    Hello

I've only just seen this post and only read a few of posts so sorry to repeat or if I've missed stuff.
I've suffered with depression for about 6 years and finally believe I'm turning a corner.
I found things that helped, were to list things and think of ideas that I could do when feeling crap, things that were free (phoning a friend, having a bath - I had ALOT of baths!, going for a walk, listening to a meditation tape, doing a jigsaw puzzle) and things that cost a little more etc, recorded good TV programmes to save for later etc. And also lowered my expectations of myself, this last year my only goals have been to find a good therapist and stick with therapy and not spend more than I earn. By setting small goals it's more likely to achieve them and that helps spur onto more goals. I've found the money goals really good as they don't involve feeling sociable or anything. I've managed to pay off overdraft and am working on credit card.
Also I found it good just write my achievements each day even if it was I had a shower or put a clothes wash in or tidied my room or cooked a healthy meal, i counted them all as acheivements.

Couldnt have put it better myself. Small acheivable targets, rewards or feel good things when needed. Dont pressure yourself if everything doesnt (or even nothing) gets done.

Thanks for that vmf199, I hope you are able to find some middle ground with your friends.

    Hey all :hello:

Just wanted to repeat this post of mine in case anyone missed it:

    Hi all :hello:

Sorry to see so much unhappiness in this thread :(

As a result of reading all this can I just make a recommendation for a very, very good book on depression which helped me tremendously when I was at the very lowest of the low of my depression - it is:

Climbing out of Depression by Sue Atkinson

It truly is superb and I have recommended it to many people - a few on here and many on a site I set up and co-admin and all there have reported back that they have found it very useful indeed,

It is easy to read, is very gentle with you and gives you lots of coping strategies. The writer, as she herself says, is no expert - just someone who has been through it and wants to share some of her coping strategies. She takes a wonderful approach even saying if something in the book doesn't grab you to leave it and just take what you want from the book.

I really can't praise it too highly.

I hope some of you will check it out, why not try your library then you can check it out without spending a penny, and if you do that you find it as helpful as I did.

If you do let me know what you think/thought.

Hugs to all those that need them :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

BF and I split up today and I'm totally lost. I can't stop crying and just want him here to give me a cuddle. I can't affordto keep my flat now either. This sucks.

    Aww Mupeteer.

I am so sorry! Is there really no way you can keep your flat? I hope you are doing better today.

    Big hugs xx

  • Aww I can only really repeat what Lucy and Wol2 have said, Im so sorry.

Try and take things one step at a time and think things happen for a reason. If there is no way at keeping your flat you may find somewhere even better to live or meet the man of your dreams!

I know what you mean by wanting a hug. Even when I had a massive row with OH I still want a hug???!!! Do you have any friends and family close by that you can turn to for a hug?

In the meantime lots of ((((((hugs)))))) from me.

Not a good day today was all happy and positive and then my boss told me they had been looking at me internet use at work and it was high and i now have to have a disaplinary with HR. I am terrified and want to cry. I know it's my own fault for using the net at work, but I don't know what I am going to to.

I can't afford to be out of work and this is stressing me out so much!! I hoping that I will be offered the other job tomorrow. But what happens if not?

I feel like I am taking 2 steps forward and 4 back!!!

I really don't see the point sometimes. Like I said I know it's my own fault, but it was a defence thing, I needed support and found it here, but look where it's got me.

    I can't be without work.

Depends how strict your company policy is as to how they will handle it.

Also have you had any disciplinarrys before for anything else ? If not I would have thought a verbal maybe written warning is likely to be the worst outcome.

Needless to say you ahve to stop using the internet for non work use immediately.

Our compnay has really tightened their view on this and are now very strict indeed - so I no longer go on ANYTHING not related to work - just not worth it.

Good luck - hope it goes OK :grouphug:
