thanks for the offer, I'll see how it goes!

Just sort of riding the wave at the moment, but my boss is fine with me, not acting any differently which is making me feel better (And is hopefully a good sign!) My emotions are a bit up and down, but I think I am gradually getting control again, that alone is making me feel better.

Although I did find a company policy on stress yesterday and I can savely say no one at work has mentioned it to me, so I will bring it up on monday, not as a acusation, but as a question etc. Make it look like I am trying to help myself, which I of course am!
