Monday morning again! These weeks do come around quickly don’t they!
The rest of my weekend was really nice. My friend loved her surprise and we all stood chatting for ages while the children playedYesterday I saw OH after I dropped the girls off at their dad’s and we went for a mooch around a big shopping centre. There was hardly anyone there! I know it was Father’s Day but as it was the first weekend of some of the shops being open I thought it would be bouncing! Most shops had no queues and I felt really safe from the virus
We also had a naughty chinese takeawaywe were meant to be having a roast but we got home later than planned & we were STARVING!
OH paid bless him.
Work have approved my request to work from home until both girls go back to school. There might be the odd day that I’ll have to go in but I can just about cope with that I think! I will try & remember to submit my expenses claim today.

I keep forgetting to submit my expenses claim! Must remember tomorrow. It’s pay day in 2 days & on my pay slip they’ve paid me as if I’m working full-time, not 4-day weeks
I’ve told my manager & offered to pay the difference, but he said he would rather me keep the money now & do the necessary adjustments on July’s pay slip. So I’ve adjusted my spreadsheet accordingly!
I’m going to be moving back to my flat in a few daysMy sister is coming to stay for a week as of Friday and we don’t get on, plus there’s not a lot of room for her, so I’ve offered to go. In all honesty I’m absolutely gutted, as I really do hate living there and it’s been lovely spending quality time with my mum. But all good things must come to an end I suppose. I just wish my flat was already sold so that I didn’t need to keep it spotless for viewings. And so that there was some light at the end of the tunnel. I have hardly had any anxiety since I’ve been staying at my mum’s, so I know it’s down to where I live
OH came round my mum’s tonight for a bbq which was lovely. For the last month he’s been quite stressed as his employer announced redundancies, however today he found out that his job was safe, so we celebrated with lots of meat & PimmsI don’t normally drink alcohol but a glass of Pimms in the sunshine was very nice

Ahhhhh I don’t know what to do. My mum really doesn’t want us to move back to the flat for good and she’s quite upset about us leaving. Obviously I am too but we’ve been here since 29th April and I don’t want to take advantage. It’s hard to know what to do for the best! I took some stuff back to the flat earlier and wondered how it would be sleeping there again. Would my anxiety come back as bad as it was? I guess I will just have to see - this would be so much easier if someone just bought it1

I’m still undecided about going back to the flat for good but today is the day that we move
I do feel emotional about it, not just because I hate that place, but because of not being around my mum any more. We are very close and it’s been so so nice spending every day with her. That’s one good thing for me to come out of this pandemic! And of course, the girls have loved it too.
I’m going to have a coffee shortly and then I’ll get showered, dressed, and start packing the last of our things. I took loads back yesterday and it made me realise that the girls have so many clothes!
I wish I understood tax credits calculations. The other day I got a text from HMRC asking me to go on a web chat to discuss my earnings for 2019/20. So I did, and I told the advisor that my total earnings for the year was approx £400.00 more than I estimated. So I thought I’d probably be asked to pay some money back. Nope... instead they’ve reduced my monthly payments by about £30, but then on Monday I’m receiving a one-off payment of over £350! So overall I’m receiving more! It can’t be to do with the 2020/21 predicted earnings because that hasn’t changed. Honestly, it’s baffling! My “normal” amount went in today (and yesterday it was pay day from work), so come Monday my account will look VERY healthy! I need to think about what I want to do with this one-off payment.1 -
Just read your diary and even without the virus you have had an incredibly stressful few months. On the positive side though your loan is almost into the £2k bracket and around £4K paid off from your start date. Also planning a new home with your OH once your flat is sold will be exciting. Hope the move back to your flat goes ok and presumably you will still be able to see your mum even if you don't live with her. Hope the job situation gets better.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thank you. It has been stressful, and continues to be. It’s been about 30 hours since we moved back and I can’t describe how much I wish I was back at my mum’s. The neighbours kept me up a lot last night, and they’re currently in their 2nd bedroom being loud which is directly above the girls’ room and DD2 can’t sleep. It drives me insane. I hate living here. Earlier OH popped round to fix my shower as it was playing up and I said it feels like I’m living in a basement. I’m close to calling the estate agents tomorrow and telling them to reduce the asking price by £5K just so I can get shot of it. That will cause other issues but my mental health is more important right now.In more positive news I have put some items on eBay and have ordered some large clothes organiser bags so that DD1’s clothes can be stored in there ready for when DD2 can fit into them. I might order more for myself to store my clothes that are out of season if I like them! I have also caught up on my laundry, washed the kitchen floor & fed us all, so a productive day! The girls played very nicely and made some necklaces & bracelets which is cute1

A funny thing happened last night. I was on here, updating you all, saying how I’d had a lovely afternoon/evening with OH on Sunday and how he had made me feel so much better because he’s brilliant at making me relax and forget about my stresses & worries. I wrote about how lucky I was to have him & how I couldn’t imagine my life without him. And just as I finished typing it, I saw him pull into my car park unannounced! I had text him about 30 minutes prior saying I was feeling low, so he surprised me with a visit. He brought some tea lights with him, and some chocolate, and some moisturiser so he could massage my feet. I cried
It was just what I needed. And I slept so well last night
I’m seeing him again tonightAlready looking forward to it!
My mum turns 60 in September and I’m trying to come up with ideas to make it special for her. It’s very difficult though as no-one knows what’s going to happen then. The lockdown might be stricter, it might be the same as it is now, or it might be completely lifted. We don’t know. As it stands, wedding receptions are a no go so the same would apply to birthday parties I imagine. She lives in a cul-de-sac so I was thinking of maybe a street party. She’s a very popular resident there so I can’t imagine any of her neighbours having a problem with it. But I definitely need to look into it.
Time to get out of bed and get ready for work! Yayyyy.......1 -
My date night with OH last night was simple but lovely. He cooked fish cakes for us & we watched TV together. I probably won’t see him now for a couple of days.
All the direct debits have gone out so my balances now look like this:
Loan: £2,762.27
Family loan: £7,000.00
Mortgage: £82.387.21
Savings: £2,500.00
The reason why my savings have been sliced in half is because I’ve made the decision to pay off the loan. I want it gone for many reasons and £2.5K is still a decent-sized EF. I called up the loan provider this morning and got the settlement figure, so tomorrow I’ll call them again and pay it off! Exciting times.
My first repayment was in December 2019 so that means I’ll have paid a £9K loan in 7 months. I’m quite proud of that. I borrowed the money for a reliable decent car, so it’s a nice feeling that it’ll be completely mine! It’s only 3 years old so it shouldn’t be expensive to maintain at the moment. It needs a MOT soon though - it was due it’s first one in May, but of course because of covid-19 that didn’t happen.
Taking into account the overpayments I’ve made and the cashback I received when I applied for the loan through TCB, borrowing £9K only cost me £82.88. Which is extremely cheap!!! It does help that I sold my previous car privately - that gave me £1K more than if I part-exchanged it.I will update tomorrow when I’ve done it!1 -
I’ve done it!!!! My loan has officially been paid off!!!
Woo hoo!!!

Very wise decision. Presumably you just have the mortgage and family loan now? How about a garden party for your mum? A street party is problematic because you need council approval even if a cul de sac.
